wickedgood Posted April 21, 2012 Hi guys - I am relatively new to Dollfie Dreams (waiting on 2nd wave of Saber Alter arrivals, so I don't actually 'have' one yet). But anyway, I've been lurking for a while, trying to learn at much as I can about DD so I won't do anything stupid with my Alter once she arrives I have a few resin bjds, but loooooved the first version Alter when she was released (passed at the time since she was vinyl), and so jumped at the chance to get my own once the preorder was announced. I've paid a lot more attention to Volks's DD releases since then, and have been tempted by some (I rather wish I had ordered a prepainted 06 head when they were available) but overall have been hesitant to try for any more DDs until I see if I actually like them / they fit in with my existing doll family. I've not seen one in person yet, so all the discussion and photos here and on other forum REALLY REALLY helps
Poofiemus Posted April 21, 2012 Welcome! Quite a few people here are also waiting for second wave Sabers, so you've got company. (However, it seems many of them have less resolve than you, as I recall more than a couple of them caving and adopting other DD girls in the meantime. ) We've also got a few other people who have started in resin and then recently fell for DDs as well. Seeing a resin next to a DD is interesting, but it's definitely not bad, at least to my eyes. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
MyuMyu Posted April 21, 2012 Welcome to the forum and congrats for getting Saber. She is beautiful, I think you will love her I own both, resin dolls and DDs and I think that they look well together. They even share clothes!
Amber Posted April 22, 2012 Hi, and welcome to the forums~ I hope that you get your Saber soon, when is the second wave supposed to arrive? >w< Oh~ I see you are in TX. I moved from there about a year ago, I live in Louisiana now. I think your screen name is cute, "wickedgood"
archangeli Posted April 22, 2012 Hi and welcome! You'll see when your Alter arrives that DD's are quite different from resins. I own both, but most of my collection are Dollfie Dreams. Do read up on stain prevention since vinyl girls stain very easily, and on a white-skinned doll like Alter she will be even more susceptible! Innocentsake Posted April 23, 2012 Welcome! Quite a few people here are also waiting for second wave Sabers, so you've got company. (However, it seems many of them have less resolve than you, as I recall more than a couple of them caving and adopting other DD girls in the meantime. ) Guilty as charged~! You totally got me there Poofiemus ;D Hehe but welcome to the forums wickedgood! You'll have a really good time here When I pre-ordered my Saber Extra I joined this community and have learned so many good DD lessons and the people here are awesome. And yes yes I did cave and end up getting another girl before Saber Extra could arrive and be the 1st DD. So now Saber Extra will be the 1st DD I bought, but 2nd to arrive ^^;; Have fun and congrats on being a future owner of Saber Alter!
baldylox Posted April 23, 2012 Welcome aboard! Glad to hear you've gotten a Saber incoming. I'm waiting as well as are lots of others here.... so you're not alone in your wait. Feel free to ask any questions and poke around the place. Like Innocentsake said, this is a pretty friendly group. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. wickedgood Posted April 24, 2012 Thanks for the warm welcome guys! It will be interesting to see how DDs compare to my resin dolls, especially in posing. I'm hoping I don't like one over the other, but can just appreciate the fact that they're different I've found that I prefer slightly stylized faces over more realistic ones, so I don't see why they shouldn't all get along like one big happy family I'll continue to read and try to educate myself a bit more before making too much noise, but I plan on contributing more once I have actually have a DD, lol.
