Daisy-chan Posted July 30, 2017 I hope Amiibos count! I picked up the Bayonettas last weekend. I'm not an Amiibo fan, but I had to get these. What a coincidence, I got Bayonetta last weekend too! Well, I got the first one you showed, the other one was sold out at all three Best Buys I went to. Hopefully, I'll be getting the 2nd one tomorrow, I snagged her up online and used the pick up at store option because Best Buy's website wouldn't let me have her shipped here for some reason. When I got the one I currently have, though, I was super amazed with the detail on her. Pictures just doesn't do it justice. Here's to hoping the other version is just as amazing! I have a small Amiibo collection that I've been meaning to take some good pictures of, but I just haven't gotten around to it. It seems like every time I think about taking pictures I'm waiting on a new one so I wait for it to arrive to take any pics, but then I forget...

Have a close look at the face of the Bayonetta you'll be getting tomorrow before you open it up. There were a few at my local Best Buy, and the first one I picked up had extra paint on her face. The one I ended up getting does have a flaw on one of her knees, but it's barely noticeable, unlike the first one I picked up. If you spot the paint before you open the package up, try to get it exchanged. I am also pleased by how detailed the two of them are I like the wink in the Bayonetta 2 version. Daisy-chan Posted July 31, 2017 Well, I decided now was a good time as any to take pictures of my Amiibo collection, especially since now I have both of my Bayonettas. This is my first attempt at figure photography, or really any photography at all, so some tips would be nice! 20170730_215414[1] by Daisy, on Flickr 20170730_214626[1] by Daisy, on Flickr 20170730_215018[1] by Daisy, on Flickr 20170730_215249[1] by Daisy, on Flickr 20170730_215503[1] by Daisy, on Flickr These were all taken using a mixture of flash and (attempted) diffused lighting. Unfortunately, the only thing I have to take pictures with right now is my phone. Hopefully I get one day invest in a decent camera, but cameras are a foreign language to me so I don't even know where to start...
Gamma Ray Posted August 2, 2017 Really nice pics, Daisy-chan! I don't know how much help I can provide for the taking of photos, though. I swear, some of that is black magic Getting a background to match the flash when taking photos of my own Bayonettas was a bit difficult, but then I think part of it was the ambient lighting of the area. I ended up with some photos where the Bayonettas ended up looking white as ghosts, too. Just keep on chipping away at the problem with lots of different photos. Sometimes that's what I've got to do with my dolls.

I know my lighting needs a bit of work, a big yellow lamp probably wasn't the best choice... Next time I have some free time, I might take some more pictures of my Amiibos (and maybe some of my blind box figures) just to figure out what all works. Conuresans Posted August 11, 2017 Hooi I suppose I should give an update on my photography skills figure-wise since it's been a bit since I last posted them to this site (In another thread, but don't necessarily want to revive it.) and a camera change later. Here's the pic I posted to IG the other day from my stupidly large backlog, containing images of my newer additions. And here's a flickr link to the image I posted on the other thread once upon a time. finnleo Posted August 14, 2017 past month's batch: First up a very saturated twosome, from when I was inbetween monitors, and it didnt look too bad... but now does look quite bad.. heh: figures418 figures420 figures429 Next a modern snufkin, who's Kantele i'd need to make into 1/3 scale one day... figures432 I haven't seen or read any one piece (And I am not going to, btw) but Shirahoshi's design is simply gorgeous: figures440 The following was delayed for over half a year, and was a serious pain in the butt to put together, but in the end it provided with some of the best photos I had taken so far of figures... figures461 Some old china dress action: figures469 And finally my favorite central processing unit, the iffish, yet amusing nep-nep, in two flavors, typical, and serious... too bad the two extremes have a different height, would be fun as a DD, although they could DD_Pretty neptune, and DD Purple heart... figures474 figures479

I would totally drop paper on a Nep DD. Perhaps once DDP is been out for a bit as that seems the correct size for her.

finnleo Posted October 27, 2017 welp, as for photo's it looks like the dolls are going to take over again, so might as well bring up the few remaining figure items in the stream... First up, even though this miku is in motorcycle gear I thought the itasha RC I had made for a nice prop... figures485 figures496 Looks rather nice going away too... figures491 Next we have some Premium-tsundere: figures503 Im not fully sure about Love comedy snafu, being a bit of a haganai rerun, but yui in devil gear looked amusing: figures507 figures508 owell.. back to doll I guess... sinclair Posted October 28, 2017 When racing those kinds of cars, you need a helmet too, so they still go together. Love the RC car, I need one of those now that I know about them.
finnleo Posted October 28, 2017 Love the RC car, I need one of those now that I know about them. Just a sidenote, its not a ready made car and or body, its a sticker set Goodsmile made at one point in time, but not really anymore. Here's the sheets for Littlebusters and Racing Miku 2011: leftovers... The character one's are oddly enough more plentyfull... and these were plastered onto Protoform Volvo S60 bodies with dinky paint by myself. Better pic of the miku one: protof-s60-012 And little busters: protof-s60-004 There was at least also sets made for the first Racing miku (2009?), Zero no tsukaima, and Demonbane. No idea why they stopped making them, since they seemed to unfortunately sell out whenever they were available at amiami.
sinclair Posted October 28, 2017 Of course they are hard to find sticker sets. Why is all the cool Miku stuff always hard to find, and I never heard about them until too late. Thanks for sharing, and I'd say you did a better job painting then I ever would.
Gabriel Posted December 1, 2017 I'll go ahead and spam this here too. I was playing with my new Hi-Metal R VF-2SS when I happened to notice my Kirika figure on the shelf and an idea was born. It at least kinda sorta looks like I was intending. I wanted to change the background to a sky, but that was beyond my abilities. At least I did manage to get the stand for the Valkyrie edited out without it looking too overly obvious.
0vanity0 Posted January 3, 2018 I used to use my ex-husbands beautiful camera for figures. I can't wait to have one of my own so I can contribute!!

baldylox Posted February 2, 2019 Revived from the great beyond!!! I just got this new C.C. figure from a local doll friend and had to share. I've always liked her character and look so when I find figures of her I like, I try and get them. I got this one for only $20 and I'm pretty happy with her. DSC_2138 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_2139 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_2140 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I wish the face was a little better detailed but for this style figure and the price I paid, it's fine. finnleo Posted February 24, 2019 In a bit of a moment of you've been doing stuff wrong for about seven or so years, or at least since the date of the firmware update to your camera... discovered that me dinky Nikon now (at least I had not seen or noticed it before) had a Preset white-balance setting that you just throw a white or grey piece of paper in front of it with the lights you are about to use, and it locks in a white balance setting... some additional poking around the image mode tweak settings (which I didn't know where there either) to add some contrast, and whatnot... and so armed with this new knowledge, and two desk-lights with butchered LED-bulbs wrapped in baking paper, I had a session with a figure I had gotten in my last few amiami boxes... A Kan'u Unchou cerberos project edition.. photoshop with MS-paint, or just resized from the camera... figures511 figures510 figures509 figures508 figures507 figures506 Live and learn I guess... but at least now I don't have to drool over that Sony A7 anymore as much... baldylox Posted February 24, 2019 Wow, those Kanu pics are awesome! The colors pop so nicely! And they are nice and crisp too. Great job! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
finnleo Posted February 25, 2019 @baldylox thanks.. it really was a moment of what is this sorcery, since its just about 20€ worth of lights, and only added a piece of grey cardboard to the equation... (along with the v1.0 to 1.04 version firmware) The hair turned out maybe a little more juicy looking than it is in real life... but overall it was a promising turn of events... now only to see was it just a fluke or can it be repeated with other stuff. AeroHail Posted April 7, 2019 I adore figure photography! I always have some toys in my bag as it's easier to carry around a character with solid hair than one with a wig hahah! Here's 3 of my photos from last year. I've hardly had a chance to take photos this year! Heshiko Posted April 7, 2019 It's always interesting to see the pretty, nice pictures other people take of their figures... meanwhile I'm over here with stuff like AngryKyokos.jpg: I take very serious pictures. My current collection, or at least as much as can be assembled for one picture (there's a few figures that are absent due to space or, in some cases, religious reasons) : Out of curiosity, would you guys count the Medicom RAH line as figures or dolls? Never been clear on that one, since they're basically just big Figmas, Bigmas if you will, with (mostly) cloth clothing. Looking through my pictures I've realized that all my favorite "figure" photos are of them!
