DD Clothing and Item Storage / Organization

Recommended Posts

scripple

I'm curious what people are doing in terms of storing and organizing their DD clothing and accessories. Right now I mostly have all the outfits in resealable plastic bags (ziploc type, not adhesive) and all of those bags in big plastic storage bins. It's not the best in terms of getting to what I want and it doesn't lend itself to mixing and matching so much either.

Right now I haven't been able to bring myself to break up the sets they came in and store them all by clothing type like skirts, tops, bottoms, etc. I've taken pictures of most outfits laid out to mark what came with them but I know it would be hard to sort everything out if I mixed them all together. That probably only matters if I were to go to sell them, but I'm still hesitant to do it.

So how do the rest of you store and organize all of this stuff?

Scripple, sounds like we have the same storage situation. I tend to keep all the clothes in zip lock baggies and then inside of plastic storage bins. I now have a total of 4 bins.

The first 2 of them are really for clothes. Shirts, pants, dresses, undies... Another one of them are for shoes, toys, and extras such as wax for her eyes or hair care. The final one is just for wigs. I don't want them to get damaged so they have lots of room.

When I just had Manami, things were so much easier to store! I went to Walmart and bought one of those 3 drawer stands that's all clear plastic. Here is a post I made about it:

http://www.figure.fm/post/en/15719/I+think+I+have+a+problem+or+two+_.html

That worked great until I adopted Rei and Yoko. Shortly after them arriving, my 3 drawer setup was not enuff. So I decided to get 2 of those plastic rollaway containers that roll underneath a bed.

That worked out well until I started to notice more of my larger accessories were taking up too much space. So I bought a THIRD rollaway container.

And now all three of them are packed to overflowing. I should get pics to show yall how sad they look. I need to find yet another way to store clothing away...

But I always keep all my clothing in their original bags inside those containers. I know that if something terrible happened and I had to sell stuff, I want everything as new as possible. Collectors of these want the original bags and such so I make sure to keep everything. One container is nothing but clothing. The next is nothing but small accessories like prop food and the like. The last container holds big accessories and wigs.

I'll take some shots of them and update this post in a day or two so yall can see all the crap I have in those things.

I keep the original bags and the cardboard figure shaped things, but I just put the original bags aside in a separate box and keep the clothes in a ziploc bag. The seals on those original bags are only good for a limited number of opening and resealing.

I use one of those three-drawer thingys, mostly cause I saw Baldylox' on Figure.FM, and remembered my brother had one he didn't use. The bottom drawer is all clothes. The second has the girls' shoes, Railgun mini-daki, and various accessories. Lastly the top is for wigs, hands, and Yui's 'daughter' Azone Mio's stuff. And the DD compilation bonus print, which I framed, but have nowhere to put...

The drawer thingy works better than the cardboard box I used to use, but I'm beginning to run out of room... The Mio mini-daki is "displayed" in front of it.

Leave it to Fenrir to up the storage ante to such a high level!

WOW.

That is the best looking cabinet I've seen. And it's totally functional too! How long did it take you to make and build that little beauty?

Excellent way to keep track of your shoes too, a whole drawer devoted to just those is really cool.

Did you also make the clothes hangers or did you buy them somewhere?

Man, 5 days. That is quite a lot of work. But the end product is so nicely made. Congrats on that piece, it is really the coolest thing I have seen in a while.

Finally got some pics of my containers!

Here is where they sit in the guest bedroom:

The black bag is my Volks Doll Carrier and the other green one I had to use for the last doll meet as a carrier for 2 girls.

Here is the top container... it's clothes only and it's friggin PACKED:

Second container is all accessories like shoes, hats, toys, props, etc. :

And the last container is all wigs, large accessories and random doll things like stands:

So that's all my girls belongings. They own more than I do it seems....

That's a nice piece of furniture, but sadly I would need several to house everything.

Billy - Your girls sure do have more clothes than I do, that's for sure!!!

Do you have problems finding the pieces you are looking for? I figured if I get that many I may split them into smaller boxes - One for shoes, one for pants, t-shirts, dresses, shimapan!

Ha ha! They have more than me too, easily. Plus, their clothes are way more expensive than mine!

I keep all the official outfits from Volks in their own bags that they are sold in. That way I have all the pieces that came with them in one spot so they can't get lost. Any other clothing I buy stays in sets, like things from Nightfall for instance. If I buy a set from her, I keep it all in one Ziploc bag and label what it's called and where I got it. So I have outfits in bags labeled from Alices Collections, ebay, Anne, etc. but I don't break up sets to have like items together.

But I *do* keep random things that aren't in sets together. Like all those new socks I got from Cool Cats, those are in one big bag along with other socks labeled "Socks". I also have random underwear in that bag. I have a bag for skirts, another for shirts and one for dresses/pants.

I keep shoes in separate bags in the accessories container. Like if I have a pair of white dress shoes from Volks, they are bagged by themselves and labeled "White Volks Dress Shoes" This way I don't get them mixed up with other things. But for random sets of shoes, they all go into one big bag. Same with food items. Anything that is an eraser is in one bag. Non eraser type foods are in another.

I should really take an inventory soon so I know *exactly* what I have. I will take pics of each outfit to dobleepent it just in case something happens and I need to sell anything. Maybe that will be a post for the future when I have 2 days to go thru all this stuff... But I wouldn't post individual items, it would be something like "Here are all my Volks outfits" and "Here are all my shoes" like that.
