aaircrash Posted May 7, 2012 Hello everyone ^^, last month I was able to finish my first ever face-up on a DDH-03 head. I was wondering if you guys would be able to share your opinions on it! All critique is welcome as I will need all the help I can get to improve I used Model Color acrylic in brown, white and black for the eyeliner and eyebrows and chalk pastels for the lips and blush (it is hard to tell but the cheeks are blushed an orange-ish shade). I am thinking about adding eyelashes as well as defining the mouth a bit. The whole thing took me around 8 hours. Thank-you for looking w/ eyes Wishing Uzuki Shimamura, Rin Shibuya Owning Miriam (Smart Doll Mirai), Alexia (DDS Marisa Kirisame)

aaircrash Posted May 9, 2012 That's great for a first time. i dont think I could ever have the skill to do that. Wayne Thank-you for the kind words ^^, I was really worried since this was my first time painting on any surface other then a canvas but found that it was easy to adjust to painting on the vinyl. hihihellokitty Posted May 9, 2012 Great first face-up ^___^b !! I am no face-up artist, but some pointers I'd give are maybe make the paint thinner/find thinner paint so it doesn't lay onto the vinyl so thick. However, I read in a tutorial once that thinning the paint sometimes weakens the pigments, and you might have to put more layers to get a richer color, resulting in too thick application once again ><. I would recommend trying to find a "flat drying, high pigmented acrylic paint for figures, models, etc"(taken straight form tutorial). Also, maybe make the eyeliner and eyebrows thinner, the starting shape of then is nice but I feel like they would look even nicer if they were thinner ^^ (they seem a bit thick, but even so, she still looks like a cute little panda hehe :3 )... Anyways awesome you are starting on face-ups!! I've always wanted to but never do cause I am always worried I will ruin something lol @u@, you are brave! Hope to see more works from you

I've started to thin out the eyeliner and eyebrows already~ hopefully I will be finished soon and able to post new pictures ^^ Thank-you so much for the advice, and I love that you compared her to a panda :3 lol Wishing Uzuki Shimamura, Rin Shibuya Owning Miriam (Smart Doll Mirai), Alexia (DDS Marisa Kirisame)
