DDII & DDIII, which one is better??

hi there, i'm just curious about these 2 bodies, currently i have DDII body on my girl and i'm thinking of upgrading it into DDIII, but i'm still not sure about DDIII since i saw reports that it cracks sometimes? hurm... what do you think? should i or should i not get DDIII???? thanks.

I don't have a DD3 body so I can't really speak... but to me it seems all the issues aren't solved, I've heard of Haruka's body having cracks...

 

Although, haven't heard anything about Lucy... so if you were to get Sakuya or Rise's body I think you could feel safe...

 

The main problem is the lack of option parts, you're stuck with whatever bust you get/etc. At least until Volks starts selling them.

Yeah, it's hard to tell at this point if they've fixed the cracking issues with the latest ones or not. Plus, the bodies are only available on fully assembled girls at this point, not by themselves, so odds are you're going to be either getting a superfluous Aoi/Yukino head or paying an aftermarket markup.

 

So, personally, I'd recommend waiting a while longer for either a) cracking issues to be confirmed fixed or b) the body to be released as a base body. If your girl was a floating head it'd be a frustrating wait, but since she's got a DDII currently you can still enjoy her as she is while you wait for one or both to occur.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought I heard DDII busts don't work on DDIIIs.

 

That's part of the reason that some of these newer dolls sound like they're a big deal for body collectors. Like Haruka is the first "DDIII" Dynamite body and Rise will be the first DDIII normal skin small bust.

I've heard the DDII bust can fit DDIII, but isn't a 100% fit?

 

I guess if it's an approximate match it doesn't matter when it's under clothes.

I believe the clerk at VolksUSA said that the DDIII bodies are a little different compared to DDII bodies in terms of size and even though parts may fit, they can be loose.

X-x since she is an M bust DDIII?? it's frustrating that vollks hasn't announced when are they going to sell DDIII base body.. been wanting DDIII for so long now..

It actually depends which Sakuya kyojie011 is referring to. The new one is an L bust but the other one( http://www.volks.co.jp/en/dollfiedream/dd_sakuya.html/ ) is an M bust. The other possibility for a DDIII M bust(normal) would be Yukino ver.2.

 

Personally, with the problems the DDIII body has had I'd recommend waiting unless a good deal came up. What your planning on doing with it and how much money you can afford to blow would also be factors though.

I put a DDII small bust on my DDIII Yukino body, and it's fine. I don't really notice a difference, except of course in the size of the breasts.

I assumed you were talking about the new Sakuya, the Shining Hearts one. Sorry about that. The person who posted above is right - the Touhou Project Sakuya (the one that comes with the knives accessories) is a DDIII M bust. So it just depends on which you go for.

I only have one DDIII body at home but I still prefer the old DDII body. It just feels sturdier in my opinion. Aesthetically, I like the leaner look of the DDIII though. I am anxious to get my Lucy and see how another DDIII feels.

DDII still a favourite then,, what i like about DDIII is the pose it can give,, i especially adore what the legs can do, that's why i want DDIII, but since it is not stable yet, i think might have to stay with DDII then,, i hope volks will solve DDIII bodies' probs though and make it available as soon as possible, make it more like a DDII body, sturdy yet able to give dynamic poses (i love to see my DD does dynamic poses just like figmas or any other ball-jointed figures, LOL) ^^,

DDIII body makes me very uneasy with all the reports of it being fragile. I keep getting worried my new Saber Extra DD will break as soon as I get her. I want to prevent breakage as much as I can, I'd be sad if my doll was crippled.

I feel the same way actually because I also have an Extra on the way. I've already told myself that before anything is done with her, I must take her apart to inspect her joints for cracks or any other type damage. If she passes inspection, I plan to sand down her joints some to help with the stress in those areas. Hopefully this will either stop or at least delay any cracking. It won't be fun or easy taking her apart as soon as she arrives but if it means peace of mind for me and possible longevity of her body, I *have* to do this.

I have a Yukino v.2 (a DDIII) and Moe v.2 (the first DDIII released) and the vinyl is the "new" soft vinyl, but they are still very sturdy feeling, like the DDII body, but with the increased posing ability, slightly taller body, etc.

 

I got to handle Saber Extra's DDIII body a couple months back and her thighs are really squishy. It's hard to describe what to compare it to - it's not as soft as a bust piece but I'm not crazy about it.
