Home Town Dolpa Kyoto 9 Collection at Volks US

I went to the store and even with pulling a decent number, a few of the items I was getting for someone else were already snagged. I think it didn't help that some of the items either didn't have a translated name on them, or if they did, they snagged the one on top that had the name instead of one under it.

 

All in all though, I did get what I went for, the Steam Signal Red, and four items for Nekopon. It was also nice seeing just about everyone who's participated in the So Cal meet ups there and a familiar face from Fanime.

I'm happy that you were able to get the Steam Signal Red for yourself Which girl will be wearing it? And oh my goodness how was opening up and getting a look at your Sabers!?

 

Haruka totally gets the Steam Signal Red. Seeing her in a photo wearing it a few months back is what sold me on both Haruka and that outfit. I'll just say that trying to put the outfit onto her was an adventure. I'll be taking pictures and posting those soon.

 

Seeing both Sabers was really awesome. I posted in the other thread that Nero had a crack in her shoulder when we were checking her out Luckily they had some spare parts there, so I wouldn't have to wait for a replacement. Max's Nero had the same problem

 

Oh, I didn't know yours ended up being cracked as well. The staff weren't sure if there were more spare parts after fixing mine so I'm glad they had them after all.

 

Anyway, I ended up getting both blazer uniforms (The Red/Brown one looks amazing on Nero BTW, that's mine on Volks's blog) and Maridah got the Noir Maid and the white boots. I think there were only two or three bag/shoes sets and they were gone almost instantly. The apron sets, on the other hand, didn't do as well, and there were several of the pink and yellow ones left at the end of the day as far as I can remember.

 

BTW, has anybody managed to get Nero's wig on? Even Bailey couldn't do it when she tried.

I got nero's wig on, it took a lot of time and patience and I almost destroyed it before I could get it on... I ended up starting in the back instead of the front. Hold down the back at where you want it, place a plastic sheet (like a bag or something) under the rest of the wig and slowly help it slide it down wore still holding the back side firmly... I wish they'd make it easier or less fragile...

Since I will be putting my Saber Extra together tonight when I get home, what do I need to know about this wig issue? Is the wig too small? Is the soft headcap making it too difficult to slide on her head properly? Is the wig not stretchy enuff?

 

I really don't want to damage my new wig while trying to put it on her and I am NOT wanting to use any other wigs on her but her default.

It feels too tight with no elasticity. It doesn't "slide on" what-so-ever. It will take time and patience to put it on... The instructions says to hold the front and slide in the back, I think... it worked for Saber Alter but I think Extra's is tighter and was easier for me to hold the back and slide on the front instead. See what works for you.

you can use the plastic bag method.

put one side into place keep it there with your fingers.

put plastic bag on other side.

slide wig over the plasticbag.

remove plastic bag.

if you dont have a wig cap skip final step.

final step tuck in wig cap

Yeah, it's a pain to get on...it really feels about a size too small. The original Saber wig was much easier to get on/off.

Bailey thought that maybe it'd help to heat the head before trying to put the wig on.

 

I'm just using a different wig for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for all the input guys, I appreciate it! But oddly enuff, when I tried to put her wig on, I tried it by holding the back in place and sliding the front down and it went right on with no issues at all! Done in less than 10 seconds!

 

Not sure how or why but I'm happy it went easily.

Got my sabers today. Alter's wig was very nearly impossible to get on, but Saber Extra's went on easily. I swapped Alter 2nd's wig with the first Alter's wig(which goes on easily) and found neither went on all that easy, but still easier then the new one. That makes me believe that Alter 2nd's wig is small and her head is bigger.

You might get lucky because it was the other way for me. Nero was hard to put on and Alter was easy. :p

Yeah, that was beyond stupid and horrible. All I wanted was the Noir Maid set and 2 other things for a friend. I had all 3 in my cart and when I hit the send button for the order, it hit me with all negs on the stuff.

 

I have no idea how or why this stuff was so limited but it chaffs my butt seriously. Now, if I want that maid set, I'll have to pay DOUBLE minimum on the aftermarket. Either that or hop on a group order from Volks Japan.International *if* they have it in stock.

To tell you the truth, I expected as much. The only thing I can think about this is that maybe they are doing a site update and will relist the stuff that is *supposed* to be regularly stocked later. It's possible they had all those outfits listed as the event stuff and now need to separate it so it will show up properly. At least, that's my hope so that all those school uniforms and the two maid sets will actually be available again for real in the near future. I guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed!

Wow, again with the Volks quality. Has the stitching caused stains yet that you've seen or heard of? Of course I'm interested to know since I'll eventually try to get this outfit again. Thanks for the info!

Awwwwww man! Stupid Volks and their stupid use of dark threads. I've already had one mishap with dark threads and the jean shorts from the Alna set. >.>

 

Ohhhh well I'm creative, I'll figure something out so they won't mess up who I pick to wear this maid set.

If your using the full outfit the blouse would protect against the spots where the black threads are. The skirt isn't lined but it comes with a petticoat so that wouldn't be an issue either. Of course if your having them wear the dress without the blouse then maybe it could be an issue, not saying that I've done this though.

The skirt is longer than the petticoat, so it's possible that the thread would contact the doll if she's sitting down or in a bag.

 

I think Maridah will probably put the outfit on Saber Alter eventually but we need to wait until Volks gets the white bodystockings in stock again before we really feel safe.

Speaking of lining, I got my order today. One of the things I got was the Smooth Lamp Black. The black skirt is partly lined with white, but the bottom inch of it is not. Just to let you guys know. Still looks gorgeous.

 

(Though I think Rin is more happy about the fact that I received the Fate/Unlimited Blade Works US release BluRay today and the store sent me a post card with the same cover art. She's proudly holding the post card since it has her on it.)
