mitsuki Posted April 2, 2011 The Dolpa is a "Doll's Party" which is a one day event at a convention center in Japan. Participants line up to get a lottery ticket and the chance to buy a limited doll. Not everyone who goes to the Dolpa can buy a doll. You have to be lucky. There are Dolpas held 4 times a year. At least twice per year in Tokyo which is why Tokyo Dolpas have gotten to the 25th Dolpa happening this April. Tokyo Dolpas are in April or May and then in December. Other cities like Kyoto, Osaka, and Nagoya take turns. The last Dolpa was Kyoto 8 meaning it is the 8th Dolpa that will be held in Kyoto. There are other things to do at the Dolpa. You can see what various vendors are selling (1:3 scale items, clothes, shoes, etc), bring your doll to meet other dolls, go to workshops to see how to paint faceups, get your doll repaired or treated to protect her against UV radiation if she is resin, attend a tea party, and have a boxed lunch (bento). After the Dolpa is over, there is an "After Event" held online so people who couldn't come to the Dolpa can enter the lottery to try to win limited dolls and limited outfits. There are also "regular items" which are not limited. These are available to buy at a particular time from the website directly, but popular things sell out quickly. Some of the high fashion Super Dollfie items are the hardest to get. Limited and regular items also come to Volks USA. The lotteries for limited items are held at about the same time as the After Event lotteries through Volks International. Regular items take two months to get to Volks USA and can also sell out fast. The U.S. Dolpa are held rarely. They have been in Los Angeles (LA) and New York (NY). There haven't been any announcements that there will be another one in the U.S. soon.
