Hiya Folks!

We'll the one thing I never thought would happen, happened. I bought a dollfie dream-- to be more precise I got the incredible news that I had won Cirno yesterday morning. So here I am. To be honest I really never had a particularly big interest in DD's. But I was always captivated by the Character ones like the Saber one's for their attention to detail on the armor and such. So when Volks announced they'd make one of my favorite Tohou character it immediately grabbed me.

 

I come from a background of mainly collecting figma's, nendoroids and some poseable 1/6 figures so as you can imagine the move from a 1/6 to a 1/3 scale (along with the price tag) was an enormous leap for me.

 

So I come here to soak in all I can learn from you guys and gals about this new world I've stepped into and hope to get to know some of you along the way!

Welcome, and congratulations! I know that a lot of people here are closely watching Cirno's release, since she's got a new body type and we're all curious what it's going to be like. (Plus she's got that adorable mischievous face!)

 

Quite a few of us also made a jump to DDs after being into Figmas and other small figures, myself included. I think it says something that after getting my first DD I haven't gotten another Figma since. DDs have so much more personality and presence.

Congrats on winning Cirno, she is very cute. It was lucky that she is your favorite character and then they released, and you won! That's extremely good luck! xD

 

I did not collect figures before I collected dolls, I mostly collected Sanrio and San-X plush, but now after collecting dolls it has sparked my interest in figures.

 

I'd love to see your Cirno when you get her~ Do you plan on keeping her name Cirno and her same character, or will you be renaming her and making up a new character/history for her?

@Arienette Oh no no I'll definitely be keeping her name. What drew me to this figure was because of the character her self. I just love the proud personality she's had in the games and doujins that I feel it'd be an injustice (for me anyway) to name her or change her in any way that isn't Cirno.

 

@Klein Haha Thanks, it's thanks to your recommendation that I'm here. I'll be definitely picking some much needed accessories for her. Mainly a stand and the body cover to keep the dastardly stains I keep hearing about away.

Welcome aboard! Glad to see you were able to get a Cirno, she was my favorite from this release! Please make sure to share lots of pics when you get her.

 

I see you're from NC, where abouts up there are you? I'm in SC and we have lots of meetups within the 2 states. We mostly do them around the Charlotte area and there is another group around the Raleigh area, altho those guys are all about resins, no one owns any DD's over there.

 

If you get a chance, maybe you can meetup with me and AsianEd near the Charlotte/Upper SC area sometime! We both have DD's as does his fiancee. But we are about the only DD owners at these meets, most people are into resins. But this group is way more open to DD's than others I've dealt with. So anytime we can see another DD owner is always cool!

I'm a pretty active member of the Charlotte anime manga society (CAMS for short). It's a meetup group that meets in the South Park area for nerding out and good times so if you'd like to pay a visit sometime your more than welcome.

 

But certainly, give me a heads up the next time you guys meetup I wouldn't mind hanging out with a new crowd!

Excellent! Small world huh? Ed does go to several cons in the Charlotte area so there's a good chance you've met him. He's a really nice guy and is on the boards here altho he doesn't post much. That's cool about the CAMS thing too, maybe you saw us at Animazement last year? Me, Ed, Nicole and D'Ann all walked around the con everyday, each of us with a DD in hand! We were kinda hard to miss. And thanks for the invite!

 

They should be having the next doll meet in the Columbia SC area. I'll go check on DoA today and see when and where it is. Columbia is a short trip for me and should be for you too. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to that one and Ed will probably do so too. I'll get some info for you on it and maybe we can meet up there! If not, we can try another time because the Charlotte area people usually do a meet every month or two.

I was once a figure collector too so I can relate. After getting into DDs I kind of given up figure collecting. It started with one girl and the rest followed ^^

@Baldylox I highly doubt I saw you guys last year since I was at Fanime at the time but definitely. Gimmie a shout when you guys do one in Charlotte I'd love to come and meet you guys!

 

@Juu-Yuki Thanks for the welcome! I kinda hope this helps slow down my figure collecting haha. I been slowing down immensely with my purchases this year so here's hoping this nails it shut. Then again, here's hoping picking up Cirno doesn't ignite a fire someplace else...

Oh definitely, this goes back with my figma's. I never just have mine standing in a flat standing pose. I always love posing them in such a matter that'd befit their character. With Cirno, I've got quite a few ideas already on how to debut her. I can't wait to get started.
