Damn, I checked the other day and MDD feet were in stock, it must have been a coincidence. I'm bidding on a couple of MDD heads right now, and if I win, I'll need feet! Any other sources of MDDIII bodies? DollfieWorld?

From what I gather in my talks with Waha and others, the best option for the MDD3 body is a Parabox 40cm body with neck adapter. They are plentiful, around half the cost of the MDD3 and much more sturdy, stable and posable.

I had been thinking about upgrading one of my 3 MDD girls to a different body and no one seems to be able to complete one due to the parts shortage for the feet. So in talking with our MDD pro Waha, he said the Parabox 40cm is the same size and fits everything the MDD bodies do and has all the benefits I listed above. So I'm seriously going to think about one of those instead of the MDD3 when I do an upgrade on Minako.

You may not want to do a non Volks body but seeing as how they're way less money and easy to get, it's a very good alternative since you can use Volks heads and clothes on them.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Pretty much what Billy already said. The Parabox 40cm body is a great alternative to the MDD3. Cheaper, more sturdy, repair parts are readily available should something break. And you can either buy an adapter, or DIY a solution to mount the head using the existing Obitsu joint. The adapter is recommended though as it gives you a bit of extra head movement (The same person that does them, Grayforce, also makes adapters for regular DD bodies that offer superior movement).

Out of my 11 MDD girls, 8 use Parabox 40cm bodies, 1 use MDD3, and 2 have the original MDD bodies (But they're scheduled to be replaced with Parabox 40cm).

I like the idea of the P40 bodies, but I do have one thing against them that has stopped me from ever going that route.

This picture is originally how I fell in love and knew I needed an MDD. Even without a head she's adorable, specifically I love the way she's standing pigeon-toed with her knees pointing in. The P40 knees bother me, and while yes, I can cover them with socks sometimes, I can't do that in every instance (like bathing suits).

But of course if that didn't bother me I'd be all over a cheaper and easier to acquire body resourse.

Yeah, I know, the knees are a bit different. The way I look at it: At least you don't get gaping holes when you bend the P40 knees like you do with the MDD ones, as there is a real "knee-cap".

Rainie has claimed the Obitsu 45cm body that I bought for Tama's male chest piece and after fighting with Tama's MDD body, I was stunned with how sturdy the Obitsus are.

8521551511_645e0ae367_z.jpg

One of the additional features is the magnet feet. Rainie is standing on a piece of foamboard, with the black metal base plate hidden underneath and she stood like that for days. I didn't have to worry about her falling over and the magnets were still holding strong (the foamboard is about 1/8" thick). Poor Tama on the other hand can't stand without help. He will always be an MDD because he's one where the body, but most especially the hands, are a very defined part of him being him. Bree, Lucas, Ralph, my other 01, and my 07 are all going on Obitsu bodies mostly because the quality of the joints is SO much better, but the price allows me to get more of my DD actually completed.

If the body sculpt isn't that big of a deal I'd really recommend the Obitsus as an MDD alternative.

Here is the height difference between the Obitsu 45cm male (Tama) and the MDD (Rainie has a DD sized head). Does anyone have a full side by side pic like this with an MDD and Obitsu 40cm? I'm really thinking about this size for Bree and maybe a 40cm boy eventually, but I haven't seen any pics standing next to an MDD.

There's a P40 next to a MDD3. No patience to try and balance one of my MDD1s right now. Generally most every outfit made to fit a MDD will fit a P40 with a few exceptions (Kudo's underwear being one, and some MSD outfits made for REALLY slim MSDs but then again they won't fit a MDD either).

There are a couple of adorable heads on YJA I'm bidding on, but I'm not sure if I will get one/both/neither. I hadn't really considered the Obitsu 40 -- does someone have a pic of the knees? And where do you get the adaptor from?

Edit: never mind, I googled the knees. Is the white skin compatible with DD Normal?

Unlike the MDD3 knees they're doublejointed and you can do some amazing things with them, but the look bothers some people.

http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m107760020 <- link to neck adapter, if they sell out Grayforce usually puts up new ones within 24-48 hours, can look at all his auctions here: http://openuser.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/user/Grayforce

There's someone selling cheaper adapters (around 1000y a piece) but I wouldn't recommend those, they're very flimsy and snap easily.

Yeah, normally I love double jointed knees. I specifically got my resin MSD size girl with double joints. I really love the posability, so I really want to like the P40s. The inside of the elbow used to bother me, but doesn't anymore. Maybe ill get over the knees at some point, too.

Thank you very much Waha! That's what I was hoping for in the height difference between the two. Don't worry about getting a pic with the MDD, the MDDIII is just fine. Another thing about your photo I noticed is why I didn't know that there was many other Obitsu girls on the forums. Either with longer skirts, or high socks can cover the 'kneecaps' that are so distinctly Obitsu.

I was surprised that Tamayuki's slacks from Volks fit on the 45cm torso just fine but the leg of the pants is a bit short. Same is true for his Volks shirts (#1 and #2). Something like this wouldn't matter to most people, but to me it means that I only have to lengthen sewing patterns after I make them to fit the Obitsu frame rather than drafting an entirely new pattern.

Does anyone know if Volks MDD hands have a way to be adapted onto the Obitsu bodies? The Volks hands are just adorable and chubby.

It's a slightly bit more toward white:

DSC_0459.JPG

That's NS, Parabox/Obitsu, and WS (Pardon the cruddy photo, I really should get around to taking a new one)

You really don't notice it except when you look for it, and of course it really depends on your head as well. I'd say that on pretty much all my girls the match is close to perfect.

To chime in what waha said about the skin tone...you won't notice anything. My saber has a larger colour difference than a p40 does with the NS skin tone. In addition, the p40 wrists allow for you to have a wider range of motion for the hands...well actually that said, almost all the joints have equal or better range of motion than the mdd3.

Here is My Kudo on a p40 for example:

Thanks for all the info. I'm still not sure about the look of the elbows and knees, but it might be worth the trade off if the MDDIII body is not as good as I had hoped.

Have people had floppiness and breaking issues with the new body as well?

The right elbow of my MDD3 pops off all the time when posing, and I've heard that's not uncommon... Although, mitsuki mentioned to mje that someone else had the problem, and glued the part on, so apparently it's not an actual joint. Otherwise, I haven't had any issues with the MDD3.

Hmm, I haven't had any issues. Mitsuki is still just a touch harder to stand than my other girls, but that's more to do with giant head above tiny feet I think. I've had no floppiness or loose elbows yet.

With mine the only issue I have for now is the head is sometimes a bit floppy.

I have heard problems with arms broken and falling though.

Sorry for out of subject but I would be interested by any comparison with obitsu 40 regarding possible issues and soundness.
