Coffee Posted August 1, 2012 I have a bit of a habit to collect random junk and stuff I like and find but I mainly collect games and game related stuff. It's the collection I have that I'm the most proud of since I've always enjoyed playing games since very, very young age. I probably have about 350+ games and a lot of random junk for them. I've also recently started collecting figurines. I decided it was about time since I've always been interested in buying "a few". orz I used to collect manga before, though I stopped when the local stores started selling them at overprice. Now I only buy some every once in a while or import some cheap game related manga when I can find them. Migon Posted August 1, 2012 The first thing I can say that I really started collecting must have been figurines. But then I slowed down with figurines and kinda started to collect video game consoles, so I had many different consoles but not many games for them at all. It was only when I met my girlfriend I really started to buy alot of games, well we both did, my video game collection went from around 50-ish games to over 175+ games in around a year. This year my girlfriend got me back into collecting figurines again and we have atleast two figurines ordered every month that will arrive until the end of the year. And I think it will be a lot more of them later too... Well it's only my wallet that cries even more now that I started to buy Dollfies. And damn you Good Smile Company for re-releasing figurines I want! My Saber collection. Seityan - DDIII Saber Extra, Kosma - DDIII KOS-MOS.
blueboy57 Posted August 6, 2012 I collected anime dvds pretty hardcore for awhile in college. Junior year of college I had my anime "collection" estimated at around $1200 and that's buying most stuff used or online. But since then I buy stuff only when it's cheap and I prefer box sets/complete collections b/c it's so frustrating trying to find each and every volume lol. I wouldn't really say I collect transformers, halo reach or comic book action figures, b/c it's more of a "I like this one, I'm going to get it" kinda thing. I do have all of the Square Enix Play Arts Kai Halo Reach figures though. I've decided recently to limit my comic/comic related item collecting to Power Girl/X-23/Bleez/Green Lantern items. I have the X-23 Bishoujo statue and plan on getting Power Girl when she comes out. I just picked up the mini ame-comi power girl when I was in Kansas for work. I would like to get more Yoko Littner stuff though. As of right now I only have a bootleg dakimakura, a plushie, and a print from an anime con. She's the reason I even became aware of this little hobby. Was searching ebay one day for yoko things..."they make a giant Yoko? Sign me up." Then I saw the price and died a little inside. finnleo Posted October 26, 2012 For some reason i've acbleepulated various sorts of things. The bulk of it would be my anime, and figure collection, soundtrack CD's and op/ED singles, some assorted general goods, and a few assorted arcane nick-nacks like a few Laserdisc sets of a few series and random anime cells. Some assorted doujinshi. I think the most amusing thing in my posession would be the first Haruhi Suzumiyas melancholy opening on a 45rpm vinyl record. Recently have put some more focus on collecting manga and novels as I got my bookshelfs in order. MFC link for the figures and random goods. anime shelf from a year ago, though not much in the way of visual growth, since collections take a lot less space these days than they used to.. heh and the arcane laserdiscs

Ayshel Posted October 28, 2012 I collect mangas, nana, d. gray man, death note, etc, and books, it's not anime stuff, but I really love books, mainly old books. My oldest book is an edition of "The divine Comedy" from 1800 and I rescued it from a second hand market ^^ Sophia (DDH06) and Sakura Matou at home
Eos Posted December 6, 2012 During my younger days were a relatively huge collection of Sailor Moon merchandise, from manga books to trading cards and sticker books. Right now I have lotsa manga books hanging around, some One Piece ships and POP figures, and a few 1/8 scale figurines. My hubby's an avid Nendoroid collector too
SchroedingersCat Posted December 9, 2012 For me it's mainly DVDs (and bluray). Last time I counted I had 260 unique titles, and the disk count was just over 800. And yes, except for the stuff I've bought most recently, I have watched it all Come my holidays I'm gonna knuckle down and watch all the new ones. I also collect manga, figures and magazines, and have a few plushies and film cels about the place. The core of my figure collection are my Tessa pieces (Full Metal Panic). I have Every. Last. One. Except for garage kits. I'm also slowly building a collection of Ikki Tousen pieces, aiming for one model of each of the major characters. Tasteful models only though, if I can't show it to a random visitor, it doesn't go in my collection. Now with +/- 15% more uncertainty!
Nigoki Posted December 10, 2012 Mostly figures and a smattering of Gunpla, but I've also picked up all manner of random other general goods (keyrings, bags, etc) that I don't really collect per se. The figures are mostly all 1/6 or 1/8 scale, but I've got a decently large collection of nendoroids that gobble ever more space. As far as media goes I've got a bit of manga and a number of light novels. I've bought a few Blu-Ray and DVDs over the years, but it's not exactly a large collection; most of the time I'd rather spend my dollars on DDs .

Of course, then the dangerous thing is that your anime collection will balloon faster without you knowing it. Trust me on this.... Mine's taking more space again though, but I think it's because of the BluRays. I haven't done anything to cut down on the amount of space they take up. Plus there's people like Disney and Funimation who insist on releasing BluRay + DVD sets, when I don't need the DVD discs, making more things in the case. Are you ready to rock? ^_^
SchroedingersCat Posted December 11, 2012 Yeah, those sets with the bluray and DVD are annoying as hell. It still surprises me that such a technologically forward looking group as the anime community still buy DVDs at all. Now with +/- 15% more uncertainty! Ravendruid Posted December 11, 2012 Yeah, those sets with the bluray and DVD are annoying as hell. It still surprises me that such a technologically forward looking group as the anime community still buy DVDs at all. We still don't have Blu-ray. We don't have any HD capable televisions, so it seems hard for us to justify the cost both of the player and the higher expense of the discs themselves. Pretty much all of our "free" money goes towards DDs or stuff for them so a fancy tv, when our currrent one works just fine for games, DVDs, and streaming video is just completely out of reach. We're actually pretty tech-forward in certain areas, like our computers, but in other areas we are almost luddites, we don't even own a cell phone. that being said, we do collect DVDs. We've also begun picking up a few wall scrolls (mostly Ouran so far). Daddy of: Yuriko, Sohi, Miku and SK's many kids
katnaper Posted December 12, 2012 Just started collecting some Manga as I wanted the official translations to them. That and I do like to re-read certain stories. I just have Ouran and Kamisama Kiss though, plus the Blood + novels. That and I'm getting back into collecting actual books but mostly the older mystery ones that aren't in ebook format. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. Yukamina Posted December 13, 2012 I have a bluray player, but most of the movies I buy are still DVD. I'm just kinda cheap and wait until movies I like are $5-10 before I buy them (unless it's a must have!). As long as the bluray version cost significantly more, I will probably the DVD version... Anyway, Bluray/DVD combo sets can be handy if you want to upgrade in the future, or if you're visiting someone who doesn't have a bluray player and you want to bring something to watch. On topic-wise... I buy anime, manga, and RPG games but not often. I LOVE anime, but mostly I enjoy the hobby by looking at art online, drawing, and downloading anime to watch (if it's really good and worth rewatching, that's when I'll buy it). SchroedingersCat Posted December 13, 2012 downloading anime to watch (if it's really good and worth rewatching, that's when I'll buy it). Yeah, that's mostly what I do these days. My dvd/bluray collection hasn't grown all that much the last few years since I started doing it this way. There's just so few series released lately that really grab me. Of course, it's fantastic that a few older series have finally started getting rereleases so that the dvds are actually obtainable. Cardcaptor Sakura, and Utena spring to mind immediately. XD Now with +/- 15% more uncertainty!

SchroedingersCat Posted December 14, 2012 Wait, is Cardcaptor Sakura available now? Indeed it is. It's from the Australian distributor Madman Entertainment, but they do ship overseas. Region 4, PAL format, 4:3 aspect ratio. Most modern TVs and DVD players don't really care about that, but I thought I'd mention it because some countries are a bit different. SchroedingersCat Posted December 15, 2012 I believe that a NA release is problematic at the moment because of the mess that Pioneer/Geneon left when they declared bankruptcy. There were a lot of series effected by that, and everything is only just starting to work out now. Hellsing Ultimate was caught up in the same problem, and has only just been resolved. Fujico Posted December 22, 2012 I love collecting anime merchandise. Figures, keychains, rubber straps, posters, everything~ I also love collecting doujinshi and other fanmade goodies too. I don't have a big DVD collection, but I also have a ton of manga. At Home ❥ Saber Alter v.2, M.O.M.O.
DJStarstryker Posted December 24, 2012 Anyway, Bluray/DVD combo sets can be handy if you want to upgrade in the future, or if you're visiting someone who doesn't have a bluray player and you want to bring something to watch. I personally hate the BluRay/DVD combo sets. It's not a problem for certain things, like the Disney releases. But for anime, it actually makes the sets more expensive than BluRay only or DVD only sets tend to be. If you look at a lot of the retail prices of Funimation's North American DVD + BluRay sets, you'll see what I mean. Interesting! But I think my blu-ray player can only play region 1. And word on a North American release? Doubtful it's going to get a re-release. There's pretty much only 2 big players in the North American anime releasing industry now - Funimation and Sentai Filmworks. There's smaller players like Rightsuf/Nozomi Entertainment and Aniplex USA, but for the most part, most anime is released by Funimation and Sentai. Simply put, CCS is too old and it's shoujo. Maybe Rightstuf will release it when it gets older. After all, they're releasing Rose of Versailles on DVD next year. Super excited about that. They've released Cardcaptor Sakura on BluRay here in Japan... But it doesn't have English subtitles and the price will surely make your wallet cry (22k yen x 3 box sets - $260 x 3 = $786). They're doing budget DVD re-releases here in Japan too, but they're Region 2, no English subs, and will still be 9k yen x 3 box sets ($106 x 3 = $318). Japan BluRay and DVD anime prices are really, really high though. That's why I still buy the North American releases. Are you ready to rock? ^_^
SchroedingersCat Posted December 24, 2012 Yeah, Japan still operates on the rental pricing model for movies and tv series, so the price of DVDs and bluray is hideously expensive. I've bought a few from Japan over the years, but they're not exactly a common occurrence for me. I honestly don't understand how they think it makes business sense to continue with that though. If they reduced the price and included a small selection of other languages subtitles, no one would ever bother waiting for a local release in their region. Sure, it would destroy companies like Funimation and that would be unfortunate, but even if we ended up paying just a little bit extra, it would be good for the anime community as a whole. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nozomi release Sakura, they just have to dig through the pile of Geneon's detritus. Now with +/- 15% more uncertainty!
