What is your limit?

Being a model builder, I decided that I wanted to try my hand at doing my own creation which came to be known as Sae.

 

It took me 6 months to get to that stage.

 

By then I was committed to a 10 holiday in Japan, so set my sites on either Aoi or Yukino. I ended up with Aoi.

 

Two is fine, but I still had 3 other characters I wanted to created, so Tomomi came into life just before Christmas with my other two still on the drawing board.

 

Now I'm up to three, with a forth; Yukino on layaway at dollfie world.

 

From there I still plan to creat my own remaining girls and then go for a an anime based character or two jsut to break things up.

 

I'd say my limit may be around 8, but you never know what will come along next.

To me my goal would be one of each type of dollfie dream. A mini dollfie dream, a DD dynamite and Base body II(and possible III), and a dollfie dream sister. Then I would probably just buy character based dollfie dreams from then on...:p

I have no limit, as long as I can aquire them and make custom ones to my satisfaction, the only true limit is physical storage space...and even then I'm sure I can make arrangements...

I quit giving myself a limit as I'm always breaking them. I told my hubby last year that I wasn't getting any more dolls after I won Millhi and got myself Kaylus, but not only had I pre-ordered both Sabers, I got myself my Yuuto and a custom head as well as 2 Sq lab heads that will need bodies. Sigh. I keep telling myself that I don't need a Yuki, Sasara or Rin but I' m sure if a reasonably priced one showed up i'd get it.

I think maybe one more, just to keep Tana company while I'm at work and such. I do want to space the purchase out over at least six months or so, else I see myself going overboard on buying too much.

Planning on continuing Tana's story, I'm looking at making two more OCs using SmD Chitose as a base.

 

"Limits"? I kinda forgot/neglected to remember the meaning........

I've been collecting for several years and I remember telling myself when I first started that there's no way I would end up with a dozen and that I would limit myself to four at the most.. It's been about six years since I started my interest in DD's and now I have 22 hehe.

No limit at the moment but I seriously need to set one soon, if not I'll be having a "small" family soon

Clothing & accessories seem to have no limit, with me jumping at the ones I like as soon as I see it

I did start with only one, as a companion to my obitsu, and who needs more. And then she looked kinda lonley, so I got another one. Well....I kinda got one more, since she was cute. I don't think Il ever get a limit on number of dolls, just the price pr doll

Lemme see, I started collecting DDs in Feb of 2010. I got two all at once from mandarake (Rei and Mari), I said I just need Asuka and that's it. Well, hubby agreed to get me Beatrice if I won her from the international lottery and so DD # 3 came about. Then I sort of held off for a while but then in a Saber Lily came out for a reasonable price and I seriously had to get her (as in I put in serious overtime just to be able to pay for her ). I said that was the last, but then Asuka came out from Mandarake for 65,000 yen and I really had to have her, so guess what? But before that I got Airy 2nd hand for a fair deal too so that was DD # 6. I told myself that 3 a year was my limit but yeah, 2011 hadn't even ended and I had entered the lottery for Millhi, put in pre-orders for both Sabers. And got myself an Iplehouse SID Barahan before the year was out. Had I won Lucy that would have been #10. As it is I'm entering the lottery for Rise and Sakuya once its open. So yeah, limit? Is there such a word? My husband just tells me, as long as I can pay for it, then its okay. Granted I have to work some overtime and make a few cakes, well, its fine. I'd have to save up for this coming one though. And yeah, I should really stop stalking Volks' website or DD groups.

Trying to set a limit is pretty hard but I think I don't want to go anywhere above 5.

Too many and I think that I don't have time for them. Volks will also keep releasing new things so if you don't restrain yourself you might end up with a huge family that keeps growing.

When I started out in BJD hobby I *did* plan on just one... Yeah, that never works I went 2 years with just Sasara before ordering my second and third. (They're not here yet, so I still just have one!)

 

I'm not even going to try setting a limit for myself, my budget does that for me already! XD

When I started with Mio, who arrived in February 2011, I figured she'd be the only one I'd have.

Within less than 1 month I had picked up Makinami Mari Illustrious, to which I told myself "no more".

One year later... February 2012, I'm at a total of 13 with 3 more on the way...

April 2012 hits and with it the arrival of #15, with 2 on the way.

 

I have 8 here with me, 5 are in storage with the rest of my stuff from Japan (I was medically evacuated from Japan due to issues I care not to expand upon at this time), 2 are at my parents' house (Airy and Mariko-sensei, neither of which I have even seen in person yet), and the two that are "on the way" are the two Sabers from the Type Moon DDIII project which haven't shipped just yet.

 

I have resigned myself to no limit aside from of course the limits of space and money... lol

I am currently asking this to myself...what is my limit?

I told 3, after 5, and now I will probably end with 8 DD/MDD at the middle of the year.

Only with DD. Because if I take SD/YoSD in consideration...

I have to admit I feel quite guilty with this.

Just my 2 cents though.

I've been wondering about this for a while now... When I very first got into DD's and bought Sophie off figure.fm I told my boyfriend "It doesn't matter which one I have I just need one" ... Haha yeah as you can tell by that statement I hadnt found the true DD charm yet, but I soon did. That was late 2010, 4 more girls joined the family and 2010 and With another 9 girls being set to join my family by the middle of 2012 I'm starting to think the word limit only depends on my bank balance...

I managed to keep 6 DDs as my limit for two years. I had carefully considered if I wanted a certain doll and convinced myself that I didn't have money or enough interest. Apparently world was backing me up in the end of last year as in my fancy of SQ-labs heads I tried YJA auctions for several heads and I never won...

 

When Maria arrived before Easter my 6 doll limit was filled and in few days the limit will be history as Haruka arrives. I hope the next limiter won't be my bank balance ^^;

Originally it was supposed to be only one (Kanu) but that theory kind of got shot to hell before she even arrived as I ended up ordering Ryomou to go along with her; they both ended up arriving on the same day. They are the perfect pair after all, how could I get one but the other? Eventually a hard cap was set at 20, with Saber Lily being my last one for a while... but now I'm going to be six over fairly soon (three preorders, two customs nearing completion and Maria in the mail). After a general doll population explosion over the holidays, the rules have been reevaluated as the number caps thing wasn't working very well. I now have a doll room, all dolls are to live in doll room and I can get as many dolls as my budget allows as long as I can fit them in the doll room (they have to be displayed nicely)... unfortunately space is finite so I really have to carefully consider all purchases of large dolls like DD.

 

The good news is since converting the spare bedroom into the doll room (there is still a futon in there, so it is technically still viable) we seem to have a lot less unwanted overnight guests for some reason

I think I will do 5 DDs, 2 YoSDs, and 4SDs. Reason why I'm limiting myself is because I also collect resin and I don't have my own apartment. When I move out, I won't have a limit anymore.

My limit? depends, right now, I don't have any grail or unicorn doll but as long I have my arm and liver to sell, nothing's gonna stop me.

I have the Limiter Removal spell card and the Limiter Overload Trap card. I also have Limit Break ability.

My limit is: The day that they all start looking the same and loose that magic and individuality is the day I need to stop. I want them to stay special and unique. ^_^ Now what that number is, I have know idea. Could be 2, could be 20... lol

Eheheh DD is really like a drug (I say unfortunately, because they're price is really high sometimes), I've for this moment 3 DD (2 MDD Kud and Louise) and 1 DD (Lucy Maria), but now I'm in love for Rise... So in my mind I think "after Lucy for example, no more DD" but is really difficult because sometimes Volks produce some very beautiful and special DD

I really can't say I have a limit. I'm still trying to get past 1...... I guess i'd have to say as long as my house isn't overflowing and I can still pay my bills, there really isn't a limit in my mind.

No set limit for me. I'll continue to add to my collection as long as Volks keeps producing girls that I like.

My plan was to get just Melty and that would be it. One dollfie and then be satisfied that I had at least one in my collection. But then I fell in love with Aoko's face and then they announced preorders for MOMO and KOS-MOS and I just couldn't resist! Now I've already made up a list of about 7 dollfies that I WILL own one day, and after that I will just focus on new releases and hope that I will like just 1 for every lottery and not all of them.

 

But actually, after joining this forum, I've been exposed to so many other dollfies that I feel like adding onto my wish list >.< so yeah, I don't feel like there will be a limit for me so long as I can afford this hobby.
