How to paint freckles?

Hello ^w^ I'm getting a DDH-02 soon and she already has a face up but I really want to give her freckles I just don't know how D: I don't wanna mess it up ;A; Any tips would be great

Anouc and LittleBearries have both freckled DD's so they would be the best at helping with this topic!

A friend of mine do the following:

 

 

Very well thinned paint and a toothbrush! She uses an blade on the toothbrush making a this spray.

 

(don't know how to explain this in english...)

Yeah - Not sure why I didn't tell you XD Tis only her head though. I was mainly able to pay of over half of her today thanks to my custom eye store ;D I asked a fellow member on FFM to hold her for me until I had the money so I felt while I had some money I'd pay most of her off hahah ^w^ Not much info to tell really. She'll be called Tsubaki And she's shy but not too shy Oh and thankies XD

I have asked them both - LittleBearries told me a way but when I tried it on an old doll I have it failed =_= and Anouc hasn't replied yet ^w^

Ah thank you =D

Using a tooth-brush can lead to...well, different results. I would only recommend it for a heavy case of freckles (i.e. whole head) since you will get a lot of freckles in different sizes. It's rather hard to control since it simply splashes around everywhere, but if you cover the parts you don't want to freckle it can happen that you get "half" freckles.

Or it looks TOO perfectly shaped, instead of various freckles following a natural curve you have one big, clean cut stripe on her face.

 

Best way is layering.

I usually start with making soft and lighter freckles with a fery fine brush, water and pastell chalk.

Scratch off a bit of the pastel chalk in a tiny bowl, use a bit water to make it a light liquid and start making small and light spots.

Make some smaller and bigger and also lighter and darker.

Repeat it several times, and then use acrylic paint with water for some darker spots.

It can also help to blush the area very softly before applying freckles, it helps making them more visible.

Also look at pictures of freckled persons, freckles don't look like chicken pox or other weird stuff in your face.

Those freckles you painted are amazing! I have freckles myself and I have more on right side then my left. I'm still really scared to do it and I love my girls face the way it is for now - my second girl will probably have freckles though. Thanks for the tips though!!!

I use same technique, it is time consuming! I use darker colors for more exaggerated freckles.

This tutorial is pretty much exactly how I do my freckles... except I water the paint down a little more.
