Alphakitty Posted April 11, 2011 I've recently been trying to cut down on Dollfie purchases, especially since I plan on getting Nellis and Aerie and I don't feel like spending any more on them at the moment, but recently an auction popped up on Yahoo Japan that I could not resist... One look at that face and I was in love. I've been thinking of making a Kirino dollfie for a while, but the fact that a custom painted head that looked JUST like her went up was just too much to resist! Sadly, I lost the auction (by 500 yen ;~;) but a few days later an unpainted version of the head popped up and I managed to snag it for a very good price. I'm going to get the faceup done very similar to the head that I lost, with a few modifications so that it looks even more like Kirino. So then I decided, no more! 8 Dollfies (if I get Aerie & Nellis) is enough for now! Sadly, this popped up late last week: KURONEKO! The first auction was for just the face, and again I lost, but the very next day an auction for the full set (wig, face, eyes & clothing, no body) appeared! I tried to resist, but the bf decided that we couldn't have Kiririn without Kuroneko. So we went for it, and as luck would have it, we got her for only 4k more than just the face went for. In the picture Kuroneko is on an Obitsu 50 body, so we've decided to go for that for both of them. I want them to be a bit smaller than my other girls, but not MDD sized, and very lanky. The Obitsu body looks perfect! I've also found a dress that looks just like hers for a really good price, and most of the outfits from the series will be very easy to re-create. However, I haven't had any luck finding an MDD/Obitsu 50 school uniform that will work for Kirino. I want it to look as close as possible to her actual uniform. Does anyone have any suggestions for uniforms? This was also after missing out on a Rina head by 500 yen the same day as we missed out on the Kirino head by 500 yen. No offense, but I think both of your auctions were sniped. Damn those snipers! I hope they are not cats (or dogs)! Anyways, glad to see that you got your hands on an unpainted Kirino custom head. baldylox Posted April 11, 2011 Very nice! I have not seen the anime these girls are from but I do like the character designs of them. Their faces seem to be very expressive and not just with the eyes. Congrats on getting the head, please share when you get it all finished! I actually got really good deals on both sets! The unpainted head was 10k and the full Kuroneko set was 46k. Cheaper than my other Dollfies (excpet for Soniko), even with the bodies I will have to buy! Though I've seen their stuff go for crazy prices, apparently the first time they put up the Kuro-style head it sold for 190k o.o ¥500 - that's about $5.90 I think. Alphakitty Posted April 23, 2011 A quick update on these two gals: we've contacted Hikaru to do the faceup for Kirino, and we managed to win the SQ-Labs eyes that match her! However, they went up WAY higher than I was expecting. We've been outbid by 500 yen so many times, and once by 30, so we thought we'd just put our max bid at something crazy no one would get close to. Turns out... people WERE willing to go up pretty high and they ended up going for almost 5k. For eyes. ^^; Well, I suppose Kirino is worth it! I don't know if these are really "very special" since SQ labs has put up more now starting at 700jpy and they have had them listed before too. :3 The previous ones apparently went up for a crazy price too--people treat them as Kirino's eyes, not his regular custom eyes (which usually go for 1,500 to 3,000 yen), so they're surprisingly hard to get. And considering that, what, maybe 5 pairs of these exact have gone up (as opposed to the hundreds of Kanu eyes) I think we made out pretty well. I would have liked to pay less, but in the end she's worth it. Alphakitty Posted May 6, 2011 After a long wait, the heads are finally here! Kuroneko looks so delightfully pissy! These are the eyes the set came with, but she has red eyes usually so we snagged a pair for her (also from SQ-Lab) that will take a while to come. Also, SQ-Lab heads have an indent for the eyes so they are soooo much easier to put in. Why doesn't Volks do this?! Wig and outfit! And here's the unpainted Kirino head and her wig. The head will be sent off to Hikaru for faceup soon, she looks so silly with a "naked" face. The outfits really are quite elaborate, I was amazed at the detail!
