Liquitex Brand Acrylics on DD heads?

I just ordered my DDH-04 head and the 24mm animetic eyes. Yay!

 

I almost ordered the ZM acrylic paints from Volks USA... but since I'm a designer/artist I already have acrylics so I assume its ok to use Liquitex brand acrylics for doing the faceups? I'm guessing all acrylic paints (well artist quality) are ok on the vinyl.. but I wanted to make sure since it'll be my very first faceup XD

 

I did buy one tiny bottle of thinner, and their gloss and gloss thinner and some sable brushes. I also got the little waterbased marker pen that they suggested for doing the preliminary planning for eyebrows/lashes/etc.

Yay congratulations! Those acrylics should work fine but be warned as red pigment could go though the sealant and stain your girl. All though I'm not to sure about the water based pen most people I've heard use it say that it's better to use pencil as it does erase off of the head easily. I hope that it turns out great, painting DD faces are alot of fun:)

Yeah, the Liquitex is going to be fine. It's the sealant you need to be careful with--some, like Testor's Dull Coat, react badly with vinyl and end up a nasty, sticky mess. You're safest with either Mister Super Clear Flat or Volks Zokeimura Powder Spray.

Congrats! I also ordered a HDD-04 this week to try my first face-up. I ordered some some brushes and the finishing spray because I'm pretty sure I can borrow/buy locally everything else. I decided to skip on the pen and just use pencil for initial markings. I also bought some eye putty and a couple pairs of eyes to try out.

Yeah at first when I had my shopping cart I saw the total and kinda went... wait... do i need some of this stuff? Then looked over at my art closet and just started deleting stuff. lol

 

So what I didn't buy for supplies I was able to get the little white MDD boots that I couldn't get during the Dolpa sale. caching!

 

Though I did buy the ZM spray for sure - I read somewhere that MSC is great but turns shiny quicker than the ZM spray? Either way, going to try to make a habit to wear gloves or something when I mess with the doll after the face up... XD
