Rei and Asuka customs

I know Billy couldn't wait for me to start this thread but I'll try to address the s bust or m bust debate in here.

 

So this is my plan so far:

 

Asuka DD

Taking the Volks Asuka and having her faceup redone by Hikaru. Currently bidding on eyes that will compliment Rei's. She comes default with an m bust but maybe an s bust would be truer to character as Billy suggested?

 

Rei DD

Taking a blank DHH-02 in white and getting the faceup done by Hikaru. Will purchase white body from Volks and get a couple whisper blue wigs from LeekeWorld. Already won an auction for red eyes I think will work well. Should I go with an m bust or an s bust though? Personally it'd be nice to have DDS bodies, I may put them on DDS's once they're available more readily (and of course in white for Rei!)

 

I will grab a picture of the red eyes and the blue eyes I'm bidding on so you can all see.

So any suggestions as far as bust size, wig styles/colours, etc for either of these girls?

Those blue eyes look nice, they should work well for Asuka! Actually, I think the DD pictured looks a lot like Asuka... If her hair was just a bit darker... The red eyes for Rei look nice as well.

 

I would go with the M-bust for Asuka. It's a hard call though... Rei could have either M or L.

 

What are you thinking for Asuka's wig? Will you stick with the red one from Volks, or look for strawberry blonde one? Have you found a source for her little hair thingies?

I think the DD modelling the blue eyes is Natsuki and the one modelling the red ones is definitely Yuki.

 

I saw a few wigs in a rusty colour that I think would look good on Asuka, though obviously without the styling. If I can find anything in a ginger-blonde (or if Leeke does a limited colour I like for her) then I'll be getting her something from them. I also don't have much of a problem dressing her in a red-brown wig since there seems to be SO many different colours of hair for her. ^^;

Their bust size fluctuates SO much, either girl could be an M or L. Think of the scene where Shinji ends up grabbing Rei's boob--L bust! In the suit, though, she and Asuka are Ms (even though Asuka at times has a ginormous bust). Ah Eva, the show of constant boob-changes. Hair color too is all over the place, but you got the nifty wig for Rei in the Leeke sale right? ^^

From the pictures you show for eyes, the ones for Asuka look great. Those are a good color and look nice in that model.

 

The "red" eyes tho, *to me* look way too purple. Rei has RED eyes in the show and movies. So I think those need to be darker/brighter red in color to be more accurate.

 

As far as busts go, the drawing Halcyon posted of Asuka is very close to most interpretations of her. And that to me looks like an S-bust. But, as someone else stated, bust sizes seem to grow and shrink throughout the show. I still think Rei is always shown as having a larger chest than Asuka has. Neither of them are L-busts in my opinion. So if it were me doing customs, Rei would be an M-bust and Asuka would be an S-bust. Well, I lie, Asuka would be an M-bust as well because the S-bust does nothing for me. But that's only if *I* were doing these for myself.

 

That custom cut wig look really good too, the color is spot on IMO.

 

Good discussion topic tho, I like seeing how other people "see" these two girls!

I did grab a blue wig in the Leeke event that'll look good on Rei And yes their busts fluctuate SO much.. I may leave them as M's for a long time, but Elle's in an S-bust so I can always just see how it looks on Asuka.. ^_^

Cute picture mitsuki! Hopefully the lighting tomorrow will give you a better shot. Rei's hair colour changes a lot, so I'm really open to everything from the darker to the lighter spectrum. I did order a wig in the limited lighter blue, though I think their regular blue colour is also really nice.

That colour of the wig you have is AMAZINGLY close to the "ideal" i picture for Asuka! Can you link me to Parabox's site?

Now that I see the red on here it does look like a purpley purple. We'll see what they look like in person, they came bundled with a set I need for Top Secret Dollfie #3 so it's no loss! Plus Volks offers a LARGE selection of red eyes for me to consider as well!

I have to agree with redder eyes for Rei. As for their busts... in their plug suits I think they're both an S. Are you making their suits, or going for casual looks?

If I get some time this weekend I'll photograph my s-bust next to my m-bust so you guys can see the difference. It seems like the s-bust isn't very common though I LOVE the way it looks on the dolls.

Even just due to the shape I'd lean towards the s. I love big round breasts as much as the next person out there, but the Eva girls always seemed to have that pointed, budding teenage look in my opinion.

Now that I'm fully awake (and home from work) I see that is definately Natsuki modeling the blue eyes. I've always thought Natsuki looks alot like Asuka.

 

The bust sizes do seem to change depending on the artist. I have to admit, if I were going all out on custom Eva Dollfies, I'd wait for the DDS body to become more widely available, and use that. (though, I have no idea which headsculpt would work for Misato, which makes my idea kind of futile...)

Angel Blue was one of the limited colors over the summer, right? So I don't think you can order it anymore, though occasionally limited wigs pop up on YJ. But their Spring Sale is still going on, and that style might look really nice in Cadet Blue.
