Ah yes, LordNoir, I remember seeing your photos on DoA. Since you're an SQ Lab dealer, do you know when the 31 cm body will be available? I am in total love with it, and SQ Lab's prices are so reasonable too!

Unfortunately,the only word I have gotten from SQ Lab regarding that release was "Soon."

 

However, I do know that when released, the KSG-L body + head( choice between Moe, Tsubaki or Ren) will be $200 unpainted or $290 with the default face-up.

LordNoir! Do you know if they will be releasing more types of chibi heads? 0:

I haven't heard anything to confirm that there will be more chibi head sculpts yet, but I have my suspicions that we might see a couple more released in the coming months.

 

Last part of the SQ order is set to come in later today, tomorrow at the latest. Hopefully all will come in fine and I'll be able to get my camera to work to get a few decent pictures.

I really love this body, and it's more what i'm used to since I mainly own resin dolls. I do think she would be improved by a torso joint though.

OMG! I got my last box and you'll never guess what I found set on top of one of the bodies I ordered - it was a 31cm body in white with a Chibi ren head!

 

Here she is~! She's so cute! I just threw in a quick pair of eyes I had laying around.

 

She poses quite nicely, just like the regular KSG body, though the torso joint does allow her to twist and bend slightly, not much though. Here she is in a DollHeart Yo-SD sized dress.

 

Next to Chibi Moe on the KSG body. It's not a huge height difference, but still so cute, like a slightly older sister.

 

Now for a height comparison. In this picture, the girl I have been painting and styling as my boyfriend's Christmas present is assisting. She's an SQ Ryoko on the SG body.

Ah, that's awesome, LordNoir! 31 body AND chibi Ren head. How tall is that SD body you have next to her?

It's the SQ Lab SG Body with the flat feet, so about 50cm tall.

Ah, okay, that's what I thought. I'd be interested in seeing the 31cm body next to a 60cm or taller body (since most of my planned doll family will be 60cm+).

Yep! She's white skin. The White SQ Lab matches DD White quite well (only a slight hint pinker, but with a face-up I doubt it would be noticed.)

I do, but I warn you it does look pretty-bobbled headed.

does anyone know of a guide or how-to on swapping the hands on the SQLABS SG body?

never done it before with the string and don't want to screw it up. thanks~

Swapping the hands is actually really easy on the SG body.

 

I recommend using a latch hook, which can be gotten at any store with knitting/crochet section, but it isn't absolutely needed.

 

- What you will do is take hold of one hand(left or right) and pull it straight outwards until you see a metal hook. This is the s-hook for the hands.

 

- Once you have pulled the s-hook passed the wrist cuff, look for the indents inside the wrist cuff. Turn the s-hook so it rests comfortably in these indents and then release. The s-hook should remain within the indents and not slink back into the arm hole.

 

- With that done, carefully remove the string with the hand from the s-hook.

 

- Replace it with the option hands.

 

- Once the option hands are secured, turn the s-hook off of the rests and gently allow it to return into the arm hole. Be sure to keep a good grip on the hand when doing this, because it if hits against the resin of the arm too quickly you could crack or chip the doll.

I'd like to customize a doll based on Hanato Kobato, but I haven't decided which type of doll, just probably not DD & something in 27-30cm range for a chibi version of the character.

It actually isn't technically a hybrid, as that would imply that the head and body are from separate companies.

 

It's an SQ Lab normal sized head on the SQ Lab KSG-L ( 31cm) body, which has yet to be released.

 

I took the photo as asked to show what the larger heads looked like on the smaller bodies from SQ. It isn't my cup of tea at all to be honest. It reminds me a little bit too much of Pullips, and I've never particularly liked their aesthetic for my own collection.

SQ bodies can definitely take the Volks heads, they were designed that way. I don't actually know how an Obitsu head mounts, so I can't comment there... Putting a full sized DD head on a 31 cm body would look a tad odd. XD

The only word I have on the release is "soon", but that could be tomorrow or three months from now. :/

 

Yes, the upper torso joint does move around and works rather well given the size of the doll. I'll have to do a posing photoshoot with her sometime soon. My 31cm is getting a little work done to better fit the part of a half-human, half-dragon.

I've been saving for the 31cm body since I ever saw the first preview pictures. But then Parabox finally re-stocked the 40cm bodies and I know they get snatched very quick. It would be really bad if I spent the money on said body and then SQlabs finally released this new girl =_=

 

I sent an email to this Kanalcode person but never got a reply about the release of the new body.

i'm getting some wear on the resin on my SQ labs knees at the very top. you cant see it unless you bend the knees out. and also getting some on the back of the thigh part that's hidden under her bum when the legs are fully straight.

 

is this normal or am i bending the legs in a way that's causing them to rub against each other somewhere inside?
