Collecting Photos of DDIII & DDS Cracks

Hey everyone! I need your help! Can you post within this thread all the pictures you have of your DDIII and DDS cracks? If you could throw in some information too that would be much appreciated. I'd like to send the photos to Volks once I feel there have been enough collected.

Doll Type: Yukino v.2

When doll was purchased: April 18, 2012

Where doll was purchased from Volks USA

When the crack(s) was/were discovered 1st issue was on the day she arrived

Location of the crack(s) Shoulder, elbow and hip

Total # of crack(s) 4

If problem was solved not at the moment

 

 

 

 

DDS bodies have been suffering from a similar fate. Would you like those pics?

Doll type: Moe version 2

When doll was purchased: early 2012

Where doll was purchased from (directly from company or second hand): second hand, barely used

When the crack(s) was/were discovered: about a week after she arrived, very little handling

Location of the crack(s): shoulder

Total # of crack(s): 2, to completely sever the shoulder socket

If problem was solved (either through Volks or homemade fixes): original owner contacted Volks, but two week period was over. Fixed with epoxy using Baldylox's method and sanding of pegs. Result is functional but the arm is loose, likely from over sanding.

PrettyCranium - Thank you so much for posting your pics. Sorry your doll is another victim in this tragedy.

I have quite a lot of cracks to add to this listing, although I do not have pictures of them all atm. I'll try to add them sometime within the coming week.

 

So far my Moe 2nd, DDS Akira, and Yukino 2nd all have varying degrees of cracks. Moe 2nd has had at least 3 sets of cracks in each shoulder socket, both of the shoulder socket screw posts sheared off, and both hip sockets had rather large cracks in them. I've managed to perform home repairs on all but the severed screw posts.

DDS Akira has only 1 cracked shoulder, and both hip sockets cracked. I fixed the shoulder, and performed a stop gap repair to the hips to prevent further cracking.

I discovered this week that my Yukino 2nd has a sheared right shoulder socket similar to the picture PrettyCranium posted. Her other shoulder is also at least mildly cracked, along with a severe crack in one hip, and a minor crack in the other. No repairs have been performed as of yet.

So far the only one who hasn't cracked (at least noticeably through movements) is Aoi 2nd.

Bad news...

 

My Yukino v.2 has 2 new cracks, and her previous cracks are getting worse. This is now 6 cracks total. I can't do anything with her now, she might live in her carrying case until some time in the distant future Volks offers replacement parts for DDIII. I'm beyond frustrated.

 

 

 

The crack is really small right now and difficult to see, but it's there.

 

 

Temporary fix, it doesn't seem good enough as a new crack has begun to develop.
