What dolls have you owned?

Recommended Posts

Gunter

So, as the title states, what dolls have you at some point in time owned? Or have you simply never sold a single doll? Is there any reason you have sold a doll? And by "doll" I mean like DD, Azone, BJD, Pullip, Etc, etc. Anything really! I always find it kinda of interesting to see what people have had in their "doll history."

As far as my doll collecting time has gone, I really only count the time I've collected DD's. Before then the only "dolls" I ever owned were of the Star Wars variety, all 12 inch ones that never came out of the boxes. Most of those got osld off to help fund a vacation to Japan back in 2010.

As for more recent events, every Dd I have purchased, I have kept. I'm pretty big on collecting and once I buy, I rarely sell off. That being said, I did buy 3 different Pure Neemo girls from a friend or two and sold those off to Littlebearries. I liked the PN girls a lot but they just didn't have a place in my family storywise. I had them in some stories but they were never the focus and they never really had their own "voice". So instead of letting them sit here and be ignored, I sold them off knowing they would be loved and appreciated more elsewhere.

The only reason I'd sell any of my girls now is if I got in some finacial trouble and HAD to get money quickly. Otherwise, I'd sell off anything else I could before resorting to selling my girls.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

I just had one Pullip, Asuka. I sold her because I found her way antic with her tiny body and enormous head. Also, I am quite scared of Blythes, too. I had some Barbies too, and many cartoon inspired dolls, but nothing "serious". I has some Revoltech I sold because I didn't like their big joints. I've never owned other figmas, BJDs, Azones, etc.

I've been through a few different kinds of dolls, but not a ton. I do tend to go a little overboard once I start collecting something... I've probably sold more than 100 dolls in my collecting history. Apparently I'm quite fickle! It seems the "first" are especially doomed to sales. I only have two "firsts" still in my possession.

Barbies (the fancy ones for collectors)

Pinky:St (nearly 40 or so at one point!)

Pullips (nearly 30 or so at one point!)

BJDs

DDs

"Ai" by Groove (only 1, I had restraint)

Blythe (only 1, decided she wasn't for me)

I've been sorely tempted by Figmas and Pure Neemos, but so far have not sucbleepbed.

I collect bjds, and pinky:st figures.

I did sell a bunch of my pinky:st about 5 years ago, but ive recently started buying more again.

Ive bought 22 in the past month lol!

bjd's ive bought and sold so many aswell xD

If i see something i love more, than what i currently have, usually i end up selling what i have to get the new things. I dont really like to have TOO many of something pile up, because i cant really divide my attention too well to them all. And my personal tastes changed alot.

ive been staring at figmas so much lately... i want one

They remind me of the busou shinki figure i had in high school~ who was so cool xD

I've owned more SailorMoon dolls (both official and fan-made) than should be allowed

also Sega Chara Doll Selection dolls for Rayearth and Sakura Taisen.. and all those lil bendy ccSakura dolls (both US and Japan release)

then for a while nothing happened.. then got a Ruri from Nadesico doll which cost over 100bucks which was pure madness at the time (why is her hair white!?! WHYYYYY)

Faye Valentine doll followed, which was just as crazy-expensive. While she was a Volks doll, you couldn't really pose her at all (tho could dress her up in Rei Hino's miko outfit!) Soon she was followed by another Volks doll, but this one had joints and could be posed and even had lil extra feet: Kenshin

He was kinda cool, but the joints did bug me a bit

another long period of quiet, selling off my anime toys to get Azunyan Azone doll

and then her arms falling apart all the damn time really got on my nerves so enter MDD!

been there ever since

I still own many different types of dolls, there may come a point where I no longer actively pursue collecting certain types but I very rarely get rid of them.

Let's see I've got Sailor Moon dolls, Cardcaptor Sakura dolls, Pinky Street, azone, pure neemo, megahouse, hot toys (if they count as dolls?) plus various other comic-y type dolls like the Harley Quinn tonner doll, Monster High dolls, Mama Chapp, fashion victims living dead dolls, vintage oddities like Peteena and Strawberry Shortcake, Ddung dolls, Lalaloopsy, J-dolls, Hestia, Blythe, Bjd and of course Pullip and company. Of those I still actively collect bjds and pullips and company, I may pick up another odd doll every now and again for variety though (currently eyeing the Hitgirl Living Dead Doll) and well mini Lalaloopsies don't count they are tiny and cute. I haven't 100% decided on if I will continue to collect Monster High their elusiveness annoys me coupled with the fact that space is finite in the doll room and their is currently a fight for space between the My Little Ponies and MH and I think I prefer the MLP ^^;

I have sold some dolls, blythe has the highest turnover rate as I have mixed feelings about blythe some I really love and some I absolutely hate only I can't always tell by photos so they have a habit of going back up for sale on the day or the day after their arrival- this has now happened over 40 times. I currently have seven but see myself going down another two especially as we near another dolpa I've sold six of my bjds over the years, I have two actively up for sale and am thinking about selling two of the others as well I'd still have over 40 though even I sold them (mostly tinies). I have sold/traded around 75 dolls from the Pullip line over the years, I actually sold six just in the past week- I may even go through and try and pick out a few more to rehome. I have quite a number of pullips so it is important to thin the ranks occasionally less the numbers become too obscene most were dolls that didn't fit in or in certain cases customs I had bought that were no longer to my taste.

I have never sold a DD but I plan on trading a head I have inbound, I really liked the head hence why I bought it but then I realized it would require a body eventually and there are already quite a few dolls without bodies here already and I know one of my friends was wanting her own DD so we worked out a trade agreement for the head. Of course now I am in the process of buying another head but we're just not going to mention that.

I like dolls, but I also don't like keeping material goods that I don't have strong feelings about. As a result, I've sold quite a few dolls.

Pullips were my first foray into dolls other than childhood Barbies. I really like the stylization of Pullips and their outfits and faces, but I don't feel very inspired to take photos of them. I really only like to keep dolls that I enjoy photographing. During my first "wave" of Pullips, I owned 5, then I sold them all. In my second "wave" when I re-discovered the hobby several years later, I owned 4, all of whom are now sold. Thus in total I've sold 9 Pullip dolls (and 1 mini Pullip).

At one point I owned quite a few Pinky:st, but I didn't really keep track of their numbers. They are also all sold. They were really cute, but I just didn't do much with them in general.

When I gained an interest in ball-jointed dolls I made a few purchases that didn't really work out for me. I sold my first doll because she became more of a decoration than what I wanted in a doll. There was another doll that I bought at an event because she was limited, only to receive her and realize I wasn't interested--in total I've sold 2.

A friend tried to get my interested in Lalaloopsy dolls, but although I haven't sold any I'm glad I didn't buy any and only have the doll that she gave me as a gift, or I certainly would have sold them by now.

I'm also trying to resist Pure Neemo dolls; I'm pretty sure it would be an outcome similar to the Pullips or Pinky:st.

My remaining dolls are two ball-jointed dolls and one Dollfie Dream. I've never sold a Dollfie Dream, but I've also haven't bought a second one.

I've been a Barbie doll collector since I was a kid. I've sold most of the older ones off, but I like some of the newer dolls Mattel has been offering lately. I also collect Momoko dolls and some Fashion Royalty dolls. Lol, how could I forget my small resin BJD collection? I hope they don't beat me tonight!

I have an Elfdoll Sooah and a B&G Rin.

Since Dollfie Dreams are so expensive though, most of my money has been going to them. For me, one full set DD is the same as three Petworks CCS Momokos.

My list is quite ridiculous

I'd had random collector barbies as a child (who didn't), and when I was a huge sailor moon fan as a child, I'd found a couple of sailor moon dolls at flea markets, so I had those too - but I was never really a serious doll collector till 2008 (unless you want to consider MLP dolls >_> then I started back in 05 :B)

I started back in February of 2008 with a Pullip Souseiseki. I was a freshman in college. That was my very first doll purchase as a proud dolly owner.

for the next few months I did pullips and went through about... 8 or 10 of them (including dals and taeyangs)

In september of 08, I got my first BJD! an Angel of Dream Wang Zi then... everything just exploded.

I've been through some obnoxious amount of BJDs, probably about 30 or 40 at this point.

I currently have 18 BJDs 8D... fml.

though, I will say that 4 or 5 of them are rolling heads...... that's still... sad... XD I SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS MANY

I am selling two of them though *shrugs* going to bring in my DD with the money from those two though

Luke // Volks SD13 Heath

Kayson // Luts Delf Soony

Seneca // Luts Delf Miyu

Fee // Volks SD13 Nono (souldoll hybrid) (possibly not, currently selling)

Coat // Angel Region Warrick (head)

Fiasco // Luts Senior Delf Summery 09 (AOD Hybrid)

Sammy // Supiadollz Lina (Boy)

Meadow // Migidoll Ryu (Soom Gem Hybrid)

Jake // Leeke Lion

Ashley // Leeke "unsold head"

Amaury // Luts Delf Dreaming El

Joeby // DoD DoT E-An

Erin // Minifee Rheia

Fleur // Dollzone Raphael (possibly not, currently selling)

Joon // Soom Ai

Riley // Bluefairy Hana (Minoru Junior hybrid)

Bellamy // Bluefairy Andy

Jinny // Lati Yellow Haru

SO! mostly just Pullips, BJDs, and soon to be my lone DD

with the random sailor moon doll and madame alexander thrown in for good measure

Yes, I'm doing this in a separate post. I wanted mine to be a bit further down the list, because I had planned to name every single mold (just cause I remember them all), and I didn't want to start the thread with a long list...(though I've seen worse)

Honestly, I've never really been a serious doll collector till I finally gave into the resin BJD hobby back in 2007. (First doll was DM Uri Rich) I had been eyeing them for more than two years and then took the plunge. It's due to them that now I do have interest in other dolls, and why I now not only have DD, but a VMF50 and a Azone (I want more! D: ). I'm planning on quite a few different dolls now actually...

As for reasons for selling dolls, well, I am fickle. I have so many bonding issues (mostly that I just don't bond or the bond doesn't last). I've constantly had issues with this and that's why my doll family never seems to reach above 10. I have only instantly bonded with three dolls, and I currently still own them (Volks SD17 F38, DD Saber Lily, & DD Saber Alter) I also have sold because I simply lost interest entirely. I liked them, I bought them, and then realized I didn't want them as much as I thought. I'm distracted by "shiney," I guess? Either way, usually that is the reason.

There is a issue that has occurred because of my fickle nature though, and that is that I actually want some of the dolls back...Just a few on this list I'd do anything to buy back. The unfortunate mistakes that occur from a lost bond and a quick to sell individual

Now for the list of sold dolls.... (Is it sad that I remember all of their names?!)

I'm not sure what got me 'into' dolls- I never liked or had them when I was little.

The majority of my current collection are Blythe dolls- I have 8 full girls plus bait. The appeal for me was the ability to completely customise them.

Then I have 3 Monster High dolls- 2 of them are customised too- I like being creative!

I have a cute little Madoka Azone doll with a Kyubey pal ; )

Then of course, I have my beautiful DD's. Less customisable ( is that even a word?!) but much more character and personality than any other doll I've collected.

I don't know how much bigger my collection will get but I love all the girls that are currently living with me

I have a few different kinds of dolls:

2 Pullips (Lunatic Queen & Melissa, aka Lady Blackhawk)

Several Monster High girls (2 Frankies, 1 Ghoulia, 1 Lagoona, 1 Clawdeen, 1 Abbey, 1 Spectra)

Several Pureneemos (Kirino, Kuroneko, Madoka, Homura, Ika Musume, Marisa)

One 1/3 Azone girl (Black Raven Lilia)

A Piposdoll Charlotte (the limited one with blue roses on her face, I forget the exact name)

And of course my DD family!

The DDs definitely get the most attention (Lilia I include with them since she's the same scale), followed by Charlotte who gets doted on a lot. I absolutely adore her, and while she's my only resin girl she's prob my second favorite doll (Mari being #1). I would probably have a lot more resin dolls if I could afford them, especially anthros. I also love my MH girls, they're so much fun to dress up and pose! Plus they remind me of Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School, which I must have watched a hundred times when I was young.

The Pullips I don't play with much since they're so hard to pose correctly, but I do have them on my nightstand so I see them every day. It's really the Pureneemos that are neglected, I can never quite figure out what to do with them. They're cute, but honestly most are still in their boxes. I don't think I would ever sell them though, I have a very hard time parting with figures. Of my 2,000+ PVC/resin/vinyl figures, I've only ever sold one (not including dupes from blind boxed sets).

DD Family: Mari, Saber Lily, Marisa, Soniko, Noumi, Kirino, Kuroneko, Sakura (DD Sakuno), Aerie, Akira, Kiki, Koko, Rose (DDS Mariko), Kureha, Ryoko, Lucy, Haruka, Rise, Extra & Alter!

I've only owned Dollfie Dreams as far as actual dolls go. That's deliberately leaving out action figures or static PVC figures which are similar to but usually not considered dolls.

Have both acquired and sold several DDs since I got more into the hobby at the end of last year. My Rin was everything for over two years, so it was easy to be happy with just her... But since deciding to expand my family a little during 2012, I have had to use the adopt-and-try approach for a variety of things to see how I liked them in person and find my way in the hobby.

Some DD girls that I had but sold/ am selling: Rina Ogata, Mariko-sensei, Saber Lily, Neris.

Through trying a variety of body types, price points, face styles, etc I've been able to zero in pretty well on what I like in the doll hobby. One facet of that is formal Japanese wear (kimono, miko, etc), so when I adopted Reimu from poor cgivisionary last month I was pretty sure I was going to really like her. I was right. So, trial-and-error proves itself again to be a useful learning tool.

Anything that I do sell though I always try and rehome it in a better condition than I got it in if I can, restoring with care for the next owner. Even if I don't end up keeping a DD, she still gets lots of TLC for the time that she's here.

Past dolls i had were,

Doll-chateau Bella

Volks seirei Yugiri

IOS Anos

MNF Ryeon

Pukipuki Pipi

Kazekids Poppy

Kawainino Momo

Ladysaiyuki Ted

Leekworld Honey

Bobobie Pixie

Dollzone Mo

DiL Rydel

Mostly a reason i sell a doll is that my tastes change alot.

I think i like a doll, then i get it home... and yeah, not so much.

Othertimes, ive had to sell dolls in order to get a new one thats come out i liked.

I have a feeling my family is growing too fast right now,

and im in a pretty big money pinch so i might also have to sell some for money reasons as well
