BlueShuShu Posted July 5, 2012 Was unsure where this should go, but I hope this is the right place. Just have a few questions about using Mandarake. 1a.How much do they charge in postage to the UK(Europe)? 1b.Is postage cost based on weight of item? 2.Is their packaging of items when shipped good? Have you had any bad experiences with items not being packaged well and breaking or getting damaged? 3.How long is the average delivery time from them? 4.Do they provide insurance & tracking on goods? Thankyou in advance!

Leadcrow Posted July 5, 2012 1. They have a shipping rate chart here: http://www.mandarake.co.jp/en/information/ship.html I checked the last dollfie I got from them and it was shipped at the 2500g rate. 2.Packed extremely well. 3. 4. Check the last paragraph(below the chart) on the above link for their policy on insurance. You have to make a request to have it insured for the full amount but its at no extra charge. Its possible this will affect any taxes you may have to pay since they have to declare it for the full amount but I can't really speak to this since I live in the USA

Poofiemus Posted July 5, 2012 (edited) My Nanoha was about $45 USD to ship with DHL, though she was fullset with her entire arsenal of weaponry so her package probably weighs a bit more than most DDs. As I recall, DHL is slightly less expensive than EMS. Delivery time was about four days: ordered her middle of the night Japan time, so they didn't ship until late Monday my time, and she arrived Thursday. Then again, US DHL coverage is kind of spotty, so she slowed down after she passed through US customs. Leadcrow is right to warn you to set aside some extra cash for UK customs--while I haven't had to pay them myself, from what I know from other members of this site and DoA UK customs can be pretty brutal. Hopefully one of them can pop in here for an actual estimate. Edit: Zomg derp moment. I did her main box opening Friday, but actually got her on a Thursday. XD I confused myself! (Can you blame me though? That Friday's date was much more memorable, as it was 11-11-11. XD) Edited July 5, 2012 by Guest In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser. bethykins Posted July 5, 2012 I live in the UK so I know a fair bit 1a.How much do they charge in postage to the UK(Europe)? Shipping is based on the items weight for a dollfie to be sent via DHL (4-5 days) to the UK is about 4,000jpy 1b.Is postage cost based on weight of item? Yes. 2.Is their packaging of items when shipped good? Have you had any bad experiences with items not being packaged well and breaking or getting damaged? They're packaging is great, really sturdy. I have ordered 50+ items from them over the last two years 3.How long is the average delivery time from them? SAL - 2-3 weeks DHL - 3-5 days EMS - 3 days roughly 4.Do they provide insurance & tracking on goods? Tracking on everything. Insurance only if you ask for it. They undeclared all packages unless you ask them not to. If you have insurance you have customs. I have a gorgeous family of DD girls See my profile for a list of my beauties!! I was wondering if you choose to have your order shipped with DHL, is the package still undeclared? Or is it better to have the package shipped using EMS, as to avoid customs putting a dent in my wallet? I don't feel like wasting 200+ Euros on customs that could be spent on fancy things for my doll.
bethykins Posted September 4, 2012 Haha thats okay when you order from mandarake they will automatically declare the pavkage to a value of about 5-7000 jpy. With this you should still get a £20-30 customs fee. However less DHL packages are checked then EMS so if you choose DHL which takes an extra 3-4 days you have a better chance of not having to pay anything at all I have a gorgeous family of DD girls See my profile for a list of my beauties!! cubester Posted September 4, 2012 I see, that's good to hear. 30 pounds is absolutely a lot more acceptable than what they'd usually charge for a limited edition full set. And time isn't really an issue, I've been holding off on buying a DD for the past 2 years, so those extra 4 days DHL takes probably won't hurt me. :3 Thank you very much for your fast reply.
