Back after a long hiatus - and needing inspiration!

I wasn't sure where to put this so I decided to stick it in the off topic section - hope that's okay! I used to be fairly active on the forums here and enjoyed making pretty things for DD girls, and even celebrated the beginning of the year with my first Dynamite.

 

But sadly I lost my desire to pursue the DD hobby or make anything new after lots of sad personal events happened at the beginning of the year, including the passing of my grandmother, who raised me from birth as her own daughter.

 

After all these months, I finally picked up and dusted off the dress pieces I'd been preparing to sew when the sad news arrived, and started stitching things together to finish the outfits that had been meant to be Valentine's Day dresses. I also washed up my very dusty girls, fixed their eyes (which had become derpy from sitting so long), and got them all prettied up.

 

What do you guys do for inspiration to get back that enthusiasm for the doll hobby? I still want to show off the newest head I won from the Volks lottery, the finished DD06 head, plus I need inspiration to start patterning out clothes for Dynamite girls!

I start loading up all sorts of doll pictures sites. More often Japanese sites, 'cause boy do they have some magical custom girls or outfits or full characters

Welcome back! I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother, and a loss of inspiration is certainly understandable given the cirbleepstances. But it's good to hear that you're finding joy in the hobby again!

 

For me inspiration for sewing projects comes in weird places. I have recently started a Word dobleepent full of pictures of DD outfits that I like, mostly from YJA. Other times inspiration has come from just digging through the scraps bin at the fabric store, and seeing what pieces make me go, "Ooh!" instead of "Oh good lord, what on earth is that?" XD And in Agatha's case, some inspiration comes from outfits she wears in the comic she's based on. Which reminds me, I *so* need to get off my butt and make her brown outfit from the circus story arc; I've had the fabric for months and just haven't gotten around to it. . .

For inspiration I usually go to sites like Doll.fm, the DD Flickr group, or I go to YJA and look at all the pretty custom heads and clothing.
