I adopted a vmf Nao from Billy, I've seen what she looks like with different busts and she's becoming a project doll for me :3 I really want a G bust on her. So I might try hunting down a Momoka. . . and I swore I'd never go for one of the O face dolls but wow, I really like her face and those lips! x3

I just hope they match xD

HEEEERRRRR. I saw that post and was contemplating if I should get her but I would have been in the same boob dilemma. What a steal, hope you love her!! She's cute As for Momoka, I'm not even going to hesitate with that one. I sold my #11 Sayaka just to get her lol.

Hi~ I'm new here, and I got Misa last summer, She is my first doll.

Before I got Misa, I do some survey, and I find HERE! with so many useful infomation, Thank you guys~

This morning, while I was net surfing, suddenly I saw a chart that list every VMF, AP, DP product on the "REAL ART PROJECT" web site, I think this is the FIRST time, the maker of VMF, AP, DP series who make a chart about very body part & measurment. this article was published at March 22nd, 2015.

But somehow my account dont have the permission to post links.

Just google "realartproject ドールパーツ表", click the FIRST result.

I wanna share some pictures I took for my Misa, but......it seems like I can't use [img] yet

English is not my first language, sorry about my limited vocabulary, hope you guys can understand.

Welcomeeee

Misa is nice, I love her bust...rare find, I think. I joined this Dollfie Dream forum just for the VMF50 thread. I never saw that article, I'll have to go see myself. You need to post at least 20 times before you are allowed to post links, pictures, etc. Do you have a flickr? There's a VMF50 group there! But look around here on the forum and comment on things you like, it'll help bring it up

I would be everyone's "friend in japan" if i spoke more japanese and could figure out how to get into one of those Private Room events

Some of those specialty parts and accessories are to die for.

I KNOW!

Evey once in a while a picture from one of the events will appear on Tommy's Blog and there will be rows of dolls and parts and clothes! All at the low, low retail price (not inflated auction prices).

I could cry!

There's a G Type up on YJA right now but it looks like it's white skin.

Judging by what they said on their blog, you have until May 17th before her pre-order is taken down. Though you'll see her again on Y! Japan...for a larger price.

Hello~ I'm new to this forum. I joined because I just got my first VMF50. She's a Chica I bought from YJA. Her leg randomly fell off yesterday. I tried to tighten the screw in the thigh, but it just won't stay on.

The tube part that attaches it seems to be opening up even though the screw is very tight.

I have no experience with dolls with a skeleton at all, so I don't know what to do!

The tube part that attaches it seems to be opening up even though the screw is very tight.

I have no experience with dolls with a skeleton at all, so I don't know what to do!

This is a common problem with the 48/50cm body. The first thing to do is a little inspection and then some maintenance/adjustment.

Here's a look at the two parts at the leg/hip joint without the abdomen vinyl. You can see there is a circular groove around the peg of the waist part. The tube of the hip part needs to fit cleanly and completely into this groove in order for the joint to be made firm.

HipJoint03.jpg

Frequently the abdomen vinyl is trimmed very tightly around the opening.

HipJoint02.jpg

With the vinyl so close it is common to pull the edge of the vinyl in between the two parts as you push the two parts together. When this happens, the two parts do not mate completely and if a big enough piece of vinyl is pulled into the joint, the additional pressure can crack the outside ring of the waist part and/or the tube wall of the hip joint. The joint may seem firm at first but after a move or two the vinyl crushes and/or the hip joint part cracks and the unlocked leg becomes "swingy".

A preventative measure for this is to take a sharp xacto knife and trim the vinyl of the abdomen around this hole. The hole can be easily enlarged and is hidden by the leg parts so you don't have to worry about making the cut cosmetically perfect.

You mentioned your Misa was used and this leg drop happened very soon after her arrival. It is a safe assumption that this condition existed when the previous owner had her. Depending on how much usage she received the waist part of the skeleton may be damaged and in need of replacement.

Inspect the waist part for cracks or missing pieces. Don't tighten the screw in the waist part any more.

If the hip/abdomen part appears to be in good condition, do the check outlined above to make sure the joint is clear of the vinyl of the abdomen. Next re-seat the leg into the waist part, pressing firmly from both sides, usually palms against the outside of the top of each leg.

If the leg continues to drop or becomes loose quickly, replacement of the hip/abdomen part may be necessary. Fortunately parts are available and relatively inexpensive. The part you'll be looking to replace is the 50RP-F01WP-27 found on this page.

http://www.parabox.jp/eng_new/50_parts.html

The retailer is Parabox. The part is less than $10 USD, but shipping will be a bit more so look things over on their site and see if you want anything else like hands, neck pieces for additional heads, etc. I like to have a set of 50RP-F01WP-25 wrist joints for each set of option hands as pulling the wrist joint (with the hand attached) is much easier than installing new hands on the wrist joint.

Anyway, I hope this helps and if you have any more questions just ask.

She's the tan one, a Chica. Obitsu doesn't make any tan parts, do they?

I decided to be brave and remove her other leg, because her waist joint didn't look like your image (Luckily that one went back on just fine). There appears to be a piece missing on her waist joint. The problem is that it seems to be lodged deep in the hip joint. Is there a way to open the hip joint to remove it?

I'm going to buy a new waist joint, since it appears that the hole where a metal peg was is completely worn down. The vinyl is also in the way so I will trim it down.

I'm definitely getting some hands on experience with these dolls right off the bat...

Yamato offered tan internal parts for sale years ago. There weren't many pieces available, they sold out quickly, and have never been restocked. So yes Obitsu made tan parts but their availability is now limited to the secondary market and they are very, very rare. I'm pretty sure the tan skin/skeleton color, which is a bit darker than Obitsu's "fleshtone" is proprietary to Yamato/Angel Philia. I don't expect to see those parts available unless requested by AP.

Fortunately the parts you're working with are mostly internal and don't normally show so using a white skin (a.k.a. whitey) replacement part won't matter much.

Great idea! You can learn a lot of useful information by seeing how these girls are put together. If you don't know already, the hair dryer will be your best friend. Many of the vinyl to "bone" connections are extremely tight and heating the vinyl with a hair dryer till it becomes soft and pliable is the only way to get some of these connections apart or back together.

I haven't made enough posts to post links yet. Please excuse the format I'm using. The partial links I posted are Flickr links, so paste it onto the end of the homepage url.

I couldn't get a good photo of the inside of the leg, but in the other thigh, the opening is clear. In this leg, you can somewhat see the metal rod that should fit into the waist joint. I didn't get a picture of the inside of the waist joint. My 35mm refuses to get close enough to focus on it. It's an pretty much an empty opening, with a small drilled hole inside of a rectangle.

My hair dryer has been getting plenty of use since I replaced her eyes right out of the box (never again!) and then changed her hand. Since these dolls are soft vinyl, I hadn't imagined they would be so hard! I thought the vinyl would be squishy, but it is very tough. I worry if it's possible to warp or deform the vinyl after repeated heatings though. I hope someday AP/RAP releases hand pegs, because she has so many cute hands. I don't really want to remove and put them on again...

I've been researching Dollfie Dreams --since I assume they are the closest, most popular relative-- to get an idea of how to take care of VMF50. However, it seems I have an odd questions and can't find info on it: since they have an internal skeleton is water extremely bad for them?

Yeah, you need 20 posts to be able to do links and pictures. It won't be long.

Okay, I think I can see what's what.

It looks like the screw and the end of the "peg" from the waist part is lodged in the tube of the hip joint. See if you can reach in there with a pair of needle nose pliers or tweezers and pull that thing out. I'm currently away from my doll stuff so I can give you instructions on loosening/disassembling the hip joint. But if you can pull that thing out without disassembling the hip joint you'll be much happier. Getting the hip joint out of the thigh vinyl can be an ordeal in itself.

I would guess that the screw may have been over tightened, stripping the plastic in the base of the peg. With that small tip of the peg "locked in" to the hip joint, pulling the leg off caused the damaged plastic threading in the peg to shear off.

You can try a repair but it will never be as good as an undamaged part.

Once you remove the end of the peg and the screw from the hip joint, inspect the plastic part that's on the screw for damage. To tell the truth I've never taken that screw out so I can't tell you if that small end piece is a separate piece from the rest of the peg or not. In any case, if it's not too mangled, leave the screw in place and see if you can "hand fit" the screw in the peg end by just gently pushing it back in place. You might need to twist it a little but at this point try to avoid using a screwdriver. If it goes back in, check to see if it is going in the right distance by visually comparing it to the peg on the other side. If it looks pretty close you can continue. If not, carefully remove the screw and tip and see if there is any broken plastic debris inside the end of the peg. Carefully poke around with a toothpick if necessary to loosen any small pieces. Refit the screw and tip. Hopefully it will fit. If it still seems to be sticking out too far, go ahead and get a bit more aggressive with the toothpick. At this point it's not like you can break it any more.

Okay, once you've got a satisfactory fit, remove the screw and tip one last time. Into the hole slowly squirt drops of super glue, the thicker gap-filling kind. I like the Gorilla Glue brand because the stuff is supposed to be more shock resistant than many other brands and their bottle has the best non-dry, non-clog tip I've seen. Fill the hole a bit short of the top. Now reinsert the screw and tip. The excess glue is going to squirt out so try not to get any on you or your doll. Have a paper towel or tissue handy to wipe away the excess. Let the thing dry thoroughly. It could take a few hours as the glue will be applied kind of thickly and unexposed to air. You may need to clamp the thing while the glue sets. A spring clamp going across the waist joint from one peg to the other would work best. You can also try wrapping it with masking tape. Just make sure it is tight and the screw and tip stay in place.

Once the glue dries, inspect the part for large dried glue drips/spills. If they are thick you can go at those with some sand paper or a nail file. If they are not thick, appearing as just a flat glue stain, leave them alone. Finally, carefully assemble the waist to hip joint as normal.

Or if this sounds like all too much trouble, you can just buy a new waist joint. If you go the new part route you will still have to remove the screw and tip from the hip joint.

BY THE WAY GANG...

I just cruised by the Angel Philia site and they have TAN (a.k.a. brown) skeleton parts available for sale now. They are selling just the tan parts that show between the vinyls (shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, ankles, etc.). For internals like hips, spines, chests, etc. they direct you to the Obitsu store and the regular white parts.

Who ever bought Billy's VMF50 with the missing elbow cap, it's time to get that replacement!

Hurry, hurry, hurry! These don't usually last long!

Since these dolls are soft vinyl, I hadn't imagined they would be so hard! I thought the vinyl would be squishy, but it is very tough.

It's my understanding they use several different formulations, softer vinyl for busts, abdomens, and heads, a harder vinyl for limbs, hands, and feet.

I worry if it's possible to warp or deform the vinyl after repeated heatings though.

I doubt you would be able to heat the vinyl hot enough to cause permanent deformations unless you inadvertently touch the heating coils to the vinyl and it just plain melts.

As a side note to this issue, I had one of my girls curled up on my desk for several months.

MiyukiSitting02.jpg

The posed caused the vinyl to pick up a large indentation across her abdomen, just below the widening of the hips. The indentation could be pushed out but would sink right back in. A few minutes with the hair drier and the abdomen returned to its original shape.

I hope someday AP/RAP releases hand pegs, because she has so many cute hands. I don't really want to remove and put them on again...

They are available NOW! See my post above.

I've been researching Dollfie Dreams --since I assume they are the closest, most popular relative-- to get an idea of how to take care of VMF50.

Mostly the normal care and feeding stuff for BJDs. The big difference is staining. All dolls will stain, resin, vinyl, whatever. However vinyl is much more porous that resin so it can stain much faster, in just minutes sometimes depending on the fabric/item. Also many wig caps are heavily dyed and will stain the doll's head. Many people use silicone wig caps as a barrier to slow the process. Personally I don't worry about it as I don't plan on having any bald girls.

However, it seems I have an odd questions and can't find info on it: since they have an internal skeleton is water extremely bad for them?

The short answer is no, water's not much of a problem. The plastics are waterproof and most of the metal hardware (screws and such) are plated so rust isn't a big issue. The only water related issue can be mold. Mold can grow in vinyl given the right conditions, those being heat and moisture. The vinyl provides the food. If your doll goes to the pool or beach or takes a bath, just make sure she dries out completely, inside and out. The fairy princess of the Dollieh Sanctuary forum, Hazel (60cm Obitsu) has frequently been up to her chin in water. She's 9 years old and shows no ill effects from her flirtations with the wet stuff.

I removed the piece successfully, and her new waist joint arrived in the mail today. As soon as i get home ill start seeing what's going on in there.

Edit:

She's complete now!

I got your message late K-2, I don't know how to reply there. I seem to have done it the difficult way, but everything is in one piece, so I assume I'm fine. Both legs appear to be okay and nothing has fallen off yet. I'm still being extra gentle and cautious. I'm glad I can play with her as normal. She has a stand now, so she's been standing for a while.

I'm glad to hear everything went back together. You can still learn a lot by taking the "long route". A little caution is never a bad thing, especially while you're still learning where and how those joints bend and twist.

Congrats again! We look forward to seeing your girl soon!

Still trying to get those 20 posts, but I made a body stocking for my doll today. It turned out really well in spite those curvy thighs of hers. I'm just have trouble with her nipples pocking though everything. The C5 bust is very oddly placed with very pointy nipples. I knew they would be pointy, but I wasn't prepared for to be this much. It's giving her an odd silhouette in fitted-ish clothing. I'm attempting to make a padded bra next...

I've given up on her wearing pants.

The Type J head (Eri) has appeared on several bodies. Eri (Yamato OCIG #8 Eri, Type J head on Type E body, white skin) was originally released in September 2011 for 38000 yen. Like a lot of the original Yamato VMF50s her appearance on the market today is spotty. I saw one on YJA about a year ago and haven't seen one since. With the older VMF/Dollcore versions it's hard to predict market availability. You may not see another Eri for years, but then again there may be 6 on the market in the next month. If you really like her and can afford her (and the asking price isn't too astronomical), jump on her.

Do we have a database for the girls?

I think there is a listing in the first post of this topic, but it may need some updating. I know mine does.

I have a more up to date version prepared but it's waiting for my programer to update my site.
