I have a question. Are the VMF50 D body's hips/thighs significantly different from the base 50cm Obitsu body? I would like to have clothes ready for a new doll in advance, but I'm not sure if modelling pants on the D body I have will make for a poor fit on the standard body.

Yes, they are significantly larger in diameter and those amounts depend on which type (Type C, Type G, Type H, etc) they are. Some items made of stretchy fabrics will fit the stock hips/thighs and these larger parts.

Thanks. The wings were purloined from an old PVC anime figure I've had lying around for years. I just bolted 'em to a makeshift harness that slips into the back of the girl's clothing. If you're looking for something similar, keep an eye out for cheap used PVC figures on the auction sites.

Which girl are you trying to put the Type G thighs on, is she a 48cm?

The Type G thighs were designed for the 50cm girls so if you have a 48cm your "femurs" will be about 1cm shorter than those of the 50cm. You can try not inserting the femurs completely in the hip and knee sockets, which can be tricky. You might have to resort to buying the necessary 50cm parts or borrowing them from another Obitsu 50cm if you have one.

If you need to purchase it, the part you're looking for is the 50RP-F01WP-30, which comes as an assembly of two femurs, two knee joints, and two shin bones. Parabox sells the white skin version for 2780yen.

If your girl has tan skin you might want to get these parts from the AP site, since the knee joints are visible. If you wish you can use just the femurs of the white skin version since the femurs aren't visible. AP currently lists the tan version as "limited stock" for 2900yen. You will need a proxy if purchasing from AP, but not if buying from Parabox.

Shipping from either place will probably seem excessive so you might want to make the most of it and pick up a few other spare parts, a neck piece for that extra head, or wrist joints for those option hands, etc.

Yikes! I appreciate a nice set o' sweater-puppies as much as the next guy, but IMO, these things have crossed the line into grotesquerie. Too bad, because I rather like her faceup, and I've been slow to warm up to the type-O head sculpt. YMMV, of course.

I have already predetermined I'll be getting her the minute I saw her on RAP's blog. I really, and I mean really hate the C-4 bust, so when they finally ventured into the normal...esque look I was hyped up. She's cute, too, too tempting for me

So I was over at the RAP online store and they have a version of Maiko (PD#33) without the wig for 2800yen less than the one with.

 

While there I noticed they also have three different Pink Drop girls (Sayaka, Momoka, and Romina) up for sale, all three are being sold without their head. This begs the question, "What other vinyl heads are buyers going to use on these bodies?" There aren't a lot of vinyl heads available without buying a body. Of the vinyl heads available without a body Volks anime heads look a bit large on the 48/50cm bodies. There are a couple of Obitsu heads that would work. Most of the current Parabox offerings look a bit too childlike for these ample bodies.

Is RAP/AP going to start offering heads for sale?

All this big breast talk motivated me to get some paint on the C4 Girls.

The seaming hides better on the Up C4 as there were no large gaps to fill. While the Down C4 had a large gap on the top, about 6mm wide and 4-5cm long. The flexible material I used to fill the gap did not take well to sanding and smoothing while wet was difficult. The pastels used for blushing exaggerated every flaw. (Excuses, excuses.) Under the right clothing the point would be moot. I haven't seen measurements on the new H3 bust but these girls will give them a run for their money.

Thanks! They are still a work in progress. I had to put paint on them to really be able to see the rough spots. Also the paint is cracking but not from flexing. This is usually a symptom of a material underneath the paint that isn't completely dry or is incompatible with the paint. The paint is on MSC, which I've done numerous times before. I let the material cure for about 3 months and it was labeled as "paintable". It's possible the MSC and the filler aren't happy with one another. I'm not sure so more RnD I guess.

 

Also...about the bodies, they just started doing this some time ago, and since they keep offering just the bodies, I dunno how likely they'll start selling heads...and if they do, it'll be a clickwar.

I know they have offered bodies before but they seem to have been sold just like the completed girls and they were few and far between. Now, three at once? One of the things that prompted my post was that this last batch of spare parts that went up on the AP and RAP sites (back in December-ish?) have been up for quite a while. Past restocks of spares where few and far between and never lasted, being sold out in a couple of weeks. Did they just order a ton of parts this time? Or did the demand just go down? Or are they restocking more frequently. Or...?

Granted this is from observations occurring since the Yamato days. Could heads follow in a couple of years.

K-2 I love what you've done with those crazy busts! If you can get the right materials together so it doesn't crack, those custom busts would be perfect! I hope you get something figured out for them.
