Hello! New here. What's the chance of heads being rereleased? I really like Emma/Emmy/Misa (Type J) but theyre sold out.

Also clothing wise, I heard the bottoms are SD and tops are MSD. But if I want bust G what type of clothes am I looking for? 

Is there a color difference between soft skin & normal?  Thanks!

Re-releases? 5 years ago I'd have said don't hold your breath. But now I say don't hold your breath as restocks could take a few months. AP is now more inclined to restocking but they still have to fit their desires into the Obitsu production schedule. If you need it now, check yahoo Japan Auctions frequently.

For clothing you want stretchy. The "bigger" AP girls approach DDs in the bust and hip area but are smaller at the waist and way shorter overall. Unless it's made for APs, fitted garments are right out, unless you're comfortable with doing alterations. APs are an odd size and some experimentation to determine what fits is necessary.

Generally there is no color difference between SoftSkin parts and regular parts, although there can be some minor variances in color from one vinyl batch to another. This is normal.

Okay I wasn't aware of how they work. Can I buy from Yahoo Japans directly? Or do I need to go through Buyee? I'll def check there and Mandarake often. 

Got it, I do have minifee clothing so I'll see how that stuff will fit first. Then venture into bigger clothing sizes

For Yahoo you need a proxy, like Buyee for example. Prices are insane anyway on YJA.

Testament is right. Prices can be insane on YJA, but with the advent of more frequent parts releases prices on YJA have come down. I scored a Type J head 6 months ago for only 1000yen over retail. A couple of years ago I would have expected to pay almost double retail.

So it can be simply a matter of how much you want it, fast or cheap. A buying strategy I used early on was to set what I thought was a reasonable price in my mind and not buy anything over that price.

Keep an eye on the AP site too. If the part you're looking for becomes available again, buying at the source can't be beat. Again, you'll need a proxy to buy directly from AP.

OTOH, I've seen some downright distracting differences in body blushing. Earlier parts tend to lay it on pretty heavily, particularly the whities, while some later releases hardly have any at all. Something to keep in mind if you're looking to update an older doll with newly made parts.

I found a Type J, but it has artist faceup.. I'd feel horrible wiping it 😕 And I think it's pretty expensive but not sure of Type J's current value. I just remembered I bought from Yahoo Auctions through Japamart years ago (buying anime figures). It was pretty simple and easy! 
Whats the AP site? I only know of FaithZ. And how would I find a proxy to buy from them?

I agree. I have a pair of C3 bust, one soft one regular. The soft one has pratically only the nipples colores, the "hard" one is fully blushed.

Their shopping procedure is that you enter the page address of an item you want to buy on their shopping form. If the store is not on their list of sites they buy from, they will inform you in about 24 hours whether or not they will purchase from that site. If they do they will quote you a price. They use PayPal for payments. I'm not familiar with how exactly other sites may handle purchases.

I'm so confused.. I bought it on Amazon Japan through Buyee. Was about to buy a body for her. But my order was cancelled on Buyee cause it wasn't available. But yet still shows available on Amazon Japan 😕

Okay I think the reason Buyee cancelled was cause I clicked "new goods" but the only available is 'used very good condition'. This time I chose Used. Hoping it goes through

Japamart still has my money and it suspended my account due to different paypal info. (only thing different is first name and they wont let me change that on japamart). The purchase isn't showing up in my account at all(shopping purchase, cart, payment history) and it's like it doesnt exist yet they took the money from my paypal. I have no idea what to do. I messaged them but if they don't get back I'll have to open a pp case?

Generally heads don't come with neck pieces, the bodies do. Neck connectors (and other parts) can be purchased from Parabox or Obitsu. These will be in the white skin only. If you have a tan skin doll the neck piece is completely covered so the color really doesn't matter. But if you must have a tan neck piece, you will have to buy it from AP. Proxy required for international sale from AP and Obitsu.

In my neverending search for spare skeleton parts / body parts (I have almost an entire extra body, minus 2 arms), I found on Mandarake what they've labeled "Obitsu50 50-02 head"

No box, only this body+head at only 12.000 yen (!), so instead of waiting for 2 arms to pop up, I went all in and bought her without ever thinking (she has a beautiful faceup too, but I don't know if it's stock or custom).

 

She arrived at home, safe and sound, surprisingly almost perfect, no crack shoulder, no stains, so I'm very happy for this purchase ^^ (now Marie has someone to play with).

 

Her bust and her hips are semi-soft, not soft like the soft skin pieces that are now a standard, but not hard as the hard parts. They're lightly blushed too, not blank.

(I still can't undestand if she's whitey or... normal?) One thing for sure, her hands are lighter color than the rest of the body (blank hands).

 

Obviously she's 50 cm tall, not 48, so if I want to use AP legs, some adaptation in the skeleton must be made, but for the moment I'm happy the way she is, I liker her proportions.

 

Now I have some questions. Is she really an Obitsu? Obitsu came out with painted nipples?

She looks like a straight up Type D, the second VMF50 body type initially released by Yamato Toy Company, circa December 2009. Her name was Risa.

 

The Risa sculpt had several releases including a tan version (Yumi).

 

She could be a possible later version as she looks to have the "newer" version ankle joints. That does look like a stock Risa face up. The body blushing was overall a lot lighter back then with the pronounced nipple color. As with all the VMF50 girls she was manufactured by Obitsu exclusively for Yamato.

The 50-02 is just a mislabel. If you look at the 50-02 head you will see the eyes are rounder with the less pronounced "corners" of the Risa.

Oh wow, so I bought a Risa without even knowing. And that's why the 16mm eyes I gave her fit so well when 50-02 needs 18mm.

But Risa's photos I've seen online have painted eyes,

later versions of her have the eyes holes? Mine has softer eyelashes and eyebrowns too. Risa evolution XD

The original Risa (OCIG #2) did have amber painted eyes. Yumi (OCIG #4) had blue painted eyes. I think the first open eye version of the Risa sculpt was Nao (OCIG #6) in tan skin. The first white skin version with open eyes was...ah...umm...

Mmmmmmh... Nao is pratically twin sister with Ami, but I have an Ami head and... it's different from the "Risa" we're talking about. She has actual eyelashes and a different faceup.

Well, I am not a long term expert but I spend a lot of time creating a table of what was produced so far.

According to that, RISA has a head type D and is the ONLY doll ever to have it but was available in both whitey and tan versions.

YUMI has a head type E and is also the only doll to have that one and also the only to have skin type "Y", neither whitey nor tan, but a pearlescent/shimmering version of tan.

Those where the last two "normal" dolls with painted on eyes, head type F is Super Sonico( also painted eyes).

After that, head type G appeared and those were the first to feature 16mm eye holes, the names were Ami( whitey, F type body) and Nao( tan, E type body).

Though the Nao body is specified as tan again and not skin "Y" I have seen pictures where it looks alike to the "Y" of the similar E type body of Yumi, not sure if that was due to mixups or maybe some leftover Yumi bodies for early ones or some such.

Obitsu 50-02 was never used, but 50-01 and 50-04 were, so you may have to compare to 50-02 photos and if it is a match it is a hybrid.

Still, in any case a very nice buy for sure, congratulations.

Edit2, to add an answer for @Testament's Lena question from Aug,13:

The closest whitey version of Lena( Head type M, many dolls have that) should be "Sayo, soft skin version", only differs on eye color, feet type and having soft upper arms.

I've spent part of the last days searching and comparing photos (from this topic, from japan blogger, from the internet)...

 

The body is without doubt a D-Type. Whitey.

 

The only VMF50 with this body type is Risa, but mine is definitely not a Risa head (sigh, I'm used to the name now). No painted eyes, different faceup (more soft, with gradients), but same mouth, circa.

I have Ami head but she has wider eye, different faceup and real eyelashes, so...

 

50-02, linked by K-2, has rounder eyes shape, so no 50-02.

 

Maybe she's really a custom head on a Risa body, I'll never know...

Yamato did not refer to head types by letter till the release of Original Concept Image Girl #5 AMI, who has a Type G head on the Type F body. Up till that point the heads were referred to as "Yamato Original" or by their Obitsu model number.

The tan skin used on both Original Concept Image Girl #1 MIU Tan and Original Concept Image Girl #2 RISA Tan is the same color as other tan skin dolls. The different appearance is due to a special "Shadow coat and Pearl paint body was added to the bronzed skin for a distinctive shine".

My VMF50 listing was compiled from Yamato's release information as the dolls were released. I stopped updating this list in early 2013 when Yamato closed shop. I did omit several "blank body" releases.

Indeed I've compared her with your photo list on Dollie Sanctuary (you're a real bible) and other blogs. Yesterday I even visited Obistu and Azone store to see what heads type they use for their complete dolls or blank heads only. Nothing. Well... that's ok.

Anyway... the head cover has "YAMATO" carved into the vinyl, so... Yamato has to be.

Maybe some decent photos will help. I've made a few some days ago. Enjoy my "new" Anna (or Rikasa... 'cause I started naming her Risa, but for now her real identity it's a mistery, so I added the interrogative particle "ka" to the name):
