Got my first AP girl in! I bought an Ellie here from the marketplace, she's my first vinyl. Aaand, I immediately accidentally popped one of her lower leg parts out and can't get it back in (she's soft skin and came pre-stuffed and I think it's getting in the way). I'm super scared to break her internal skeleton, what's the best way to pop her lower leg back on?

ETA: GOT IT BACK IN! I wasn't angling the lower leg piece enough to catch the spot in the thigh for the lower leg peg. Crisis averted!

Good to hear that you got the leg back in. This is a bit of a known issue with APs. If this keeps happening, try pulling the thigh peg out a bit from the knee joint, so it can sit deeper in the hip joint instead. That should work as a long term fix.

Because my girls are on the far end of the size scale I'm learning how to just make my own stuff. The bigger the boobs the harder its is to find stuff to fit, let alone look nice.

I was afraid of that 😂. I was thinking that MAYBE smart doll shirts could work, since they have had some busty ladies before

So, I know that the recommendation is to always try to buy from Mandarake since they'll be cheaper than Faithz, but I was wondering if anyone has an idea of how frequently Mandarake gets APs in? Is it only right after their release? I'm wondering because I saw that Ako and Riko are still in stock on Faithz and I'm really tempted, but I don't know if it would be better to order them from Faithz now while they're available or hold out and hope that more come into Mandarake in the future 🤔

I seen APs quite frequently on Mandarake but its usually just bodies.
You really need to keep camping and check the Dolls section every time they load updates.

Buying them separate will run you into the different tone issue which happened to me buying various parts 2nd hand and some parts first hand from Faithz and Japan Tokyo Shop...

Well, I got both of my APs new from Mandarake earlier this year, and they had quite a large selection of unopened APs to choose from, as well as multiple stores carrying the same dolls as backup. I've noticed that when they have new APs, they tend to get them in small groups, like 3-5 different dolls at a time, with multiples of the same doll in different stores. Currently however, I'm only seeing a Serika, so maybe others she was stocked with already sold out? And since I'm only looking for the full dolls the skin tone differences won't be an issue.

I guess my question is more like, how often do they tend to re-release dolls with the same face/makeup/body/skintone? Both of the girls I have were the same as prior dolls they released before, just styled differently for their stock photos. So I'm trying to decide if it would be worthwhile to camp mandarake and wait for them to get one of these dolls again, or if it would be better to just fork over the money to Faithz while they still have them in stock since nothing's guaranteed. I know that theoretically a doll in the hand is worth two in the bush, but I will be kicking myself if I buy one and then see her available on Mandarake again for almost half the price due to the different currency conversion lol

Another thing I noticed is that Ako and some of the other dolls on Faithz cost more than the others, and Ako is specifically marked with limited quantity next to her name while the others aren't. I'm not sure if this just means that they're almost out of stock for her, or if it means she likely won't be released again 🤔

is ap undergoing some maintenance? there are no dolls (or bodies!) for sale on mandarake besides the new ako which seems super odd!

Idk what you mean, there's the Serika that's on there, but the Ako (and all others) are sold out 😅

Well, my 2 cents are... camp Mandarake doll section. Yesterday Kokorobi, Yuri and Kotone were available with extra body parts. Now sold out.

 

And go for the one you like, expecially faceup focused.

It's almost impossible to find the head you like with that specific faceup unless it's attached to a body.
When I started this hobby I was in love with Yuuna, but at the time it was an old soldout model, so I decided on Marie. It took me 5 years of continuous mandarake monitoring to finally find Yuuna's head, which in the meantime had come out with the same faceup on other dolls.It's almost impossible to get the head you want if not attached to a body. For me, I was in love with Yuuna, but she was an older soldout model, so I decided for Marie.

oops you're right it's the serika! i'm just surprised since the bodies have at least been constant.

i have been camping off and on in hopes of getting a type-s girl. luckily found a blank head on yahoo japan! i'm very excited but with no bodies on the market i'm a little nervous...

Oh you got my hopes up for a second there lol. I was scouring Mandarake like, "WHERE'S THE AKO I NEED TO FIND HER!!!"

Congrats on scoring the type-s head, I wish you luck in getting the body you want! I'm sure they just happened to sell out all the APs pretty quickly this time, they'll probably get more within a couple weeks.

Mandarake also often tends to get new AP once their preorder date (you can usually find it on FaithZ) has arrived, sometimes a bit later. On the realartproject store they had a preorder for a bunch a headless bodies (Type-C lower torso + thighs, and few options for busts) that was said to be ready by July, so you might be able to get one of these if they end up on Mandarake and/or didn't get any in the mean time. I can't say for sure ofc, but that could be an option too.

I...have bought a Pink Drops Monaka and  love her so far. However, when stuffing her I had trouble getting stuffing to her butt. Should I take the torso off to stuff that part, or is there a trick to make that happen?

Anyway, I will add a picture as soon as I'm on my computer. I can't figure out a good way to do that on my phone.

 

Yeah, you need to stuff from the bottom up which means taking the torso apart to stuff properly.

If this is your first time working with an Obitsu skeleton, you need to apply a twisting motion to separate the chest skeleton piece from the 3-part spine piece below. It otherwise will seem impossible to tease apart.

Thank you! I think I will wait until my extra parts arrive and do them all in one go. I had no trouble with her limbs and head, but taking the torso piece off seems a bit more daunting 😅

Please be very careful when you remove the arms. The cylinders that attach the pin are the part most likely to crack in the skeleton of all dolls derived from the obitsu50.

It's not a very serious damage, practically all the ones used have cracked shoulders, but it makes the arms less stable in poses. Luckily, spare parts are easy to find.

Side question, what causes specific legs to loosen? Both of my girls have a tendency to drop their left legs and I can't see any visible cracks but I'm guessing they are there somewhere..

You have to push them together making sure the vinyl from the torso doesn’t get in the way. They should audibly ‘click’ into place, after which they should they should be able to hold a pose like normal. I had trouble with this too when I took my Azone apart to replace with Angelphilia parts and a bit of vinyl from the torso was preventing the leg piece from fitting into place.

I’m having the hardest time finding my dream and first ever Angelphilia doll I’m specifically looking for a Type M in whitey with at least a small bust and I can’t find her anywhere. Is it even possible she’ll be on Faithz anytime soon or even Mandarake it’s all tan girls that are type m and I’m the type of person who will set on a specific doll that I want atm even though I do want a tan one day. I just hope I can find her soon because I do have money right now.

Unfortunately no one can say for sure unless they sell you a doll from their own collection. The combo you want is very specific (Type-M head + Whitey skin + small bust), but Angelphilia releases are sporadic and basically you get whatever combination of parts Tommy feels like putting together. From a cursory search, it sounds like Kaoru is the doll you want, but nobody knows if/when she’ll be re-released. It might be easier to get the head and body separately, and you may have to swap out the bust yourself to get the size you want.

Thanks so much I will definitely be okay with swapping must the main thing is I just want a type m in whitey skin that’s all she’s just sooo pretty and I already have so many tan dolls in my collection like mostly all my other dolls that aren’t vinyl. Another question I have is. Is it possible to get like a protective body suit that is almost skintone to protect my doll from stains since? I heard these dolls are prone to get stains very easily.

Yes, Parabox sells a bodysuit that fits 48cm dolls, so it should fit as long as she has a small bust. If you decide to change/keep her in a larger bust, you may have to buy a bodysuit for a 60cm doll to accommodate the bust size.

However, one of the main draws with Angelphilia dolls is the body blushing and curvy silhouette. A bodysuit will cover the blushing and curves (to some extent). If you don’t care about these things, the easiest way to get your dream doll would be to buy the Type-M head (either painted or blank) and put it on a standard Obitsu body.

User tmdu0410 on Yahoo Japan Auctions sells a lot of Angelphilia parts and did have a blank Type-M head in Whitey a couple of months ago. All the ones they have now are Tan, but if you keep an eye on their listings you might be able to find it in Whitey again at some point. Or keep an eye out for Kaoru, who has the Type-M head.
