So.. the auction I was monitoring for the Obitsu 48 body closed 12 hours early. Seeing these sold out listings makes my heart break over and over again.

This is a silly question, but do you have to curve the spine frame part to fit a lower torso like this one, for example? Will this interfere with the doll’s ability to pose?

I don't own (don't like) this abdomen, but yes, it's made specifically for torsion-to-the-left poses and at least for me will feel strange to see it in other poses.

It fall in the category of the pieces made for one single purpose, like certain breasts in innatural poses that imply some action on them.

No it will fit.
But as @Testament said, it could look a bit off depending on how you pose the doll. And possibly which bust they have.

hi all!!  sorry to butt in;
i'm plotting out my vinyl wishlist spreadsheet and i realized i don't know exactly how to make one of the dolls i have in mind.
i'm very fond of the type-n head, it's soooo expressive and versatile, and would like to make male and female twins with it ideally-- but angelphilia doesn't make male parts sadly.  has anyone made a guide to making an AP boy?  i've seen them out floating in the instagram ether but i believe usually they just use the small AP bust rather than going the full way.
AP dolls use an obitsu internal skeleton if i understand correctly, so would you just be able to hybrid on the flat chest of an obitsu (45?  40?  50?  i'm unsure which is best and would make him the same height as his twin at this point) and er.  be-penis'd lower torso as needed or is it more complex than that?  i like a lot of the AP limbs with how curvy and lanky they are, can they connect to obitsu pieces?  sorry if this doesn't make any sense, i've tried searching and doing research and just keep getting overwhelmed by the amount of parts and stuff there is.  😵
additionally iirc there's some difference between obitsu colours and volks colours of vinyl, is this true of ap and obitsu as well?

To me the posing is about the same than the other torsos. It doesn’t affect in anything the posing but it looks strange in pictures

I have used three bust sizes (Large, Medium, and small) with this torso and they all fit great.

For the most part, parts like arms, shins, hands and feet can be swapped out, but AP torsos are much bigger than stock OB torsos, so a small OB bust will not fit on an AP torso (you might be able to make it work by folding the torso, but that will ruin the aesthetic if the doll is naked and AP vinyl is softer so it might rip if you’re rough with it). The larger AP torso also means that the smaller OB thighs look out of place.

Neither AP nor OB make bepenised torsos to my knowledge.

Only AP makes parts in tan. Whitey and Super Whitey are the same between AP and OB, but AP parts have blushing that could make the stock OB parts look off if you’re really particular about small details like that.

Hmm.. I guess I will be sticking to the straight torso. I'm looking at one of the type-H torsos. I want build a body exactly like this one, but in tan skin with a type-J or M head. As you see, I really like this body. I hope this doesn't sound creepy!

@milkmoth Concerning the AP/Obitsu and Volks skin.. The bottom torso is AZO2 and the upper torso is Volks DD in semi-white. I believe Volks DD flesh (though I don't have a flesh DD myself, don't quote me on this) is the closest match to AP/Obitsu whitey skin. Parabox makes a 50cm boy torso and bottom. This guide by @baldylox may help you in some way too!

I want to attempt hybridizing this chest onto my DDdy (this picture was taken before I converted my DD to a DDdy). This bust belongs to Meigana! If I were to buy another H3 bust, then it would the second version. H3 v2 would go to Meigana and H3 v1 would go to my unnamed DDdy. I love my hybrids..

The AP bust and DD torso look like they fit decently together!  Given how the bust looks against SWS, it also looks like it is a very close match to flesh.  lmao, you're giving me ideas.

 

I might try getting a whitey bust through faithz, since I only have flesh Volks bodies (with the exception of the ICON).

What bothers me is how long the DD torso looks with the AP bust.. That bust is AP soft skin. I didn't want to force it down any further for fear of ripping it at the time I took this picture. But if you like something so much, then you will find a way to make it work (or fit)!

I'm not sure if you saw this picture already, but it's @yokha's DD Sheryl Nome and Alna with AP busts. Wait for me to find their skin tones..

Edit: Sheryl Nome's skin tone is Normal and Alna's skin tone is Semi-white.

Sheryl and Alma are both Flesh/Normal, and it looks like a near-perfect match.

About those dolls above with the AP busts, their owner does a lot of shrinking of vinyl body parts and from what I remember, those DD parts may have been shrunken.  I know he's done heads and other body parts before so that photo might be a bit misleading for the fitment.  I'm not taking away from the way they look, they are both gorgeous and well done!  I'm just saying it may not be as easy as it seems to put them together.

I wouldn't jump headfirst into it, either.  But I should have both types of bodies once my AP gets here to at least test it out/compare it without shrinking if anyone wants further comparison shots?

I finally took the plunge & placed an order for an Angel Philia lass! I'm excited to make her some clothes (first up some anti-staining undergarments of some kind, I'm new to vinyl, but I've heard it stains super easily).

I've heard AP's body blushing can rub or chip off super easily as well, though, and I'd really love for that lovely blushing to stay intact. Has anyone had any luck with preserving their blushing when under clothes? Be it a best fabric choice or sealants, etc.

When I was trying to cut the sockets out of my Angel Philia Hana, I accidentally cut her face I also removed her default faceup because I didn’t like it, I need to find a faceup artist haha.

@bubblysoda How bad is the cut?    Worst case scenario, you could work it into a scar, or mod.

@baldylox The 2nd picture doesn’t have a body mod. It comes with the torso joint like that. Is a very old type of Obitsu body that had the torso joint. I think is call DollyPop or something like that.
