Dollfie dream questions (newb here lol)

hey, im sorry if im posting this in the wrong section.... but my questions are:

1. where do i find a dollfie dream with a decent price?

2. can dollfie dream heads be bought seperately?

3. can the heads be attached onto bjd bodies?

4. is there a dollfie dream in male form/tiny chested? (and has there been anyone crossdressing them? )

1) define "decent" price - a limited character will run you anything from 800$+ (the sky's the limit), but just buying a plain head/body and customizing it yourself could be as little as 350$

 

2) yes: Volks sells a few blank heads, and sometime people sell off their limited chara heads too

 

3) yes, some people have tried it. It might not match perfectly and there's some issue of sizing

 

4)no they're all girls by default, yes someone out there must of crossdressed them (its a giant internet, haven't seen it all), but DD's can have S-size bust

decent price ..... well hmm i bought the bjd doll for 500 but you said starting price is 800 have you seen any for less? like maybe second hand ones? and where could i see a picture of a bjd with a dollfie dream head? just so i can see if it looks weird or not? if you know anywhere that has dollfie dreams second hand please tell me

With the yen exchange rate changes, and their new base-III bodies have driven the prices up. Aoi and Yukino, their always available base girls used to be in the lower 300s, now its $460

 

Volks collab characters are typically around $700 or 'round so at time of release (and with a lottery.. blah!) - all those video game or anime girls. Some might be cheaper (Rise was 600 and change), some might be costlier if they have complex accessories (Sakura was 700 but she has a neat sword & wired dress hem, Saber original 900 with all her armor 5 years ago)

 

but their own characters (Moe, Natsuki, Alna and so on) might be cheaper, or at least used to be, than collab charas. Natsuki & Moe ver1 were around $500 when they first came out. Natsuki ver 2 is about to come out, and the website lists her as 56,700yen ($715 at tonight's exchange rate)

 

Second-hand market for limited characters is CRAZY EXPENSIVE! Suddenly all those girls are marked up anything from 20% to 60%. Sometimes a full-set brand new from Volks was $800, but a few months later suddenly just the head of the girl is at that price. ;_; Good thing custom-painted heads are always around for reasonable prices and to all tastes!

Something I want to emphasize is that, unlike most resin BJDs, vinyl Dollfie Dreams do NOT depreciate in value the same way. In other words, a secondhand Dollfie Dream is most likely going to cost you more than it did new. Yes, even if it's an older one. There are certainly exceptions to that rule, and you can find deals from time to time. But in general, that's the rule of thumb. If you want the cheapest price, your best bet is to buy one new, honestly.

ohh D: i see.... hmm im not sure if id have the money and ive been looking at the dollfie dreams and id probably see if i was going to get into the hobby D:

A good start, if you want to build your own DD, is find the body style you're interested in, i.e. DDII - III DDdy or one of the smaller ones. ( If, fates willing, Volks EVER puts base bodies back into production.. ) Then, you've got the heads to look for. Volks has a nice selection, my Maiko is a DDH-02, while I also wouldn't rule out SQLabs, if you're looking for something different. Tana is an SQ-07 "Tsubaki" redone by chibinezumi. Price-wise, I think I've spent about $300 for each body/head combo.... eyes, wigs and clothes would probably run another $150 - $250 to "complete" her....

Mostly, I can only recommend that you hunt around some for the best deals.
