Lulu's first vinyl faceup: Amai 04 head

I recently finished my first ever faceup on vinyl. It's very different, having to paint on the eye outlines. With my resin dolls it's much easier, you are only doing a little eyeliner and the lashes, so doing this was a big learning curve.

 

What I did:

 

I sketched the idea with watercolour pencil first (after sealing the head 5 times) then painted over the lines with acrylics that had been thinned out with my thinnest brushes (which are actually for nail art)

 

I added a bit of blush with pastels and finished with some shimmer powder.

 

I'm really happy with the outcome, it could have been a lot worse!

 

I would like to assure you that the eyebrows are not neon pink. My decent camera ran out of juice so I had to use my little digital, which......is terrible.

 

I had a little misshap with the shimmer powder, you can see it on her left cheek, I'll fix it at some point though.

I'd brighten the images up more but when I do that you lose parts of the image, likely due to my camera setting to be honest.

 

I also did another faceup alongside this one on my 03 head, which I've yet to photograph.

 

What do you guys think? apart from the misshap with the shimmer powder of course. I AM good with constructive criticism but please, do try to be polite. If you feel you may come across rude due to something outside your control (example: language barrier) or you just have trouble with it, just say so before commenting, that way I won't misunderstand you

For this being your first time on vinly, it looks seriously awesome!

I think it looks very nice~ The only thing I really notice that might need some more attention are that her eyebrows aren't really the same shape--one is more triangular, with a peak, and the other is a smoother curve. It only stands out to me because dolls like this usually aim for symmetrical eyebrows. Other than that, I think you did a fantastic job~

Yes, symmetry has always been something I've struggled with as an artist (and perspective) I don't think I'll ever get my symmetry perfect but I can at least try and get it as perfect as I can. Which means more practice.

 

I also think that, doing a DD faceup over the span of a few days would help me. The longer I do 1 thing the more my hands protest and start to shake.
