Say hello to Mamimi !!

Well, I took some photos of Mamimi today to show her off all by herself. This is her first photoshoot and she wasn't too sure on what to do exactly. I told her to just do some poses for me and whatever she felt was fun to go for it.

 

She's still quite shy tho so I didn't get a bunch of awesome shots. But she did show me how well she can pose compared to her new sisters.

 

The DDS body is just amazing. It has minor flaws like odd looking joints in certain positions but overall I am more than excited to own one!

 

Before we begin with pics, a little story for Mamimi so you yall have some background to go on.

 

 

Mamimi and Manami are sisters. At a young age, Mamimi was sent overseas to Europe for schooling. The reason she went abroad is because her older sister Manami partied too hard and was not seen as serious enuff to be sent overseas all by herself.

 

Mamimi went to various places while abroad. She visited France briefly and then Italy. But those were only visits and no school was attended. She mainly studied in London and Edinburough. She loves the Scottish landscape and history. That's why you saw her plaid skirt when she first arrived, it was her school uniform over there.

 

Mamimi is very smart but very shy. She was always well liked in school but didn't have tons of friends due to her shy nature. So she poured herself into her studies instead of being super social.

 

When it comes to her sister Manami, Mamimi is VERY loving and confident. She is her true self when she is with her Oneesan. She can be protective of her Oneesan even tho *she* is the little sister. But she loves Manami with all her being and now that she is back with her, she won't let them get separated again.

 

 

So there is her backstory! Now....

Here is Mamimi modeling some new pajamas from Anne.

 

 

As you can see, she can easily bring her hands up to her face.

 

 

The balance and center of gravity on the DDS is amazing. Just look how far she can bend to the side without falling over! She is standing on her own, nothing propping her up.

 

 

She can also stand on her own with a huge arch in her back.

 

 

Even with her back arched way back and her chest pushed out, she still does the cute poses with no problems. Her balance is so great! Look at the positions of her feet and legs here....

 

 

You can see how she can raise her arm up and across her chest easily here.

 

 

Even with her hands up and tight near her body and one leg bent up, she still holds a standing pose with no support.

 

 

Now you can see the new elbow joint better. It comes WAY out if you let it.

 

 

Of course, having her hands able to come up to her face means certain poses can be done nicely.

So how can I have such a cute girl doing poses with her hands up like that and NOT do this next bit??

 

 

 

NEKOMIMI MAMIMI! Hey, that's kind of cute.... And notice her knees aiming in as well as her feet. And she is still standing up unaided!

 

I love the detail of the new "nyan" hands... she even has longer fingernails!

 

 

Sitting positions are also upgraded well. She can actually sit FORWARD if you want! I wish I could get a DDdy to do this!

 

 

Ah yes, lying down poses... Volks made a point to show the DDS in various positions of lying down or stretching out. Here is Mamimi sitting on the bed, nothing special.

 

 

Now here she is looking up at me... WAY up at me. The neck can go back a lot further than the DDII and DDdy girls. No need for the neck mod!

 

 

Sitting seiza is also easier and looks better with the DDS. She can tuck her legs under much closer than the other DD bodies can.

Very cute! The DDS is quite poseable, you seem to be getting some good use out of it. ^^ I love how easy it is to get them to stand on their own!

Lenny didn't seem too happy about being woken up though.

Wow, she's really cute. I'm loving how more "user friendly" her body is. (Wow, now that did not sound right at all!!!) It's great to not only see how flexable the DDS is but also how well balanced.

 

I hope Manami and the other girls are treating her nice. I grew up as the younger one and used to get crap from my older brother all the time. hehe

The DDS body sure is different when it comes to poses. I like how a DDS can stand on her own without much help. Baldylox, you did a very fine job showing us how Mamimi can stand on her own! Props!

Otakudepot - So far everyone has been very nice to her. At first noone knew what to expect but they all seem to get along for now. Which makes me happy.

Di-chan - I wish they would make the DDS a standard one too! So many people would love this body!

 

AlphaKitty - Yeah! I can't beleive how easy it was to get her to stand by herself! I could never get the others to do half the poses she pulled off here without some trickery or a stand. The more I get her to pose for me the better she'll get with her poses so I hope we can do lots more for you guys!

 

Mitsuki - What can I say? if not for you I would never have been able to do this! Thank you again! I hope the soul I traded you works out well for you.

DDII bodies and DDdy bodies can also touch their faces when their secret joints are used :3 Though I think the DDS pulls it off more gracefully. ^^;

Their standing ability is amazing! I really want them to let these bodies out over here (a sentiment I hear echoed in the other comments!)

The hidden joints are magical but tricky sometimes ^^; I knew about them before I had my first DD, but I know some people had their dolls for quite a while before learning of the "secret joint"

That would have been me in the latter group. I had no clue until Mitsuki said something about it to me. And it took a friggin heat gun to loosen the arms enuff for the joints to pop out the first time! I swear I pulled with all my might for what seemed like hours to no avail wihtout that heatgun. Now tho I love the extra mobility they get. Just have to watch for odd looks in pictures.

I don't know if they will be *more* popular but I can't see why Volks would not release these as base bodies. They could make a killing on them right now. But maybe they are still waiting to see how much clamor there is for these before doing any major additions.

This weekend I am going out of town to a nice garden along with other doll owners for a big photoshoot session. I will be bringing Mamimi along as well as Mai. And both of them have new upgrades to show off. Hopefully by Sunday afternoon or evening I'll have some good pics of them up to share!

Wow, that's pretty impressive. I've only dealt with resin (strung) BJDs for possibility, which can be limiting. I haven't been able to do many tests with the DDII body I have. I'm sure I'll play with that body type more for posing come August. (wait, that sounds bad) Great pics! Hope to see more!

Thank you! Yeah strung dolls aren't nearly as poseable as the regular DDII body. And the new DDS is just *that* much nicer. I am still amazed it does so many things!

 

As for the cute cat contest, BRING IT! I am sure I can get Lenny to do more kawaii posing... he's a camera hog.
