baldylox Posted July 20, 2012 That listed above isn't even taking into account other things like their business practices/vision and their overly braggy advertising and snotty sheep-like worshippers. Add those in and my dislike for them turns into intense hatred and the sincere hope that the entire company dies in a fire burns in hell. You have no idea how nice it is to see someone else who sees the exact same thing that I do! Rock on sir! Not that everyone I know with a Mac or Apple product is like this mind you, it just seems that people I *don't* know are always like you describe. And it drives me NUTS. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
littlebearries Posted July 20, 2012 Gah, with all the Mac razzing, I'm almost afraid to say it... but I prefer Macs. I'm a Graphic Designer... so I work on a Mac every day... and it's the most reliable computer I've ever had. I do also have a PC... I in no way am a Mac snob... but for the job I do, I prefer the Mac.
gaiaswill Posted July 20, 2012 I don't own any Apple products, but not out of malice. They're just not engineered nor priced to my taste. I appreciate that they exist though, because they do decent work and are willing to commit more money on average on unproven product lines. I shudder to think of the sorry excuse for a tablet market that existed prior to iPad. Ditto touch interfaces prior to iPhone. And color management is one thing Windows has yet to get really right, even with colorometer help. (Windows defaults to the "too blue" settings I had prior to calibration when running fullscreen games, and doesn't always put it back after quitting, for example.) If anything, I would say their major failing functionally speaking is that their designs are not as invisible as they could be. A good tool gets out of your way, rather than shoving how chic it is in your face. (I still don't forgive them for the soapbar mouse!)

Ara Posted July 20, 2012 I'm a PC user, mostly because out of a habit and because I like to fix stuff myself (and also don't really have the money for a Mac). In our household are at the moment two iPod Touch and one iPhone, and I love my Touch A LOT. I use it of course for hearing music, but it's also my portable portfolio and I use the Safari and Mail App a lot instead of switching on my computer. Saves energy, and I'm also not tempted to stay on the computer for too long instead of working. My Touch is one of the first American ones (got it from someone who was in the US while they hit the stores), so he's quite old now and a bit slow, but he's my favourite. wotafarce Posted July 21, 2012 I have tried PC and MAC over the years and have enjoyed using both. My main criteria is that my tech works and does so with the minimum of fuss and hassle, to that end I now use Windows 7 PCs as I have found that OS to be very very stable, easy to find software for and to just do what I want it to do. In the past I would have said the same for my MAC kit but the new stuff is just too expensive and does not have enough of an advantage over my PC kit to justify the expense . I tend to run about a generation behind with my PCs. Having said that I have a 1st gen iPad after trying and falling out with various android tablets, again it just works (though itunes should be consigned to a fiery hell), my phone is an HTC Wildfire android phone and I have a netbook running linux mint for playing with. SakuraSylph Posted July 21, 2012 I personally use PCs with Windows and Linux, although I have nothing against the OSX Macs. All my software is for PC, so I just keep using that - Adobe isn't going to give me a free Photoshop for Mac if I trade in my Windows version, so I have disincentives to switch platforms. The same would be true if I had a bunch of Mac software. SakuraSylph
DivinitaAria Posted July 22, 2012 I have a Mac that I needed for school for graphic design, but I have switched majors, so I'll stick with my mbp. It's nice, but I can't seem to find any MMOs for Mac Rise - Rise // Rise #2 - Rise // Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) Waiting on: DDH-25 for custom Akechi 🥰
PlasticFantastic Posted July 23, 2012 Haters always gonna hate, but I went from growing up on PC to switching to Mac about 6 years ago and haven't looked back. I'm still running on my original MacBook 13" (the blackbook) on OSX Leopard (so I'm like 2 OSes behind) and everything still works as well as it did when I bought it new. A lot of people here seem to group the iDevice family in with the Apple computer brand but I don't agree with this since they're two completely different beasts. That being said, I'm sad to see some people have had such bad experiences with respect to durability. I'm still using my 6 year old laptop without issue, and I still have my 3rd gen iPod (prior to colour screens!) and it works fine as well. Apple's warranty is the best in the business, and I consider that price difference to be the cost for actual customer service versus the nightmare of dealing with some of the other companies (I'd had to do warranty through IBM - that was awful!) I still use a PC every day for work, running on my personal favourite: Windows X P so I've avoided Vista and 7 so far. I prefer Apple but have no real issues using PC's - they're just not my first choice. Please visit my YouTube channel for helpful DD tips, tutorials, and reviews! zakka Posted July 24, 2012 I'm a PC person. Like it much better. Being an art student, I've been forced to use a mac more than I'd like. I admit that it drives me crazy, the whole myth of "Art people NEED to use a Mac" because I'm tired of other art students acting like my computer means I can't really be a true ~artisst~ like them. Marketing at it's finest. My PC has done everything I've needed it to do. Also another trend I see in my friends is a lot of them went to Mac after having bad issues with computer durability and speed. It's the same people who bought a $300 PC laptop from Wal-Mart and wrecked it in a year, then buy an expensive macbook pro and are astonished by how much faster it is, and how much longer it lasts. Not to say that all mac users are like that of course-- but it still amuses me.
katnaper Posted July 25, 2012 I still use a PC every day for work, running on my personal favourite: Windows X P so I've avoided Vista and 7 so far. I prefer Apple but have no real issues using PC's - they're just not my first choice. We love Windows X P. Lots of old school games you can play with it. We've always been a very PC household since like RaveOfNightmares, my husband likes building his own desktop. I think that and the fact that Macs are a little too pricey for me, are just two of the reasons why we would probably never switch. Not that I hate Macs, I think if you do a lot of work with graphics then they'd be a reasonable investment but since I don't, I find that there isn't any need for me to get one. And besides, the money I saved from getting a Mac can go into the dollieh fund We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. I prefer Apple but have no real issues using PC's - they're just not my first choice. I think you'd like Windows 7. It's a LOT like OSX. Like I said in my own post, I'm fairly indifferent to operating systems. But Windows 7 is my favorite version of Windows so far (have used literally every version at some point or another from Windows 95 and up). I have trouble running older games on it, but honestly that's mostly because of my dual core, 64-bit processor, and not Windows 7. Are you ready to rock? ^_^
Ravendruid Posted August 2, 2012 I started out on a Commodore 64, shortly thereafter got an Apple II clone (Laser 128), but I've run MS software since I was 6 starting with MSDOS 2.3, 3.something, 5.0, then every windows version from 3.0 to 7 with the excepthion of Vista (which SK has on her machine) I have to say, I loved X P and after seeing Vista I was terrified of upgrading, but 7 is so smooth. I love it to death. Like others have said, I have trouble with older games, but, again, that has more to do with older programs refusing to play nice with 64 bit hardware, so is mostly my own fault. I have no personal hate against Apple, just it seems like a large part of the price tag is for the design, and I really don't feel like I need to pay more for that since I really don't stare at my computer much, just the monitor. Also, some left over resentment from the Mac Classic, and HATING the fact that it was a PITA to repair or customize yourself, when IBMs and clones were so simple to mess around in. As for their other devices, I've owned 1 cel phone, for 4 months, and while I've occasionally thought an MP3 player might be nice for when I'm salking across town or riding the bus, the cost never seemed justifiable to me, so honestly the Iphones, Ipods, and Ipads, always looked like they might be fun little toys if I ever got rich, they never impressed me as something I "have to have". I don't generally dislike Mac users, though. I know lots of people who use Macs and are perfectly decent people and don't come across as hipster douchebags, but I have certainly met enough rabid Apple Fanbois, who believed that Steve Jobs excreted gold from every orifice, to know that they do exist in not insignificant numbers. Finally, EVERY piece of Apple hardware I've ever handled has been a royal pain to set up to use left-handed. glassjaw Posted August 20, 2012 I work with Mac/Windows/Linux platforms. but all day given the chance I'll choose Windows. Economic, welcomes competition (sport) and reliable. If only Steam would be welcomed by Linux distributions. then It might give my Open Suse an edge. Seriously I hate Apple. Right now were using a MacPro Servers and a couple of Xserve. they're the one who always give hiccups when transferring files and not only that they're the most expensive server rack we have. I give it to them that their product is shiny and looks like it came from space, but c'mon they charge x2 for their counterpart. I dare you to change your Apple (memory/RAM) ask a GENIUS how much it will cost, Its x3 of a normal memory which has the same brand and same frequency speed. of a normal memory, seriously people you need to wake up! Its hard to swallow if you support Apple for the longest time, and I know if it doesn't give you any problems then why change? why bother? I can buy my Apple products seemingly enough. I can see that. but for me who have been here for quite some time and I see MacFanatics on other forums trying to throw their Ideologies that MACs are the BEST and Steven Jobs is a god, why not try get that head out of your ... and try to read some stuff, try to study and research try doing this JOB for quite a while to understand what really is happening. Apple is not Elite its just also another company trying to milk money and their business strategy so far is the best bar none.(be different), srsly MAC OSX OS? a Ubuntu could fare better, and for free. these are hard times people. check out the infringement case/ patent cases they have.. its a joke. Averis Posted August 20, 2012 Before this turns into a heated debate, let's just keep it simple and state what we use/prefer etc. We don't need to judge others for what they use/prefer. At the end of the day it's just hardware and software.

xsoverload Posted August 22, 2012 I'm ... both? I use a Mac 90% of the time. Pretty much for everything besides gaming. I still have a fairly low tier/mid level PC to play games on once in awhile. And I opt for a Mac because two simple reasons - the trackpad and OS X. I'm just really used to having multiple desktops and the Mac trackpads make using those desktops that much easier. I was able to convince more than one person in the office to try Macs because of those reasons and many converted over. Yes, Macs are slightly more expensive (the gap isn't as big as it used to be) than PC counterparts. But upgrading and fiddling around with some of their products isn't as bad as it used to be. I paid the same amount as a PC notebook user for a RAM upgrade because I bought it myself and installed it myself. Plus, I'm sure there is a PC option notebook option to do something similar to the picture below but the fact that I can do this with my Mac just makes it more useful - to me. IMG_20120619_182153 by xsoverload, on Flickr I doubt stuff like this will be an option in the future with the route Apple has been going. But as long as SSDs go down in price, I won't complain ... too much. Plus, I'm still a little miffed about the whole AirPlay mirroring only being available on 2011+ Macs. I understand it's a technical issue but it still doesn't give me warm and fuzzy feelings.
PuffsxPlu Posted September 24, 2012 I'm a PC because of it's simplicity. It's what I've used my whole life, and I have no actual reason to switch over. I'm sure if I found one, I'd switch over without huffing, but for now...PC

mistyaera Posted October 5, 2012 PC over here, and I'm not ashamed of it. But I recognize that they both have their strengths. I grew up using the old Apple computers and PCs, and I was always, for some reason, frustrated by the MACs even though I was using them when I was 7. However, MACs are definitely better for design and such. I'll probably end up with one as I work on my degree simply because it will be a necessity. But I'll keep my good ol' PC for the simple stuff (and games!)
