thebobness Posted July 20, 2012 So i always been bad at posing whether it be for figmas, dollfies, or anything posible. One of my friends said you have to look at it in a natural way? anyway anyone have any tips?
Anna-neko Posted July 20, 2012 I save pictures of poses seen and liked, and then try to reproduce them. This could be anything from other people's doll shots to random ads in magazines. It really gives some good ideas if anything
baldylox Posted July 20, 2012 When I was first starting out doing posing with Manami, she looked pretty rigid and "wooden" so to speak. But since she was basically a fashion model, I decided to check out those types of magazines and photo shoots online to see how real life models pose. That helped out a lot. Like Chise said, I also looked at lots of pics of girls on FFM and used those poses as starting points for my posing. Doing fashion shoots and basic pics of your girl showing off new clothes is a bit easier than photo stories tho, that's where you have to really think about how they look doing things. I basically just started by doing the pose myself and seeing how it looked and felt, then emulated that with the girls. If a pose looked off or wonky, I'd try again until it "felt" right. The main thing is to take LOTS of pictures. Most of my photo stories end up being 35-50 photos long to tell the story I want. But in getting to that, I usually wind up taking 100 pics or more and then going back thru those to see what worked and what didn't. I easily delete half of my pics every time I do a shoot. Most often I'll have enuff leftover to do the story well but sometimes I have to go back and do reshoots of certain pics and poses. But most of what I discard is multiple photos of the same scene, just at different angles and such to make sure I got the shot I want. Digital "film" costs nothing so take as many pics as you can to get what you need. Don't get discouraged tho, just practice a lot and it will come to you. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Nekopon Posted July 20, 2012 Yeah, looking at other dollfies with cool poses are definitely good for practice. A pose may look good from different angles so try taking pictures of it many times and from many different angles. From one pose, I can easily take 20+ pictures. My actual photos to publish ratio is only 1:15 so out of 15 pictures I take, I'll probably only end up liking one of them. And that doesn't even count if I don't like it after pose processing, haha. Posing and taking photos are both definitely something that takes a lot of time to produce to your liking. Of course I'm going on a tangent though because you're asking about posing, not taking photos. T___T; Anyways, just take some time look at other peoples' photos, Volks official pictures, or even the Fanbook to get some ideas. I guess this is my best advice for you, Use your own body try and see what pose is natural to YOUR body. If you're not comfortable with the pose you put your dollfie in, it's likely that they don't look very "natural" either.
