Tieren Posted July 26, 2012 Today my first limited dollfie dream arrived. Originally I wasn't planning on doing a box opening post, since I've done one of those before. But then I realized that I've never done a box opening post with DDs taking part.... This DD I won in an auction on Yahoo Japan through a proxy service. It ended up costing me more than I expected, but I really wanted to try the Y!JA process. (Sorry about the dark spots in the corners of the photos. The lens cover on my camera isn't opening properly.) mariko1 by TierenDD, on Flickr mariko2 by TierenDD, on Flickr mariko3 by TierenDD, on Flickr mariko4 by TierenDD, on Flickr At this point I was a bit concerned because normally you can see the DD's face through the holes in the box. I was super nervous... mariko5 by TierenDD, on Flickr And then super happy when I found this inside. She was just super-safe in layers of bubble wrap. mariko6 by TierenDD, on Flickr While I was searching for some clothes Mariko decided to do a bit of a sexy show. mariko7 by TierenDD, on Flickr mariko8 by TierenDD, on Flickr mariko9 by TierenDD, on Flickr mariko10 by TierenDD, on Flickr marikoC by TierenDD, on Flickr Her joints are super stiff so in the near future I'll probably take her apart and sand down her pegs a bit, just as a precaution. It's great that she arrived without any cracks, but I feel like she's about to get one with every pose.
DJStarstryker Posted July 26, 2012 Congrats! It's kind of neat that you have one of each type of doll you can have: one custom, one non-limited (Yukino), and one limited. Are you ready to rock? ^_^

Tieren Posted July 26, 2012 (edited) Thank you everyone! Congrats! It's kind of neat that you have one of each type of doll you can have: one custom, one non-limited (Yukino), and one limited. Not only that but they also have different bodies, DDII, DDIII, and DDS. And they have different busts too! Yuki is M, Misty is L, and Mariko is L Shapely. baldylox Posted July 26, 2012 Yay! Another Mariko gets a good home! Congrats on getting her! It's good news that she doesn't have any cracks yet and your idea to sand down her pegs is a great one. Being cautious is a good way to go with her. Your 3 girls together are really sweet! They make an adorable family! And adding yourself in the last pic was cool! I like seeing owners with their girls. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Billy I spent soooo much time working on the photo with me in it. I tried a bunch of different poses, positions, and camera settings and this is the one I liked the most. I took Mariko apart tonight to do the sanding and I was surprised to see that there are grooves in her pegs. I didn't know they did that with the DDS bodies; why didn't they do that with the first DD3s?
baldylox Posted July 27, 2012 I spent soooo much time working on the photo with me in it. I tried a bunch of different poses, positions, and camera settings and this is the one I liked the most. Yup, whenever I put myself in pics, I do the same thing. LOADS of tries before I'm happy with something. I took Mariko apart tonight to do the sanding and I was surprised to see that there are grooves in her pegs. I didn't know they did that with the DDS bodies; why didn't they do that with the first DD3s? Ah good, the grooves are supposed to help with the strain and friction in the joints. On the first series of new bodies, they didn't know about the cracking issues and the friction of having the pegs too tight in the holes was causing way too much friction and the surrounding plastic not being able to handle it made them crack and break. But Volks made a running change and started the grooves to reduce the strain and friction in the joints. I would still sand the pegs in her shoulders and hips tho to further lessen the possibility of cracking in the future. Just do a little at a time and you'll be fine. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
anonymous_object Posted August 3, 2012 Congrats on your new girl! Mariko has such a sweet face ^^ Also, congrats on your first YJA purchase. Going through the proxy process can be quite an expensive process >_<. Be careful though, buying on YJA is a addictive (and costly) habit
