MagicalRozen Posted October 19, 2014 Like so many others here, I've always liked dolls (and anime). I first learned about Dollfie Dreams while looking around the web for dolls similar to Pullips. My eyes came across a Dollfie Dream Beatrice while searching, and I fell head over heels in love. I feel like Dollfie Dreams are unique in so many aspects, and absolutely gorgeous. They pose well, are customizable and have a certain "life-like" quality. Like they can display certain characteristic better than other dolls. That's really why I love them so much! Khepra, Nero, Tamaki, Ginkgo, Kana, Bernkastel, Himiko, Ann, Rin, Chii, Vampire, Amane, And Others That May Come And Go. Banner by @PlasticJester

I love painting them and making eyes and clothes for them and they're so beautiful and cheerful and easy to pose and photograph but... I genuinely wonder why you think that DDs have more 'life-like' qualities than their cousins, the resin BJDs when they're made specifically to be more realistic? My apologies, I was simply comparing my Dollfie's expressions to other dolls I've owned. Compared to Pullips (which is the only other doll I've collected), she shows more "life like" qualities. I've actually never seen a resin BJD in real life. Sorry for the confusion Soenatte. I'm not very good at describing things... Soenatte Posted October 19, 2014 No worries! I was simply curious~ I suppose in comparison to Pullips and the like you're definitely right x3 their proportions for one... Baakay Posted December 5, 2014 I've had several DD bodies over the years that I've been collecting dolls, and I've always loved them. They play nicely with all sorts of heads. They're not as heavy as their resin counterparts and they're much more fun to dress I've only recently gotten interested in the heads themselves, and what finally made it for me was that some characters just don't look good in anything other than an "anime"-esque face! I have, for example, a Lina Inverse and Amelia Wil Tesla Seillune from Slayers after many attempts - I settled on a couple of SQLabs heads for them because they suited those two characters. And after looking at Lina and Amelia for years the Volks-like dolls have finally grown on me and I caved and bought a 2nd-hand head (a 7, I believe). And after that it was all over. They obviously have a much different look and feel than the bulk of my doll collection but I love 'em anyway. Oh it also helps that my Best Friend and Natural Enemy is a DD fan of high order (he's why I'm here, really) so I get shown all the newest and coolest as they come out. I'll never catch up to his collection, though
KahoruChan Posted December 5, 2014 Because I always like anime/manga and dolls! I started to collect bjd's and this year I start to feel interest for Dollfie Dreams although I didn't have much information about that dolls hahaha (Now I'm noob yet hahaha) but I decided try to get one and I love it! They're really different than bjd's, I love their bodies and posability and their anime faces
MileenaAngel Posted December 18, 2014 I only got a DD because my all time favorite Video game character was KOS-MOS and since Volks released her I'd been hunting for one. I finally got her second hand and was hooked. Now I'm getting a Miku, and later a DDS and maybe a DDdyIII
Sadomina Posted December 21, 2014 I love anime and manga for years and this attracted me to the doll hobby - but I have started with resin dolls before and always admired DD girls (I just LOVE their pretty anime faces and outfits more than BJD girls) At home: Yuna (DD Saber Extra) • Kaho (DDdy Miko)
AriDonut Posted December 24, 2014 I love their cute faces and soft features! On top of that, anime/manga has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember and it's always fun to see or have anime characters that can be posed and taken to places on many adventures.~
kaisuki Posted December 26, 2014 They are so much lighter than resin bjd ... Anime cute faces so much possibility to custom the heads
Conuresans Posted December 27, 2014 Like a lot of people, I like DDs because I've always been a fan of anime and dolls so to find something that mixed the two was perfection in my book! And being able to customize them to my liking just sold me on it. And the size was an added bonus because in what major superstore can you find a doll the size DDs are that are also as customizable and cute? idiolect Posted January 14, 2015 They're like big action figures. I love figures. I've been collecting anime figures for a while and DD seemed like a nice addition.
Thespian Posted January 15, 2015 I was raised on Sailor Moon, so I've long been a fan of anime! Dollfie Dreams were the first large dolls I ever saw, and sort of reignited the young girl in me. They don't yellow like resin dolls, and they're just generally cute. I don't feel pressure to give them super deep and edgy stories, they just get to be cute and goofy and do fun things. This community also seems really sweet and I've always wanted to be a part of it Kiyomi DDS DDH-06 🧡 Miyuki DDS DDH-06 🧡 Shiori DDS Mariko Summer Festival 🧡 Kanade DDDy DDH-07 🧡 Honoka DD DDH-09 🧡 Priyanka DDS Anthy Himemiya Any pronouns are fine
karakuri Posted February 22, 2015 I've always been so damng gay for cute anime girls and lately I've gotten back to anime and back to my OC ideas and back to all of it and I've always loved dolls. After I got to know these dolls better at a convention by meeting owners and collectors I found out that the material and the whole concept actually works better than on BJDs and since they are all guaranteed to be hella cute, how could I resist? I like it that there are options, I like seeing customs, I like cute girls, I love seeing the photos. I love them and they are beautiful.

Byddie Posted February 24, 2015 I like how they are not strung by elastic (a thing I didn't enjoy about owning bjds). I also like how there's at least one mold with no eye holes, there's a lot of potential to be had! tumblr
jeko Posted February 25, 2015 I watch anime and collect figurines of my favorite characters, and I do not like anything with joints, only static ones. I do have a couple figuarts but that's only because there were no other figure-collectibles of that series made. With posable figures I feel troubled how I should pose them, because I'm not very imaginative and would prefer to just admire a beautiful statue that iconizes the character and series. My few figuarts are still in that same pose I put them as when I got them, and the poses come straight from the box-art. At first, I didn't find Dollfies attractive at all. Posable, eerily life-like-but-still-animeish 60cm figurines? Awful! But then I found many beautiful photos in flickr, and finally came across cnvl's account. I was astounded how you could see life breathed into those dolls, and got struck by inspiration of a character I want to make myself. The thought that I've found a way to create something that is partly related to my anime hobby (can't draw nor write, certainly cannot animate) that has the possibility to also look beautiful and give that illusion of life just feels so very thrilling. The fact that this is something original I will make, and it will be seen and counted as a part of all this japanophilia anime-manga-otaku culture makes me incredibly happy. The need to belong and do so by creating, is something I've longed to do, and now finally I can. All that's left is for my DD III body to arrive from Volks. Lina Posted March 15, 2015 I like the anime style aesthetic a lot, And I really want to do bigger/more detailed clothing that I'm struggling to get with MSDs. Plus, They're all so adorable! Even the sculpts I don't care for are still cute.
phenix0610 Posted April 7, 2015 I like DD because they are more positive than BJD in my opinion. Most of DDs are smiling. And it makes me smile back when I look at them. Waiting: DDS Sailor Moon
pitterpat Posted April 9, 2015 I used to watch a whole lot of anime and read manga, but strangely the first dolls I got were SDs. However, as the variety of faceups for DDs increased, I started falling in love with DDs for their cute and spunky 'personalities'. How they can pose cutely and still look natural, and so easy to pose and so light.
super0sonic Posted April 9, 2015 I like the anime look. They are just too cute.
Yenna Posted April 24, 2015 I like DDs for a lot of reasons. They're sturdy in their poses and not as fragile as my resin dolls, so they don't require as much protection during travel and I don't have to be so paranoid about them falling while I back away for a photo. They're also nicely big (I like big dolls) and yet not heavy at all. Easy to take to places and pop in and out of a carry case. Not that I have much experience with this yet, but I can see this being so much easier than with my other dolls. Their optional parts are also much cheaper than what I'm used to: a definite plus! They're also adorable and a completely different aesthetic from my resin dolls -even the less realistic ones. I like to own different things. heerowings Posted April 25, 2015 I like DDs because they have the anime girls look. Also, they are customize-able. You can change their eyes, wigs, clothes etc to make them look like how you want them to. You can even have a custom face up done! They are also more flexible and much more pose-able compared to string resin dolls. They also have a lot of accessories and clothing to choose from. DDs will allow me to use whatever female character I have created in my mind and realize it in a doll form. Kind of like creating your dream girl. =D
