why do YOU like DD?

I love DD because of their adorable charm! When I first saw them on Danny Choo's page, I couldn't help but get interested in them! When I got my first girl, she just had so much charm that I had to keep getting her clothes and another sister, and in the end I have so many adorable girls

I thinks it's partly because danny choo-san influence

a few years back I'm still new to figures and start collecting pvc, nendo & figma

and I think when danny introduce about dollfie dream that I start interested though that it's VERY expensive

but well a few year later (around mid 2012) that I can finally start adopted my first DD akiyama mio after saving for long time

and time moves on, now have currently 4 daughter mio, saber alter, nero & lily and maybe more in future

They're just so adorable. And they allow a lot of customization, that's very important as well.

When I got into the anime/manga hobby I got a bunch of figures but even though they seemed nice at first, I did get bored of them pretty quickly - with a static figure you can't really do much else with it besides just looking at it, and well, the internet's full of pretty pictures of figures so don't really see any point anymore in purchasing any more myself. Though I do still like Good Smile's Figma line because it's so much fun swapping the heads of the figures. ahaha derp.

So yeah, a DD would allow that but with even more options than the figmas and due to the larger size they're of course a lot more refined. My friend was looking at pictures for months and sharing them with me and then he got a Saber Extra and after I had a chance to meet her I was instantly sold haha. Now just looking for the right one for me.

I like DDs because of their more mature bodies, especially the DDdy. When I started thinking about getting a doll, I knew I wanted one with a large bust and more womanly body. I like resin dolls but I don't like how baby-ish they look. The plastic armature is also a big plus because stringing and restringing is a pain, haha. I've been into anime for 10+ years so the style was a big plus also. And honestly, I kind of like the DD community better because I feel like there's less snootiness.

DDs are great. The community is smaller in my opinion so it's a lot easier to get involved with and nobody is really elitist like "Volks are supreme rulers of the doll world!" because Volks are the only company that make DDs (unless you want to count Obitsu and SQ-Labs etc, but even then they're is no elitism). I was into resin girls before now and Den of Angels was just so overwhelming. I also prefer the bodies to that of resin girls. They're lighter and easier to handle. I love the fact it don't have to suffer with the elastic every time i want to change the hands for example. They're a bit more difficult to buy for, but that's okay by me. I'm not a huge spender on clothes anyway...yet...^_^' I also prefer the characters dolls because I'm hugely OCD when it comes to accuracy. They just tick all the boxes.

At home; DDH-07 'Medea',

Saving for; A body and Saber Lily ^_^

As someone else mentioned, others with DD's are less snotty about their dolls, and plus; DD's are beautiful. I really don't like resin since I've had bad experiences with dolls made out of resin before. And not to mention the 'anime' look to these dolls. I really have a big interest in Japanese culture and etc and to own something that was brought up in Japan is exciting~

I like DDs because they're adorable and always look so happy and full of energy and life! I don't know... I used to only have resin dolls and at first I didn't think I could get into Dollfie Dreams... as in ever. But they started growing on me and then I happened on my DD Aoi 1st on the Den of Angels Marketplace... and the rest is history.

I don't think I like DDs more than my resin dolls though; I like them both the same, each for what they are!

I might be odd here, but I'm not a very big fan of Anime... ^^; I used to enjoy it in high school but I just lost interest, and spent my "manga-savings" on BJDs~ u_u;

I do like figurines and dolls, and to me DD's are like the 'Ultimate Figurine' lol, without the fuss of restringing (like my resin BJDs) and they have more "presence" than a figma XD Dollfie Dreams are always so cute, and beautiful and bubbling over with personality! I've always like them, and I'm so happy to be finally bringing one home! I'm still new here but I like that the "community" is smaller (at least in my head it is), like others have said, there's no snobbery & no need to "prove" that one doll/company/ect is better than another (and other such sillyness that I've seen on other doll forums) We're all here because we enjoy these dolls and that's it!

Wow, that's *exactly* the way I would describe them. I just hadn't worked that far through it myself yet. Thanks.

The smiles.

I have 10 resin dolls (5 tinies, 4 minis, 1 large) and all except one of them is pouty. After looking around at all the different companies it seems the majority of resin dolls have neutral or pouting faces and while they are beautiful it is a bit off-putting after a while when it comes to possibly getting new dolls.

Also, while I love my resins they pose like, well, dolls. Every vinyl doll I've had has posed better, which is why I have a DD on layaway now.

Oh, and then there's the fact that there are far fewer body types so clothes always seem to fit DD better. With my mini resins all three girls have different bodies so clothes fit differently on them, and it's hard to find stuff that doesn't look too shota-ish for my boy.

This! I owned three pouty/not very smiling dolls and I sold them. I looovee smiling dolls.

My Mikuru has this silly, awkward mouth that looks so cute and smiley.

Rise has a nice smile and her little teeth are so cute.

I absolutely love Beat Angel Escalayer's smile. I'd love to have Mikuru's mouth modded like that, or just find that head.

Otherwise, I love DDs for their size, anime faces, and for how customizable they are. The keep me company in my single dorm room I love taking them to anime conventions and meeting other owners. I enjoy being in this community as well since it feels smaller compared to DoA.

That's funny, out of my 6 resin dolls, 4 of them are smiling. I like pouty faces, I don't know where all these smilers came from! And of my three DD girls, only 1 of them is smiling. I did choose DDH06 for her sweet smile, though

I think I haven't made an actual response to this topic...

I like DDs because 1) I love BJD dolls 2) I love anime 3) After looking at lots of pretty pictures I realized how great these dolls can be, I didn't give them much attention for a long time, sadly...

I used to mainly like male dolls (and male anime characters), but, I dunno, I sorta changed my perspective and now I really enjoy cute anime girls, moe, etc. So my love of Dollfie Dreams fits in to that. Strangely (or not so strangely?) I'm still not too interested in resin girls. I guess they don't touch on my love of anime style enough.

I like the anime style. Some of the resin BJDs I've seen online looks a bit too real for me, but DDs don't have that uncanny valley feeling that some BJDs have.

I like DDs because of how stylized they are. I love seeing anime characters come to life!

I really like the super curvy style of the DDs. The tiny little waist on the cute heart shaped hips really does it for me. A lot of the resin girls don't seem to have that oomph like the DDs do.

I like their anime style. Is like they just jump out from a cartoon! Also they are so light and easy to handle compare to my Resin girls (I so worried that when they pose they will drop and broke something...). And also because of their shape they seems fit into anything in the dolly wardrobe is great fun playing with them.

I'm a guy, so...pretty girls. Lol. The realistic look creeps me out; I like the anime look a lot more. I've been a collector of figures and models for years, and so making the leap into collecting DDs wasn't that big of a stretch; it just seemed like the next logical step. It's basically a figure that you can dress up however you want!

I came to DD via resin bjds, as well, but I've always collected whichever dolls I love, regardless of material (or race, creed, national origin, the usual non-discriminatory disclaimers).

Also, unlike most of you lovely folks, I really have never been into Japanese culture/anime/manga, and am still not! My adult kids love it, but it's just never really appealed to me.

But why DD? I fell in love with the DD Standard Yukino. She reminded me of my Volks SD Kun, a doll I utterly adore. And now, I just DD as much as resins!

For demographics sake, I'm a middle-aged woman, which puts me squarely outside the target market for DD!

I entered the Dollfie Dream world after several years collecting anime PVC figures. Have always loved anime since I was a little kid and was naturally drawn to the PVC figures Alter, Good Smile etc. created. However, there was always one thing that annoyed me with figures, they were static. You couldn't change their looks, poses or outfits!

Then I stumbled upon Volks and their Dollfie Dream lineup and have never looked back at PVC figures. Sure, Dollfie Dreams are more expensive (by a lot) but they are worth it. Being able to enjoy anime based dolls that I can customize to my liking is what I love the most about Dollfie Dreams.

Realistic??? Do you mean the level of detail compared to figures? I didn't think anyone would call a DD face realistic...

Realistic anime style faces, as if they came to life, so to speak. It makes them very endearing. It is the eyes that gives many of them more realism.

I think there is something magical, and somewhat exiting about Dollfie Dreams. When I compare them to strung bjds (so far I only own resin/strung bjds), I think they have more life because of the dynamic poses they can hold, and their photography and clothes are definitely my style. I always love seeing pictures of people's dollfie dreams on their desks or in their 'native' environment. I think they are gorgeous.

I also like that they are a little less realistic, as I have always been a big fan of the anime style.
