Corsets are just so sexy!

Even on men?

Thanks EVER so much for that mental picture.

Yes, even on men as long as they are men's corsets! Like this one or this one. You cannot argue that this is a Victorian man's natural shape, and men wore corsets into the Edwardian and it was not an uncommon thing because it gave the appearance of an athletic shape. [/soapbox]

Even in BJD I pay attention to these same things, and one of the reason I'm not too phased by the fact that the current male DD options are based on the modern woman's waist. Except Danny Choo's newest girl he has designed. She is so unbelievably perfect for an overbust hourglass type corset.

Why yes, I am a corset otaku. If guys can drool over cars, I can drool over corsets.

I didn't like them at first, but then I saw the owner photos and the custom face ups and UI thought that's cute. But it was the MDD that stole my heart. They're so cute and tiny(ish). After finding this forum and seeing all the adorble custom MDD I know I'm doom.

It's good to know that there are others out there that have an appreciation for men in corsets. Just because it's a corset, doesn't mean its a wasp waist.

I, for one, would totally be willing to wear that vest one, provided that it wasn't during summer. I've seen a few others that really looked like something I'd love to wear, at least occasionally.

I love how customizable they are. You can do anything under the sun to them to make them exactly how you like. You can have different hair, eyes, clothes. You can really personalize who that girl is. You can paint her face with so much expression and personality. You really show off who she is and who you are by how she is dressed.

I adore Dollfie Dreams. There are endless possibilities. No one has the same one as anybody else. Even if they're technically "the same", they're different in small ways.

I love DDs because of how customizable they are, and posability, and size, and the more realistic body (as opposed to dolls made for little girls, like American Girl etc.) Each doll has a unique look that reflects their own personality as well as the owner's taste. The anime-like features are also a plus. I remember being creeped out by dolls when I was younger, and I still am by some brands, but for some reason I have no problem with DDs, or most BJDs.

I have to add that more reasons I love DD is how perfectly snuggily they are, both the MDD and the DD. I spent yesterday watching anime with Naiomi, and even she isn't too big to hold comfortably. (I hate to admit that this is the first chance I've had to sit down with her and just spend quality time since she was completed last Fall!) I think their size has a lot to do with how much our DD move around our house, they are just so easy to pick up and carry with you, and when you tell them no they just switch on their cuteness powers and win anyway...

The other thing is I really love how smooth their skin/vinyl is. I'm significantly sensitive to how things feel, and I was surprised how often I find myself running my fingers over their legs, hands, and feet. Even though the vinyl is firm, the surface is pleasantly smooth.

I have to say that DD are the first dolls I've collected that were 'near life-like' because of the sculpting, but also the realistically moving and poseable joints. Even after over a year, this fact still amazes me.

The unexpected side affect of the DD is also how they impact mental health (at least for me.) I'm the first to admit that I'm not a normal person, but I still have to fit into a normal person's world. In short, this has a severe negative affect on my chronic depression, often due to feeling like I can't ever keep up with anyone and the normal pace of life. With the DD they don't loose their temper at me when I stop functioning, and they can wait until I resume some form of normal function. All the while just sitting there looking so utterly adorable (and making me wonder how I ever deserved them), and giving me someone to talk to when it gets nearly impossible to talk to 'real' people, even my husband. They are always ready for hugs, often are just as excited about what I'm doing and want to be involved, and they don't (often) overwhelm me. This is really significant to me because not many people in my life don't just get fed up with my non-normalness and just give up on me at some point.

Like so many others, I like the anime style. I have a tendancy to enjoy anything I can customize which is another contributing factor why I got into dolls in the first place. I love that you can pose DD in a huge number of poses. I'm also somewhat of a shut in so the community overall is really great to hang out with and draws me out to visit with everyone.

Today I learnt there are corsets made for men, and they are amazing

But on to the question, I really like the whole anime aesthetic DDs have. While I don't really watch anime and only read the occasional manga, I just love the stylized look of so many anime and manga characters. And one of the things I love about Pullip, Blythe, BJD and DD are the whole customization factor, you can change the eyes, the hair, and even the hands to whatever you want! An then tiny shoes and clothes you can buy are just icing on the cake. It's not practical for me to own a bunch of heels or lolita dresses, but when it's for my doll it's the most practical thing ever!

Hmmm. I got into DD through SD, and I still have more resin dolls than DD. I think when they came out with Rise Kujikawa was when I really started to love them (probably because of the more realistic faces). They're super-poseable and I don't have to worry if they fall over during a photoshoot. And, they can cosplay!

Not that I don't want to cosplay—I'm hoping to go as Chun Li. There's just other characters that I'd rather not cosplay (like Dizzy from Guilty Gear) that I still want to see in my dolls.

I like Girl/Female dolls, I already collect resin bjds and missed dolls who look like anime-girls. I like anime and I must confess I really like the busts in DD's. I mean..I can't find any big-boobed bjds (with a nice head except for IH-girls) and DD boobs comes in big and nice shaped *_* (AND soft!!)

I'm sorry, I must sound like a pervert and weirdo XD

And also, the EYES! I just LOVE the anime-eyes! All of them! Who doesn't want a sweet little animegirl with big colorful puppyeyes! (and with big boobs)

Haha that's me!

Nothing wrong with liking some boobs sagoslottet. Boobs make the world go 'round! I was also drawn to DD's due to their body styles and shapes. And now that I have quite a few girls, I can now have all shapes and sizes of busts and enjoy each of them for their own special look and style.

Plus.... Peach Pai are AWESOME.

I second this! I definitely poke at our DD boobs way more than my husband does. Most of the time I just use sewing as an excuse just because they are fun to squish. I'm afraid if we ever got the Peach Pai, I'd never stop squishing those things!

I found a new reason I love dollfie dreams. If my cats knock them off the coffee table I don't have to freak out that something probably broke. Yeah squish factor!

That and freaking out my husband. My girls left arm felt looser then her right so I pulled the arm off to check. My poor husband though they were strung and almost had a fit(I used to own resin bjd)!

It was an easy fix. i just tightened one arm and loosened the other a little. It's actually easier to pose her now.

Actually bought mine as an anatomical accurate (somewhat) mannequin to assist me with drawing the female body. Since drawing the legs and arms can be rather difficult at times. I initially wanted a 50cm obitsu since they have are more poseable but after looking the bodies a bit; After so many hours on flickr viewing the DDs, that totally got me hooked on. Since then, no regrets

Yay! You're funny

Now I got my first DD, I have to add this about why I like DDs!

The weight: Omg I knew that they weight less than resin bjds but not that much as I expected! The weight it's a great plus for me since I don't like to carry my previous SD dolls (I'm tiny and weak lol!)

And second thing, the vinyl. Maybe it's wierd to say it but the material feels alive and soft! Compered to resin.

I like the thing about DDs you could build and remove the parts easily!

Last but not least, Squish the boobs!!! * nosebleed *

I really like the anime look for the heads. It makes them look full of life. For some reason realistic looking faces feel off to me. Also, the bodies are soft and easy to pose. It never really was a contest with others dolls it just seemed right.

I started with BJD but didn't like their weight! I also prefer the anime style, they are easy to handle and pose, you can put off parts very easily too.

This is why I like DDs:

- NO stringing like most BJDs

- Anime style

- Cheaper than other BJDs

- Tougher than resin

- Less heavy than resin

- Easier to pose than other BJDs

- Cuter than realistic looking BJDs

- Easier to customize than realistic looking BJDs

- A lots of accessory parts

- Softer than resin

I like DD for their more anime look and the way that you can customize them.

Now that I actually have a DD girl sitting next to me as I write this, I can add that I really love how well they hold poses and stand, while retaining nice aesthetics, the soft and lifelike feel of the vinyl, and how expressive their faces alone can be, especially in person. The many different optional hands is also a plus, compared to resin dolls that are often limited to open hands and gripping hands.

DDs are a lot more "fun" looking and are easier to take care of than BJDs... No stringing and easy posing makes things a lot nicer! I think their aesthetic is also very nice and refreshing, I own multiple BJDs and I tend to go for "serious" looking sculpts so I find DDs kind of put a bit more liveliness into pictures.

Because they're adorable. I love anime, they are lighter (I carried one when my friend came to my house) and best travelling buddies accdg. to my friend, they are nice to pose. Easy to carry.
