why do YOU like DD?

As I reading the topic... I think similarly to the rest of the people here.

For me, what I like the most about the DD, is that they are lighter than the BJD and the *total look* is... more livelier. They looks so cute.

I started to like the aesthetic of the DD

(Yea, I am an Anime fan.)

BTW.

And they smell like "MLP figures" from my childhood XD.

I have always loved figures, and I suppose my love for DD is an extension from that. My favourite part of DDs are that they are totally customizable to be your own character. Not to mention how easy they are to take apart and put together!

I always prefered DDs over normal BJDs because they have more joyful facial expressions, no strings and i prefer the anime style.

Not that there hasnt been any resins that didn't catch my eyes, i saw a couple of interesting ones.

But ya i also prefer to limit myself to one kind of doll. o/

I like how light they are and how easy it is to pose them. I took my girl out yesterday, for the first time, and had no problems with carrying her around all day. I also like that it's easy to replace different parts of her if something were to break or become lost.

Different hands! It's so easy to give her different hands and change them at any time.

I love the anime aesthetic and the long legs. The posing is awesome and none of the kicky leg problems i Have had with my bjds. I like being able to replace parts if needed.

Because they're so darn cute! I really love the anime esthetic. Plus they're great cosplay buddies since they actually look like the characters more than any human can

Plus because they're vinyl, less risk of damage when I do take them to conventions. Except that my Mayu Mayu loses her arm in the *exact same place* every year I take her to CONvergence. Every year outside of that one room party- boop, no arm!

I first got them because modded the 01 head are so cute. But now I love them for how light they are, how well they hold a pose, AND how cute they are!

They're adorable. I especially like the smiling faces. I wanted a large doll to sew for so for a while I considered BJDs but I was never interested enough to spend that much money on one. Then, I got into cosplay (and became a better seamstress) and discovered that even though there were tons of anime outfits I wanted to sew, they weren't necessarily things that I'd enjoy cosplaying. I also really, really like sewing ruffles and it's kind of impractical to make a bunch of human-sized frilly dresses that I'll never wear. Dollfie Dreams are perfect for all the things I want to sew. I've got a small hoard of fabric ready for when Miku comes in. I also collect anime figures, and a DD is like the ultimate one.

Miku was a big issue wrt the cosplaying thing. Got a good Miku wig, was stoked to cosplay a ton of Miku outfits, but eff that wig. That much hair does nothing but tangle and strain your neck. I think my wig weighed something ridiculous like 10lbs? Not much, but awful when it's just your neck supporting it all day and you constantly have to bend down to comb near your ankles. I cosplayed Miku all of two times and was miserable each time lol.

I like that they don't need to be strung and are easy to pose. I also like that the eyes aren't painted on and that they can be customized in many ways.

First, I fell in love with DDs because I love the anime aesthetic and have been collecting figurines for a while. But now, I love my girl for being a beautiful and unique doll with her own personality. I also LOVE photography and taking pictures of her is so much fun!

Before I've got my first DD I've collected Pullips. But then I saw a random pic of a DD during surfing the web and I immediately fall in love with them! I love DD because they're much bigger than Pullips and the bodys can pose so beautiful and I love the soft vinyl in preference to pullips hard plastic bodys. As well their expression is really aesthetic and charming and I love how I can change their looks in so many different ways.

I love them mostly because I really like the stylized anime aesthetic. Most of my resin BJD have very stylized features as well. I love them because they hold poses so well, and because they are so light weight and easy to carry to meets and such. I love the optional hands too. They are just fun dolls to have! The only thing I don't love is how easily they stain.

I've collected anime figures for years, I slowly introduced dolls to my collection. Then one day a friend of mine got DD saber Lily and I was smitten ever since!,

Hehe, I have to jump on the "because they are just so adorable!!" wagon. ^_~

The anime aesthetic can really do super, sugary cute with its big eyes and little noses and mouths. I already like anime, so I had an existing appreciation for the look. And I already collect BJD's so I certainly have an existing appreciation for dolls in this scale, so it was really the adorable little faces that drew me in. ^__^

I love DD's because I grew up watching anime as a kid, and I would always want a big anime looking doll to play with, so dollfie dreams are like a childhood dream come true ^^. I also think DD's are so cute and very photogenic.

I've loved dolls for a few years now so I don't think it was a big jump to DD's.

They are incredibly cute and bring back my love of anime. Although I have never owned one they seem to pose well and weigh less which is a bonus. I think their charm lies in their simple features and happy expressions. They cheer me up when I see them.

May sound cheesy and does not have much to do with DD's themselves, more the owners behind them.

I really like DD's since it's a kind of medium that brings out creativity in people. People want to learn how to sculpt, how to paint and how to sew etc to make items for their precious dolls. They want to be creative and produce things they can be proud of, that alone is a very lovable thing in my eyes.

When I first got into the bjd hobby, I thought DDs' were not my thing. As the years went by, I then I started thinking they were so cute

I like their possibility and they seriously look good with everything!

I had no interest in anime other than watching Sailor Moon as a kid and the Studio Ghibli movies (its a different story now). Ever since I watched Perfect Blue and Monster I became hooked. I can't say I liked or understood the appeal of DD and I used to call them the anime dolls and thought the majority looked the same.

Later KosMos was unveiled and I just thought that her outfit was the most bad ass outfit I had ever seen on a doll. I was too late for the preorder so I purchased one second hand and passed my rights of passage 2 weeks on - stains on the legs and hands everywhere! Lesson learned.

I originally purchased Kosmos for the outfit and was going to sell the doll later but the weight, how sturdy the poses were and just how charming they were in person changed my views on them. They just have the cutest faces and have this appeal - where not everything has to be in scale and "perfect" to look good in photos.
