New eyes for two of my girls

When it comes to eyes, I have not tried to change any on my girls. What they came with was what they have kept.

 

But Mai already had her default eyes swapped out by her previous owner and Mamimi came to me with no eyes since she was just a head. So I had to figure out how to install eyes on my own and rather quickly. At first I used Mai's default eyes in Mamimi so I could see how she was going to look. I then had to wait for her blues to arrive.

 

After doing Mamimi's eyes, I got Jun97's Rei here and her eyes had fallen out of her head inside her box. So I had to reinstall those too. After doing that, I recieved the blues from Otakudepot and had to put those in.

 

So after all this, I think I have the hang of doing eyes now. Which leads me into this post.

 

 

 

A good friend decided to do some customizing recently and sent me 2 sets of eyes to try out on my girls. Please tell me what you guys think of the changes.

 

 

First up, Mamimi:

 

 

 

These are modeled after the 22mm Animetics but are a different shade of blue than Volks.

 

 

While I like how Mamimi looks, I still can't get over how Mai has changed. I am so in love with her right now...

 

 

 

 

So how is THAT for green? These are 22mm as well but a custom color variant of the Animetics.

 

 

What do yall think of the changes?

Those eyes are gorgeous! They remind me of the Volks I-Type, only... well, brighter but also less blown-out. The I-Type seem to look a bit weird often, but these ones are somehow both more vivid but also more subtle! Your friend did a great job! I'd love to see a purple set like these. ^^

 

And they look great on your girls, Mai in particular is just stunning. That color suits her so well.

Mamimi looks quite nice with her blue eyes as well. And you just casually gave her a Ryomou daki! Where'd you get that?

Thanks! The eye colors themselves are printed on glossy photopaper and the clear lenses that get glued on over them cause that high reflection rate and make them really shine. The bad news is that at certain angles, the color seems to fade out of the eyes and it looks almost clear. I'll have to take more pics today while I am out at the doll meet and see how bad it looks.

 

I agree about Mai! She is just gorgeous now! I'm super happy with how she looks now.

As for the dakimakura.... our own Jun97 made it for me! I actually got two of them from him. He even makes them with pillows that go inside the cover in case something gets dirty on it. I just emailed him images I wanted on the pillows and he made them. PM him if you want some of these, I got them for a really good price!

Those eyes are really cute! Mamimi looks great with those beatiful blue eyes, but Mai seems a bit weird... Maybe because I haven't seen her face with light-coloured eyes, but I don't think those fits her ^^' just my opinion!

Ilvias, I think you'll see that Mai looks better out in natural light with these eyes. I am now uploading about 170 pics to Flickr that I took yesterday at a doll meet we had at Brookgreen Gardens. Most of Mai's pics turned out extremely good. I'll start a post on that later today.

I have always wanted a blue eyed girl but for some reason was never able to obtain one. It seemed I was destined to have red eyed girls join my family!

 

But since Mamimi was going to be a custom, I knew she had to have blue eyes. As for those green eyes, I had originally thought about putting them in Yoko. But since Yoko has her default eyes and I know Volks glue is a royal pain to remove, I decided to see how Mai looked with them first.

 

And now Mai is a green eyed girl permanently.

 

 

 

I'll try and get some pics up soon of these two out in the sunshine so you can see these eyes in all their glory.

That's so funny, because a lot of my girls have blue eyes! So much so that I am swapping out Nellis' because I want something new XD Blue eyes do stand out a lot on DDs though, they look so vivid!

I love the green eyes! They're both beautiful, but I really love the green ones!!!
