What age do you consider your DD girls to be?

I saw this discussion recently on a blog I frequent, and it made me wonder:

 

How old are your girls?

 

Do you have just a vague concept of their age range, or do your girls have specific ages?

 

Why did you choose those ages? What factors about your doll make you feel they are that age?

Sort of half jesting at this, but its the old question of anyones age: actual, or mental age?

My girls have specific ages picked. It's based on the size of their body, the maturity of their face, and also their personality to an extent.

 

-Ayano is 21 years old. She is on a DDDy body and her face up and typical hairstyle give her a classic lady appearance. Her character is that she is a calm and mature lady who's a bit shy around others but loves who she's close to, and because of her body, is sexy but she doesn't know it

 

-Mitsuki is 10 years old. She is on an MDD body, so she definitely looks immature.But her personality is, although cutesy, still that of a small person rather than a child. She may use her cuteness to manipulate others, but she knows full well what she's doing. So she's at the oldest I felt she could be for her body without being stunted.

 

-Akira is to me 14 years old. Although she has a small bust and her legs are shorter, her body proportions are such that one more good growth spurt will put her at the size of a full grown adult. To some a DDS may just be a shorter girl, and I may use them as such in the future. But my Akira is Mitsuki's best friend, so I put them closer in age.

 

-Kotone is 17 years old. She hasn't worked out all of her personality yet other than that she's a city girl who loves fashion. She's on a DDIII L-bust body, but as an 06 head she has a bit of an immature face. So therefore she is still an innocent high school girl

 

So yeah, partly body type, partly character for me

Why not tell us both? It would be interesting to know if you consider one 21 years old, but 76 years old mentally, or 34 years old, but 8 mentally.

Hrm... it depends.

 

Milly/Yoko/Alma/Rise are all high school (Junior/Senior/early college) ages. So a range really of between 16-19 years. If I'd gotten Alma on a DDdy though I'd probably have made her around 22-24. I think it's because I feel it captures the DDs mix of body type the best. Or, when a lot of women will float between dressing a little younger or a little older than they are. They also are more likely to be a little "whimsical" in the design choices. I view the age progression as: Rise

 

In terms of my MDDs. Cirno and Emmie are 8 or 9. If one of them had an mdd m-bust that one would bump up to 10/11.

My guesses:

Kaori: Age 21

Alna: Age 20

Alicia: Age 18

Saber: Age 17

Floating Head: Age ??

 

I got Kaori 1st so she's the oldest, following Alna, then Alicia and finally Saber. As for the floating head, she doesn't have a body so she's ageless.

This should be a fun topic.

Azumi is 18 years old and Renata is 16. Azumi has just gotten out of high school and Renata is just a cute, quiet teen. She's still in school.

Agatha is 18 years old physically. Her mental state, however, is so far out of the norm that trying to ascribe an age to it is a recipe for a headache. If I were to label the extremes, I'd say on the young end of illogical Spark mode she'd mentally be 10, but on her cynical end she's more like a 38-year-old in a midlife crisis.

 

Nanoha is physically 19 or 20, but given how often she's had to save the world her mental age is more like late 20's, early 30's. She takes her job pretty seriously, and does give quite a bit of thought to repercussions of her actions, but is fundamentally an optimist at heart, which is why her mental age isn't higher.

 

Pancake is perpetually in his terrible twos, both physically and mentally.

I generally see Yuriko as somewhere between 18-21, but sometimes her personality can go from 15-25. She refuses to give me a specific number, but she assures me that whatever the legal drinking age is wherever she happens to be, she's just barely older than that.

Tamayuki is in seventh grade, but he's pretty darn close to how innocent I was at that age (aka completely clueless.) If he wasn't short he would actually be taller than Rainie if she was in an MDD body, one of those skinny lanky boys. Occasionally I have a bit of a challenge not wanting to dump him in the "dumb blond" category because the innocence is his strongest trait. Because of this sometimes I wonder if he has the tendency to think and see the world on the level of a five year old. He's just too naive for his own good. Dolly on the other hand is very much a regular 15 yr old guy and has a pretty good grasp of what's going on around him. Tama has surprised Dolly more than once on his level of cluelessness, leaving Dolly a bit baffled at how Tama just really misses the point even when it is clearly explained.

 

Rainie is in eighth grade and is a bundle of energetic silliness. To her all of life is just the grandest adventure waiting to happen.

 

Naiomi is in the 15-16 range, old enough to talk to on a more adult level but not so grown up that she doesn't need her Mama so much. She will never age a day older than that if I have my choice... and I do!

I can't imagine Yuriko to be any older than 22 but occasionally seems barely older than 18. One thing I am curious about is if she is in that age range, why is she still living at home? (story wise)

Apparently I'm getting senile in my old age as I only now connected these girl's names to the characters. I should have at least recognized Hazuki right away, since Moon Phase is one of the few anime I loved enough to buy the dvds of, as well as the first few of the manga (so far).

Chandra, my DDII, is in her early twenties. I like to think she is doing college part time and works part time in a store, and is very independent. Meade, my DDdy, is either late 20s or just over 30. In my head she works at the same store as Chandra in a more senior position, or maybe in the same Mall/Shopping complex. My two new DD heads (03 and 04) will be physically in their mid-late twenties.

 

I have younger dolls, just not Volks

I created small "biographies" for my girls, and they are all currently college students in my mind... I will probably never age them past that, though.

 

To be more specific, I see Ai (DD Moe) as a college sophomore, so I see her as 21-22 years old. I see Kareha (DDS Ms. Mariko) as a college freshman which would equal about 18-19 years old. And then Minako (DDdy Sasara) is a college junior, so I imagine her to be around 22-23 years old.

 

Even though I implemented their progression in college into their biographies, I don't really implement anything about college with them... Although one day I might!

Ravendruid l understand. Moka is from the anime rose+vampire (I don't think l spelled that right) l found this anime on youtub and liked it.

I never really gave this much thought, but I think most of my girls range in age from about 17-late 20's with my MDD's being like 8-10. There's so many of them but I think I can summarize it (these girls tend to act their age or slightly mature)

 

Elle: 28

Saber: 25

Yoko: 24

Alna: 27

Maya: 10

Amber: 17

Odette: 22

Asuka: 15/16 (we'll keep her at her anime age i guess!)

Yuki: 24

Rei: 15/16

Madeleine: 18

Juno: 26

Cirno: 8

Nia: 20

unnamed Aoi version 2: 26

Aoi and Aya are about 21 or 22. Ai, being a clone, isn't really that old, but since she has Aoi's memories, she acts and is treated as being the same age.

 

Natsuki is about the same age as Aoi and Aya, they went to high school together.

 

Sakura, Yui, and Haruhi are around 17-18. They are more or less the same characters as in their respective anime, just slightly older.

 

Mari is 16-17 years old. She tends to act younger in social situations, but she's obviously a genius when it comes to genetic engineering and robotics.

 

Kokoro is about the same age as Mari, at least in kitsune years, but is around 100 in human years.

 

Mayumi is 23, befitting her DDdy body. I guess she's the normal one of my girls.

 

Kanu is 22. Well, really she's a clone too, but I've always felt Kanu looked like she was in her early 20's, and was just undercover as a high school student to guard Ryuubi.

 

Louise is around 13, just short. Kudo is 11.

 

Airy is 18. She's studying abroad, and came here to keep an eye on her little sister, Kudo.

 

Saber is 26, but she tends to act younger, more around 16.

 

I don't know about Lucy yet.

my MDDs are around roughly 12-14 years old in my mind, both of them. i think of them as preteen girls, childish with quirky personalities, one is more innocent and carefree while her counterpart is angsty and troubled. they represent the transition between child to teenager i guess.

 

i have 2 Rei Ayanami DDs, Rei and "Meido", i imagine them as being closer to 16-18 than Rei's canon age in the anime (Gainax cannot into what actual 14 year olds really look like, and those few years make a world of difference imo).... oh, speaking of 14 year old girls invented by Gainax, i also have Nia Teppelin who shares that "canon" age but again i would say she is about 16ish at least in my eyes. her face is more childish and less mature than Rei and Meido, even if they have the same height and similar/same bodies.

 

my final DD i own is Saya who is a Marya Angels Story DD... i imagine her as being the eldest at around 18 to 19 years old.

 

interestingly i don't have any dolls (DD or offtopic) i consider to be older than me (early 20s) but i think that's because part of the reason i like collecting dolls is they are therapeutic - i had a very unpleasant time growing up between the ages of 10-19 so i like to be able to "think about it" or deal with my issues by writing about and taking photos of my girls, and obviously if they are in that age range i "relate" to the stories i make up for them on some level.

My girls are aged 15 to 29!!!!

I think Aya is around 17years. She is a highschool girl. Aya is a j-rock fan and likes to watch anime )

Alna and Pidge (Mariko) are 22.

 

Jun (Rise) is 18.

 

I had thought a lot about making Alna older than Pidge... but when I look at them in photographs together, it seems like Alna and Pidge could be the same age, while Jun is the young'un:

 

 

And since Alna is supposed to be an Idol singer, I didn't want to make her too old... but admittedly, I have no idea what the average age of a Japanese Idol Singer is, LOL!! All I have is the suspicion that most of them have a short shelf life... so I made her and Pidge 24 instead of 28.

Oddly enuff, I've never given any thoughts to the ages of my girls. I know I have in depth origin stories and such for each of them but I really haven't thought they were any set age. I have a few that are definitely older than others but I can't really assign numbers to them.

 

If pressed, I can say this....

 

Manami is my oldest girl with Rei, Yoko, Mai and Ryomou right behind her. So maybe early to mid 20's?

 

Sprout, Mamimi and Elisabeth are my youngest girls. I'd guess they're all around the same "age".

 

Everyone else kind of falls between these two groups with Miyuki being just a bit younger than the first group but older than the second.

 

I guess for a few small exceptions, I see most of my girls age range according to how they arrived. At least thats how they treat each other day to day and in stories.

I'm the same as Baldy above, I don't really think about their age much in terms of human years. If anything I think of their ages as how long I've had them, sort of "dog years" with a different upper limit, if you will. Now that I have more, it is a combination of that, and relative age, so I guess not all of my girls follow a similar time scale anyway.

I did just view them in order of when they arrived. But since I've pretty much made the decsion that Sara will always be viewed as the youngest even though she was 2nd to arrive I can pretty much now put an age on my girls. Also where I've owned all my girls expect 1 for a whole year now I have a better feel for their personality and how they rank within the family.

 

It is a given that Allison will always be my oldest girl. Her lovely mature face easily puts her as the oldest and a mother type figure to the other girls.

 

It was kinda hard to pick who comes after Allison. Yoko and Rina tend to be about the same in my eyes. Especially now that Rina has had her much needed makeover. But Yoko still to me is second oldest even though she was the last girl to arrive. I really think the mature type nature that comes with a Dddy body helps her fill that role.

 

Then of course Rina was a must after Yoko. Out of all my DD2 girls Rina looks the most mature now.

 

Yuki of course follows Rina by just being a few years younger and then Sakura comes after Yuki.

 

And it is super easy to assume that Sara is my youngest. It's hard to explain, but it just feels right having it that way. She is such a sweet girl and child like in nature she easily fills the role of being the baby of the family. =3
