How do you wash clothes with chain designs?

Recommended Posts

aiRreyes

I just thought about washing the top of the Stylish Tartan Set because I have noticed that its getting into

dirty white instead of white (assuming white is the real color of it) and it has some little chain design with a

cross on the arm area. I'm too scared to wash it because the chain might have some stain into the clothing?

What should I do then? >.<

If you can take off the chain, that would be best.

You can wash it by hand. But I just wash mine with a washing machine and let them air dry. Put the top in a lingerie bag (for your delicate). One bag for each item if they have chains or other little accessories. Set your machine for delicate items and wash with cold water. When it's done, take them out and let them air dry on a rack. Iron if needed on low heat.

I see then though the chain is sewn on the top >.< do you use detergent powder or maybe just some hand soap would do?

I use a bit of detergent sometimes. You have to be careful around black fabrics, I heard it might make the item a bit lighter. If you are really worried about that, just go with the cold water wash. A little detergent won't hurt it.

Another thing you should also do is take a napkin or paper towel and dry the chains completely right after the clothes have been washed. Even a little bit of water might make them rust depending on the metal content and how thick or not the coating is.

Just my two cents.

I'm just curious why you needed to wash them?

It's not like dolls get sweaty and gross - LOL

I've only ever had a dolly laundry emergency when Serena fell over into some dirt outside wearing a white outfit! >__<" Her skirt was fine, but her top got some mud smears on it.

I panicked and did a tiny load of laundry in my machine on the "super delicate" cycle, cold water and a bit of detergent but the stain was still visible so I treated it afterward with a stain-remover pen and that got it out. It looks brand new and perfect again!

Ah, I am so stupid. How could I forget to tell you about this >^

So, silver doesn't really rust, they tarnish. It's just this natural process that happened if you leave them out in oxygen and moister. You can easily fix that with some baking soda and hot water. Just get one of those aluminum trays that you normally get takeout or food in, put in some baking soda and hot water and throw in your chains/ jewelries. Let them soak and use a toothbrush and brush over them.

I do this with my earrings and necklaces, works like a charm. Just make sure you don't wait until they are completely brown or else this won't work.

Just a care tip in case they do tarnish with washing (you will most likely get that with time anyways). Now you can wash your chains in peace XD

Ohh yes, you can wash like this and put the top in "lingerie" bag.

Yes I have read it in some forum that lingerie bag can be used as protective cover while washing clothes. It seems effective
