Hi, I'm from the UK and I've been stalking this forum for a couple of weeks now because I was too shy to join, but I decided too because I'd love to be part of a DD Community!

I haven't bought a DD yet, but I've just got myself a job and now I can't wait to find one. I'm currently looking to find a DD head and by a body separately because it is better for my bank account, although I don't know if I should buy a pre-owned head from YJA or a blank one from the Volks USA website and have it shipped through Shopping Mall Japan...

...although I would have to pay someone to do a faceup for me...

Anyway, please excuse my shyness and noobature, and if you could in anyway help me, I'll be forever grateful!

I can't wait to be a part of the community, everything and everyone here seems so nice!

Byee!

There are places other than YJ & ebay. Check Mandarake & "Entertainment Hobby Shop Jungle" . Both deal in used items, but occasionally you'll find new items at market prices. They will ship direct, so no agent or third party fees. You'll also want to bookmark a language translator page to interpret some of the listing info from Mandarake. Although you can search in English, it's still at least 50% Japanese in their descriptions. Mandarake will occasionally have heads & bodies if you want to go that route. I bought a SD16 from Mandarake and asked them to ship the least expensive of EMS or DHL. DHL was cheaper by far, and I had it in my hands in 4 days.

I also just bought an SD16 from Jungle and was surprised to learn that they charge a 5% "handling fee" which is probably stipulated somewhere on their site. I had bought a figure before, but hadn't noticed a fee then. Anyway, if you must have a particular doll, I think these two are worth monitoring as stuff shows up unexpectedly. Also note that Jungle doesn't have a DHL option, but they do have some shipping options during checkout that might help you get through customs easier. And both have phone contacts. ( I've called Mandarake before. Ask for English and they'll transfer you to someone who can help you.)

Good luck with your hunt whatever you choose!

Yeah, I had a look at Mandarake but I found that YJA was cheaper ^^/

I'll check out the Jungle Hobby Shop though and hopefully I'll find something there, but thank you for the suggestions and info about EMS and DHL!

Thank you so much!

I personally like Mandarake over Jungle, I've dealt with both. Maybe getting a blank head from Volks USA or Volks International would be a good idea for the first DD? My first two were blank option heads, they are off getting painted as we speak.

Other ideas... Find a cheap prepainted head from someone on the forum, I wouldnt go eBay though, there are too many selling at top prices.

Nice to meet you, my girls say

haha, I figured that maybe if I buy a full set it would be better for my first dollfie so then I don't have to mess around with getting it sent off, but I will definitely be buying a head from Volks in the future

(I plan to modify it to make a boy)

oooh, so if people are selling they would post in the vendor thing, right?

Sorry, I'm so new here it hurts

Thanks!

And aww, nice to meet you too!

If I had a girl, mine would be saying that to you and your girls, but it might have to be a delayed introduction >//w//<
