SisterKyoya Posted August 22, 2012 Tamayuki: "Can you believe it? Mommy made me a boy's shirt!" He has been in this state of shock for the last three days while I worked on his shirt. It is from a pattern I have been drafting in Illustrator and even though it needs some very minor alterations, I was really surprised that there wasn't any errors. The puckering on the bottom hem is due to using too short of a stitch length, but since I was just testing my pattern it's not a big deal. Sewing with jersey is not my strong point because it likes to shift too much. The biggest thing I'm happy about is that I'm getting some basic patterns drafted for Tama-chan that will lead to the clothes that I originally wanted to make for him, some of which were bleepens-esque. The other great thing is that his shirt was made from a regular shirt that coudn't be worn anymore due to some holes in the sleeves. Does that make it a shirt shirt? He just looks so adorable! I never would of thought to put him in a turtleneck but it just kinds turned out that way and he will have something warm to wear this winter! ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
baldylox Posted August 23, 2012 Haha, Tama-kun cracks me up sometimes. Oddly enuff, a lot of my girls wear "boy shirts" and they love them. So I guess it stands to reason Tama-kun would enjoy one too. He looks good in it for sure. And he really looks great with a faceup! It's nice to see him look even more lively than before. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Ravendruid Posted August 23, 2012 It turned out really well! The color looks great on him, too. I'd love to see some pics of him with that shirt and his shoes, (and some pants). I imagine it wouldn't be too big an ordeal to make some alterations to the collar so it's more of a t-shirt and less a turtleneck. I'd love to try making this or a variant for Yuriko. Billy Poor guy has been subjected to wearing a bunch of girl's clothes and I had to specifically tell him that yes that it was actually a boy's shirt. He is the only MDD we have and I needed help with a blog tutorial for skirts I'm close to finishing, so by default he was elected. I started it before I had tried Rainie's DDS head on the MDD so I didn't want to switch partially through, although the last few photos I needed to take were done after his and Dolly's faceups were completed. I really feel like his simple shirt is an accomplishment since drafting boys clothes makes much less sense to me than girls dresses. Now at least having something close to what I wanted I can take it and tweak the pattern to really get what I want. Before I didn't feel like I had a baseline to work from when Dolly's pants came out so badly when they were adapted from a pattern for a completely different sized doll (just as short but 3x as wide). The next two drafting projects are a button up shirt and pants with an elastic waist so I can finally make Tama-chan's pajamas from the fabric I bought him six months ago. I had so many plans this summer but the heat has more brutal than I have ever had to deal with, and today it was actually cold. The down side of that is at least a few people in the neighborhood used their fireplaces and now I have a migraine that feels like someone slammed an ax halfway through my head because of the smoke. I have such a retarded set of allergies. I am very happy that now everyone else can see how happy of a boy he is without having to squint and imagine it. It turned out really well! The color looks great on him, too. I'd love to see some pics of him with that shirt and his shoes, (and some pants). I'm sure I'll get around to the picture with him in all his new clothes once I get some pants done. For the T-shirt it would be easy to do by shortening the collar and sewing it on differently. I asked Tama-chan if Yuriko could try on his shirt real quick so I could see how it fit and he was adamant that she was not going to wear it since she's not a boy. His defensiveness is understandable because Yuriko has gotten a lot more new clothes than he has, even though most were skirts and hardly any tops. I can take a couple if her measurements (to alter the length) and adjust the pattern and have you test it out because I would like to know how this would fit on the DD. It also might help me get the sewing instructions written down. I could have you do a step-by-step picture of the process since I'd guess she'd want more than one new shirt and I'm obviously not up to it. Some stuff for Yuriko is planned as well but I really want to make sure Tamayuki has a full outfit and his PJs done before fall quarter starts. *patiently waits until Rainie and Naiomi can have their own bodies before working on their clothes as well* ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
