Anyone ever contact Volks stores in Japan?

Have a friend in Japan - and I was just wondering if an item is listed as out on the volks.jp website... is there any possibility that they'd have the items in any of the stores?

 

People have mentioned giving say the US location a call.. and surely there's more than one Volks store in Japan? Or is that just a silly/body-starved girl's imagination running wild? (B/c seriously! I could get a WS DDIII from volks.co.jp... but they're of course missing the internal torso frame!! /cry /cry #firstworldproblems)

Yes, if something is listed as OOS on the main Volks website, there could be some in stores. And there is more than one Volks store in Japan. They are all over the Tokyo area and in other cities as well like Osaka.

 

But the part you are needed was never sold separately so no matter where you look, Volks won't have one. You'll have to check YJA for parts auctions or buy another MDD body for it. Or make your own.

Says 'waiting restock' right now - but it was listed with all the other DDIII parts that are (for WS anyway) in stock. just that one bit.. (which I think is the only part left to complete a body).. it eludes me... XD

Raven pointed out to me the other day that if you cannot see the internal frame, why do they have a WS version? Maybe because obsessive compulsive people like me would go batty if they didn't?

Yes, the upper torso DDS/DD3/DDDy3 White Skin version part WAS indeed in stock for about 30 seconds after 10am JST when the event started. I barely managed an entire body, I had to in fact get the arms in a 2nd order (yay poor volks customer service for not combining orders), and the default hands from some generous person on the forums here.

 

They did not however restock the NS DDS upper torso frame as I predicted, because I saw the post someone made earlier about volks saying they would not be restocking DDS NS parts, and because the torso frame was listed under DDS....well, I figured they'd do something that retarded like not stock the core component of 3 main systems. Might have given me the few extra seconds to get the WS version (for which I am still mystified why they made that when you don't even see the part on a completed DD).

 

As for the original question, YES, in-store stock is different entirely from the website stock (why else would they have stopped allowing orders while they moved the warehouse a few weeks ago?). I can also confirm that from having just been in Japan in May and noticing said discrepancies with outfits and such. I can't vouch for them having the upper torso piece, and I doubt they'd look for you anyway, AND I'm sure that obsessive collectors probably stormed all the stores @ opening time, but I went to something like 7 volks stores in Japan (Akiba, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Osaka Den Den Town, Hiroshima, Kyoto Main store) and not one had that part, with the clerk in Kyoto knowing enough English to tell me, at the very least, all of Western Japan was out of stock of that particular item.

 

Personally, if your character can handle it, and you want something more akin to DDS or MDD size, get a parabox40 body or obitsu50 body. They're more poseable, cheaper, not addicted to crack, and nearly always in stock (or get restocked within 2 weeks, not this 8+ month crap volks is pulling). 2 of my 3 customs in progress are using obitsu50 bodies, and IMO, as long as you're using a DD head, its a DD irregardless of body choice.

I had to re-read the original post at least twice before I got it. Couldn't figure out what drugs had to do with DD...

Well, in a lot of ways DDs aren't much better than drugs, you start with a "normal" priced one most of the time (Mio, Milihi, etc.) then you start moving onto the more expensive ones (Saber, Yuki, Tamaki, Sasara) until you notice your bank account is small, and you're obsessively buying your girls clothes :p

ehehehehe yeah if the obitsus just had cuter leg/arm joints. Really not like I have to get a DDIII - just it was the only thing that looked even remotely possible at the moment - I'd be totally ok with a DDII or something, or maybe a DDS -- but really want a White Skin one and I guess thats only in DDII/DDIII. Maybe just b/c I'd like to have each doll be different (since they're kinda 'spensive... lol)

Also, the joints arent ugly when they're usually covered up with clothes anyway, and even then, if joints were enough to put you off, you probably wouldn't even have wanted to get one at all :3

 

They do make guys, they're called SDs :p Just not in vinyl xD

All upper torso frame pieces for all DD varieties are out of stock in store too. At least, they are in Tachikawa, Shinjuku, and Akihabara stores.

Keep checking. I just scored a NS internal frame, the last one by the looks of it (now listed as sold out, and I tried to order two but was not allowed). This was Sept 4th around 8pm.

 

It's confirmed by email, so I assume that means I got it! I hope it doesn't break, that would be horribly disappointing given that I've bought it to replace a broken piece. I would have liked to have gotten a spare, or order an extra for someone here who needs it, but I'm happy to have gotten one.
