Staining treatment

Recommended Posts

rukitron

So I recently noticed a weird red stain on my Saber Extra's leg, I have kept her away from dark colored clothing, so not sure what she was exposed to. I have been using the pimple cream treatment for the past two days and I'm not sure if it's really working. This is making me feel uneasy, I worry I might have to resort to remov-zit as I never had a stain that would not come off this long. Should I give the cream treatment another 2-3 days or consider ordering some remov-zit?

Remove zit and your going to need formula 9-1-1 to get the remove zit off. This stuff is made for vinyl so l would buy it for this promble.

Just wish that option wasn't so pricy, really hoping it doesn't come down to that, just to clean a small stain.

If you are using the Oxy10 or similar ointment on the stain, are you also putting it under a warm light? Without heat, the benzoyl peroxide doesn't work nearly as quickly. All you need is a strong desklamp or something similar to put over the affected area that is covered in the ointment. This will speed up the reaction with the vinyl and make the stain come out much faster. If you don't have a light, you can sit your Saber in a window in the sun, it will have the same effect. This is how I do all my stain treatments and it works every time.

It's so freakin hot here, I've been putting her leg wrapped in a towel in my car with the trouble area exposed with target brand pimple cream and wrapped in plastic wrap. I started this treatment yesterday.

If it's hot outside, i wouldn't be leaving her in your car to get even hotter. All you have to do is have her in a window so the sun hits the affected area and you'll be fine. Is that creme a white color or is it brown? I have found the brown versions don't work nearly as well as the white ones do.

When I treat my girls under the heat lamp, it usually takes 2-3 treatments of 6-8 hours each to get the stain completely gone and that's *IF* the stain wasn't big and dark. If it's a darker stain, it will take more treatments than that. I had my Yoko under treatment for over 2 weeks... that was daily treatments of 6-8 hours EVERY DAY. That finally got all her stains gone. It takes time with the Benzoyl peroxide method but there's no damage to the vinyl this way. I fear the damage that Remove Zit can cause even if it doesn't happen every time.

should be moved to repair tips @_@

also it's white.

I thought it was heat that fixed it... now I'm confused.

Heat is what helps activate it for sure. But light also seems to help, at least from what I have seen. I just figured it was less work to have her inside than leaving her in your car.

Hey Rukitron I'm really agreeing with Baldylox on not keeping Saber's stained leg in your car. The heat inside a car rises incredibly fast. So much heat could potentially damage the vinyl. If the heat inside a closed car is dangerous for pets & children well then it is certainly not very good for vinyl ^^;;;

"A car’s inside temperature can increase as much as 40 degrees in an hour — with 80 percent of that increase within the first 30 minutes. On an 85-degree day, the temperature inside a car with the windows cracked slightly can reach 102 degrees within 10 minutes!" -nbcnews.com

Heat will help activate the benzoyl peroxide in the Oxy10 cream. Lamps give off heat thus it's a good option if you don't want to just leave the stained part on a window or desk with the sunlight shining on it. Plus with a lamp you can use it anytime of day. There's already a great stain removal thread by SakuraSylph in the "Care and Repairs" section. Here is the link:

If you want to use Remove-zit that will also require several treatments. Be careful when using this as I've heard that if you get any of the remove-zit on the hard plastic joints of your DD it could yellow the joints. Wolfheinrich has a blog entry about using this on a stained bust. Here is the link:

Do hope you're able to get the stain off

Well not like I left the thing covered in tin foil, but I'll discontinue that method, for safety sake.

>_< I hope nothing bad happened.

still the same, can't tell if there was fading or anything.

Well staining treatments do take time and depending on how deep the stain is in the vinyl it could take several treatments before you see results. Just follow SakuraSylph's guide and be patient

Is the stain very big? If you have time you should snap a photo of the affected area since you've got me wondering how it looks.

nah kinda small, light pinkish red (no idea what she was exposed to).

Months ago when I barely had Momoko she had a small pink/red spot on the back of each leg. I was very sure they came from the pink/red sofa that I bought from Volks since at the time that was the only thing I had her sitting on. But they were so small that I didn't bother treating them and eventually the stains disappeared. And actually she hasn't gotten anymore stains from the sofa~ So should the stain on your Saber not come out through treatments you could always wait it out.

You don't NEED the Formula 9-1-1-.

RemoveZit is oil soluble so you can use baby oil to take the RZ, then thoroughly wash the vinyl pieces in gentle soap and water to remove the oil residue.

My method of choice is actually to use cleansing oil (it's a type of face wash) that's designed to emulsify nicely in water, rinses away the RZ and 90% of the oil and then I just follow up with soap and water to remove any trace of oil residue. I discovered this randomly since I didn't have baby oil at home, but did have cleansing oil for when I wear waterproof makeup!

I think it's slowly starting to fade, but it's still taking quite a while...

Q_Q I hope everything turns out okay.

What do you all advice for "normal" stainings from clothes? Not very dark.

Remove zit + formula .. 911? (or something, dun remember the name lol)

Or Oxy 101 ?

Thanks

If you have access to Oxy/benzoyl peroxide, I'd say go for that just because it's cheaper. If you use the lamp method, it's pretty much just as fast as Remove Zit. Remove Zit, if the batch is bad (happens only rarely, but still), can also damage vinyl.

Are you ready to rock? ^_^

the pimple cream I used has removed stains in the past rather quickly, but for some weird reason this one is extremely stubborn.

really hard to tell if there's any progress... That pimple cream just dries up and I put a new batch each day.

Oh that doesn't look so bad. Looks very similar to the 2 spots that Momoko had on the back of her legs which disappeared weeks later without any treatment done. Try not to stress out too much while trying to get it out!

@_@ I won't, I've been patient, I think it's been fading. Just sad Saber has to be gimpy for so long.
