I recieved an email from Volks saying they just send out my kos-mos with 2 gatling gun this morning.

And then when I arrived at my work and settle down. The postman arrived with my kos-mos & 2 gatling guns....Talk about arkward.

 

109 € taxes so that was pretty good luck.

 

 

Too bad I didn't have any cash money with me since I had to buy 15 cakes to hand out this morning for my birthday treats for my work...or else I would have got kos-mos taking home with me today at my birthday instead tomorrow

That's no sense and soooo stressful

Canada Customs is pretty reliable, they just charge the normal sales tax rate on the declared value. Although I've noticed that since the dollar has been at par with the USD (like five years) they often just skip charging customs on packages, kind of randomly. Either that or I just import so much stuff that they've gotten sick of doing paperwork for me. I didn't have to pay anything for my Sakuya ^^

 

The only thing that's not reliable is UPS. On TOP of customs, they charge their own brokerage fees, which are random, and very high. They have a rate table on their web site saying what the fees should be, but that's BS, they charge whatever they want or you don't get the package. FedEx on the other hand charges reasonable fees, and it's not based on the declared value (why does UPS invent a tax???).

Yeah, this is why I don't want to order from Volks USA again I ordered doll parts and got charged $100 in brokerage fees. Shipping for small items is so expensive, and ordering something big means more crazy fees.

 

I'm hoping I won't get charged customs fees when I get my Lucy from Volks international *crosses fingers* Everything expensive I've ordered from asia have been underdeclared so far, so I haven't been charged for anything yet (even doll companies like Luts underdeclare for you)

Actually, I mentioned this in another thread, but Volks USA has stopped using UPS because of that. Now they only do USPS (postal service) EMI to Canada, which unfortunately is at least $40. I actually mailed them asking if they had any other shipping options than USPS EMI, and they told me brokerage fees are why they stopped using UPS.

I'm not totally familiar with the difference between UPS and USPS, just that one of them is worse, I guess.

Oh, USPS is literally United States Postal Service, like Canada Post. UPS is United Parcel Service, a commercial company like FedEx.

Interesting. Question though is if it's in the original Kosmos design or a result of how Volks decided to manufacture the part.

 

Edit: Haven't received my Kosmos yet so I can't check but does that "seamline" go all the way around the hand or is just on top near the knuckles? Just thinking outside the box here but is it perhaps possible to split the hand in two parts? They said something about the knife; maybe the fingers have to be removed to hold the knife.

The seam goes all the way around the hand and seemed more noticeable to me in person than the photos I've seen. I haven't tried pulling it apart since her default outfit has been in her box since I put it back after opening her package originally.

 

If you look in Kos-Mos' manual the seams are on that hand, step 7- it is the hand on the far left in the box of all 4. in the end however, it just looks like Volks did a sloppy job. So it seems that it is totally intentional on Volk's part, even though no one can figure out why...

 

Did anyone ever have a conclusion as to why there is the separate sheet of decals? Personally it is just reaffirming that Shion might be OCD about putting her name all over things. Shion- putting first dibs on the universe!

not sure why there is extra decal sheet. maybe to reapply smudged ones? i mean at first glance it seems she is all decaled up

The extra decal sheet could also be for dollfie dream collectors who're also modelers whom may be tempted to touch up/modify her armor to make it perfect ie get rid of seams, sprues, flash, & refinish.

Got Kos-Mos and Momo home yesterday, and I had to pay the usuall 25% import rax *sigh* (just about 2900nok/360€/490$)

Durandal is defintely cool, but there is something special about the Elsa. Maybe it is Tony and Capt Matthews.

His and hers actually...lol. As a proud dollieh-daddy to almost 40 girls (combination of Volks DD/DDDy, Volks/Obitsu hybrids and Obitsu 60/50), I very happily claim one set for me. The character KOS-MOS has been instrumental in getting me into collecting these beautiful girls in the first place, so there was no way on this earth I could pass up the chance to have a 1/3 scale KOS-MOS and MOMO come home to me. All I need now is a Volks original Shion Uzuki and I will be an extremely happy collector.
