Thank you for that link! Since I've never seen any of this aside from the preorder girls, it was really cool to see the "live" Kos-Mos. There is just a certain gentleness about her face that I think Volks captured really well. Oh man I feel so lucky to be able to preorder her, otherwise I'm afraid she would turn into a painfully illusive unicorn. I love her so much that she makes my heart ache.

Just cancelled my KosMos+Vulcan set to chase after some unicorns. I'm getting MOMO though.

I'm actually slowly liking KOS-MOS more over time. That lighter blue wig is closer to the color her hair should be. It shouldn't be that brighter blue that she is wearing in the official pics and that I saw in person at the Dolpa.

 

I haven't pre-ordered one yet, but if they keep up these good revisions, I might actually pre-order one before the deadline.

That said, you might be better off ordering from the international site actually. I don't know what's going to happen to the yen in a year's time, but the Liberal Democratic Party won the Japanese elections last week in a landslide victory to put them back in power. The previous party believed in keeping the yen strong, which is why it's been in the dumps the last 3 years. But the LDP has a full head of steam working on weakening it (and has given ultimatums to the central Bank of Japan) in order to make exports more competitive again. In just the past 7 days, the yen has gone from JPY80 to JPY84 per dollar. By the time Volks International charges your credit card next year, you could end up paying far less for MOMO than the fixed-price from VolksUSA.

 

Food for thought.

KOS is a heartbreaker in that red wig

I think it's partially a function of the camera angle. It seems higher angles really flatter her face and the red is taken from the highest position.

Oh gosh! She look so much different with a high angle shot.

Might not be a bad idea to cancel & go for JP import instead if you're going for her assuming the trend in the exchange rate continues through next fall. Over 100yen to the dollar would be great. If it goes that far I wonder if Volks USA would adjust their price when payment time comes.

That's exactly what I'm doing with Momo! Another user here, SakuraSylph, also said the same thing. While I was hesitant at first, but after watching the yen go up even further (it was JPY84 per dollar, and now it's JPY86!), I think I feel comfortable going with Volks International for Momo. Like you and SakuraSylph said, the yen seems to be rising and rising, so the prices of Kos-Mos and Momo should be significantly lower by the time the charges come to your credit card.

 

But aahhhh! Over JPY100 to the dollar would be amazing! Let's hope for that!

With the way the US economy is, that sounds a bit pie in the sky to me. sure, the Japanese economy isn't any better, but still... I suppose it would be nice to see (especially since the AUD is pretty much equivalent to USD at the moment).

USD (or AUD) to JPY exchange rate isn't just affected by how USD is doing. The reason that the yen is getting weaker all of a sudden is because the Japanese themselves are making their currency weaker. It's not that the USD is getting better or anything.

 

That being said, I'm pessimistic about the 100 JPY to 1 USD thing too. Of course, I'd love it if that happened.
