For KOSMOS you'll probably have to pay the full amount upfront immediately, I'm fairly sure it will be the same this time. JP never does down payment do they?

 

Momo might have some other way to pay at Volks USA, so there might be a down payment option.

JP never did the payment plan. That was only offered through VolkUSA and I had cast out the idea of it being possible when they announced that KOS-MOS would not be offered through them. It is unfortunate, but oh well.

 

Momo may be allowed it, but I have zero interest in her beyond her stockings, so doesn't really matter to me.

I was a bit surprised by what it said on the image, too, regarding payment submission there at the end when you pick up your dolls. Volks had no clarifying information posted yet - all we know is what the picture said. So I'm not sure why payment is a part of step 5 yet.

...I don't know how I missed that, but wait, payment and shipment at the same time? O.o That is bizarre. I truly did not see that the first time over. Ah, what happens when I quickly skim things. I'm too impatient. I just want to see KOS-MOS already!

 

I wonder if they are gonna do it like a regular figure pre-order then? Pay once the item comes in stock, but that seems rather risky.

Well if it runs like the last time then Volks USA will require down payment.

That's what Volks means by "product details published".. In other words, they're planning to give us prototype photos by the end of November.

So SakuraSylph spent the day in Akihabara. They are indeed showing off a semi-white body at the Volks Akiba store. Basically they did up a semi-white version of Moe and put her next to the regular NS Moe. And honestly.... you can't see that much difference. It is about halfway between the NS and WS colors, so it's nice to have choice, but I didn't notice that it was actually the semi-white at first. That's how little it sticks out next to a NS. I'm not really impressed. I'd rather see something that looks more drastically different, like maybe a tan skinned doll or something.

 

And no, I don't have pictures. They had a big NO PICTURES sign next to it.

 

The semi-white Moe should stay up in the Akiba store for a while, but if you're going to be in the Akiba area, go ahead and check it out. Maybe some of you will like it more than I did.

The semi-white skin Moe and regular Moe are in a circular showcase near the cash register. The semi-white one is currently on the left, and has what looks to be a hand-painted faceup (radically different from Moe's default). That's what to look for if you go in person and how to distinguish which is which. Both dolls were clothed in a dress and socks, so there wasn't actually that much skin visible for comparison's sake.

 

It took me two passes of all the DDs to find where the semi-white body was because I was expecting / looking for a fullly unclothed comparison.

 

I don't really have an opinion on the color itself, as it's just another skin color. It didn't stick out as especially good or bad to me. It looks nice, same as the NS and the WS do. Still neat to see what it looks like in person rather than in online photos though, since it has satisfied my curiosity of what this will look like.

They hould have been in bikini or something...

Well, that's not surprising...it's what's expected for a skin tone between normal and white, right? It's just a new option. If I had a choice, I'd get semi-white in place of normal... I like pale dolls. I'd love a medium brown "tan" skin too, though.

This is what I expected, although I've been surprised at all they hype they've been trying to generate. Perhaps this indicates that they may be willing to add more skin tones later on. It would be very nice to have the tan skin as a regular option for those who want it, although I'm not a fan. I would seriously love to have a black DDdy with an 04 head because I know exactly what I'd do with her. I don't ever expect Volks to do a skintone that dark though.

 

That's kinda nuts about the on display girl not showing much skin... that's the whole point! They could have at least put the girls in slips like Yukino comes in... Volks, you're so silly...

I took pictures in the old Radio Kaikan Akiba location a few years ago in spite of the no pictures signs. Actually, some of my pictures contain the no pictures signs. I'm pretty sure the reasoning behind their not saying anything was that I was actually just getting shots of my Mio in the store, without flash.

We did some comparisons between vinyl and resin lately, on the meet.

While DD WS is pretty similar to some companies' "Cream White", the DD NS is difficult to match.

It's too dark and too pinky imho.

The new semi-white skin might be very similar to Volks' NS resin and maybe it's one of reasons behind this.

Probably very very close to Obitsu white too, since it is just a bit off of DD NS and a little darker than DD white.

She's very cute. I like the pink tone of semi-white quite a bit.

Semi white seems really pretty

Nice... for those who saw the semi white in person, was it any peachier in color compared to normal skin? Or was is the exact same tone but lighter? One thing I don't like about normal skin is how dull and pinky it is in person (and in some photos).

the suspense is killing me! why can't they just release some pictures? I suddenly had a moment where I remembered the good old days of playing XenosagaIII and Mugen no Frontier. Kos-mos is not just one character, depending on which game, the artstyle looks very different.

 

The concept art (such as the one in Volks website) is more anime-ish similar to Mugen no Frontier and Alter's Version 4. Alter's swimsuit version has a slightly more realistic face (also in cutscenes of Xenosaga III). The sculptor this time is Kousuke who might kick it up a notch like he did with Rise.

 

let's not forget there's also the Volks 1/4 version that looks super hot

 

The variance is even greater with MOMO. I mean I jump at the concept art but not the in-game version.

It's literally about halfway between white skin and normal skin for colors. So it's lighter pink than normal skin.

LOL, so NOW (based on the blog photos) Volks puts a huge banner around the top and bottom of the circular case, saying more or less "semi-white skin here". Man, I wish they'd had that this weekend! ^_^;;

 

The dolls are dressed exactly as they were when I saw them in person, so you can see better what I meant by there being a limited amount of the skin showing. However, it was nice on the other hand to see what it'd look like on a real doll when clothed.

 

These photos also answer the question that came up about what the semi-white Moe's faceup looked like.

Does Moe have the new bigger hands or is it just my imagination?
