How to create my Another Blood... help?

Hello there!

I'd like to create a custom DD, but I dunno where can I start.

The girl I'd like to do is her, Another Blood, one of my favorite characters ever.

Here she is. But I totally dunno even the first step to create her! xD

I checked on some places about faces and wigs, but I need so much help on dress, faceup, etc.

And, honestly, I'd like to know what would you do. I don't wanna create a monster !

There's been a MDD with a Nitro+ character, hasn't there? You might be able to start with that!

 

Edit: Found her. There's actually two, but I prefer the first one! She's got that attitude down.

If you wanted a normal-size body with an S-bust, you could try searching for just Al's head. I think mdd and the other bodies share heads, though I'm not positive.

Great character choice, Another Blood is awesome! Here are some tips for making custom characters:

 

First things first, you want to decide what body you'd like her on. DDII, DDdy, DDS, or MDD? Probably MDD for Another Blood, to match the MDD Al Azif, but she'd be nice as a DDS too! They're more lithe and lanky looking, which fits her character. All of these bodies, aside for the DDS, are available straight from Volks.

 

Then, the face. This is probably the most important part! You can either get a character face and change the eyes to match or get a custom painted one. If you go with the character face it might be a bit more expensive, but look around and see if any Dollfies have faces you like! If you want one customed, you need a blank head and a faceup artist. This is probably the best choice, since you can get the face done however you want! Volks is out of blank heads for the most part right now, but they are getting in a new shipment soon. There are several awesome faceup artists, so finding one shouldn't be a problem.

 

Eyes and wigs are next! There are tons of links on the boards to good places that sell these, so shop around! Eyes will be easy since Volks USA carries really nice red ones, for the wig you might need to find one of approximate color/length and style it yourself.

 

The outfit is the hardest part, especially for this character. Chances are you're going to need a custom outfit made! Other people here will be able to help with that, I honestly don't know of any artists who do custom outfits, but I do know they exist!

Yeah, the face is the most important part. Even if I dunno if eBay is the right place to find heads, I've chosen these:

Airi is very hard to find. She hardly ever comes up on Yahoo! Japan Auctions even. There is a complete set Airi on Ebay for almost $4,000 which is crazy:

I suggest to use an S-bust MDD body with white skin to match the other Demonbane girls: those MDDs are difficult to find and when they pop out at Y!Japan them auction ends up with hig prices, even if people sell them used. I have lost 3 auction for Al-Azif (the auction ended at 96000, 88000 and 89000 yen; aw, my lovely "unicorn" XD) and one for Etheldreda (the auction max bid was 130000 >_>), so I suggest not to custom one of them heads, those girls are pretty valuable! You can use a DDH-01 head or a 03 (Aoi) in white to give a try.

You can contact an artist for a pair of custom eyes and a seamtress for the dress (it looks so difficult to make :/ too many ruffles and particular fabrics). Wigs with that pink tone are easy to find even with long hairs: you have to work on her fringe (it sounds funny^^)!

That body is a 1/6 scale body. About the size of a Barbie doll. The only way to find a DD body cheaper than $231 would be to look for a used one. You'd probably have to do stain treatment though.

Well, there's a few places to check for used DD bodies.

 

If you're a member you can try the marketplace at Den of Angels.

Try the classifieds section on Figurefm, that's where I adopted my first girl Manami from.

Of course you can try Ebay but prices there are just stupid.

YJA is another place if you can setup a proxy service to buy things for you.

And yes, Mandarake is a good place to find used items for good prices.

 

 

Personally, I don't think you're going to find a used DD body by itself with no head for less than $200 USD. The few I have seen on ebay that sold for decent prices were between $180-$215 or so. And to me, why would I pay that much and not just go the extra few bucks to have a brand new body from Volks? It's probably your best bet truthfully. But if you enjoy the hunt, try and find some bargains on those places I listed. They are out there, it's just finding them before someone else does!

I found also an artist for customer outfit. She is Akiko, I hope she'll be honest and good creating my dress!

Well, first: I think that Sakura is the right tone of pink, only a bit too bright and light! What do you think about?

I suppose that the right color is around this, and from Leeke the Lavender Rose is my favorite, even if it's too violet for her >__<

Even if it's not a perfect match to the original character, you should go with the color you like best. She's your Dollfie, don't be afraid to put your own spin on things!

This is excellent advice! When I was first making Soniko I couldn't decide on the wig so I bought several. Well, they all look great on her so she just switches them out all the time. XD I think Another Blood would look great in the lavender, it would match her look I think. So go for it! Get pink AND purple!

I agree! This is how I ended up with so many wigs.

Wigs are dangerous... they are such a great way to change your girl's look, and the variety of colors and styles is amazing.

8-9 inches sounds just right for a DD.
