galatia9 Posted September 13, 2012 I just received a DDII white body, and she's a bit grubby, especially around her hands. She has been blushed but she isn't stained, except for a red blotch on one shoulder blade that I want to do the Oxy-10 treatment on. But really, I would like to give all of her vinyl parts a good scrub. Is it worth it to take her all the way apart down to the skeleton to do this? I've restrung lots of resin dolls, so I'm not squeamish about working with dolls. I've also looked through lots of the tutorials here. Any suggestions would be welcome. baldylox Posted September 13, 2012 Since you mention that she is blushed, is it a full body blush or what? If it's a full body blush, I'd say using a soft hand towel with a touch of Dawn dishwashing detergent and warm water on her, it would clean the body nicely. If she doesn't have a full body blush, then I'd say use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the body to get any grime or dirt off her. These things work wonders on cleaning even if you can't see any dirt. I would just not use the eraser over any painted/blushed parts just to be safe. As for taking her apart, it will make things easier to clean down into creases or hard to reach joint areas. But it's not a "have to" by any means. If you're comfortable pulling the body apart, go ahead and do that so you can give it a good once over. Again, if you use the Magic Eraser, use warm water, it seems to work well for me. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. galatia9 Posted September 13, 2012 Thanks, Billy! Yes, I think at one time she was blushed all over. The blush is really faded in most places, and I don't think I would notice if it came off. I'm not concerned about preserving it, except possibly on the nipples (where it is most noticeable). The main reason I wanted to take her apart is so she would dry thoroughly inside and out. I'm worried about her screws possibly rusting if any water seeps inside. I will at least spot clean her with the Magic Eraser, if nothing else. I've only ever used them with water, like it says on the package. And I may just try to disassemble her lower arms, that seems to be where she is particularly grubby. Thanks! If you aren't worried about preserving the blushing ( except on the nips ) then you can use the eraser all over the body to get it clean. If the blushing comes off, no biggie.... if it stays, no biggie. With tap water, you shouldn't have to worry about screws getting rusty on the body. Salt water YES. But taking the body apart on a DDII is WAY better than a DD3 so I'd do that to get it all clean and dried easily. I will at least spot clean her with the Magic Eraser, if nothing else. No probs there, I do the same thing, only water. Let us know how it works out for you. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. archangeli Posted September 13, 2012 Teehee - I asked Billy the same question a few weeks ago because my Rin was absolutely covered in grime when she arrived. If anyone know's how to handle a dirty girl, it's baldylox! Anyways, I was able to clean most of the surface dirt off of her with just a magic eraser and water. I'll get around to doing her stain treatments eventually @__@" Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli
galatia9 Posted September 14, 2012 Thanks, archangeli! I hope to get around to my stain treatment soon, too. Luckily it's only one stain all in one place, and nowhere near a seam. A grimy Rin! I love Rin, I hope she was a bargain! If anyone know's how to handle a dirty girl, it's baldylox! I really laughed quite hard when I first read this...... then I was saddened by the obvious jab at my person. To think all anyone thinks of me is that I'm some sort of perveyor of dirty things! How rude! Okay, who am I kidding.... I'm an ecchi guy and I know it! But seriously, THAT was pretty friggin funny Archangeli! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
