EnyoVD Posted September 14, 2012 Hello all, I've actually been lurking around here for a couple months without posting anything but now I have a small problem. I was giving a quick clean to one of my girls with a magic eraser and rubbing alcohol. After she dried off, I've noticed that she now has a white residue in splotches on her face and especially in her ears which will not wash off. Has anyone else encountered this before? If so, any tips on how to remove this residue? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
juu-yuki Posted September 14, 2012 If the white residue is what I think it is.... you might have a big problem. Does your girl have a custom faceup by any chance? http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com
archangeli Posted September 14, 2012 Hi and welcome! I think juu-yuki and I are thinking the same thing - that the white residue could be layers of the sealant on your doll that you've inadvertently removed by cleaning with alcohol? It might be best if you could post a few photos (I think you need 20 posts before you can use the [ img ] tags) but even linking them for now would be helpful. IF it is the sealant, you might be able to patch it but gently buffing at the white areas with water and a magic eraser and spraying it with a coat of Mr. Super Clear or the Volks ZM spray. If it's not fixable, you may have to scrub her head completely and re-do the faceup @__@" Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli
EnyoVD Posted September 14, 2012 Thanks for your suggestions. I loaned out my camera to a friend but I'll try and get some pics today and post tonight. She's the first and only faceup I did a couple years ago, so I'll be sad to lose her but if I do have to scrub her completely it won't be such a horrible thing. juu-yuki Posted September 14, 2012 From experience the head is probably at the point where it is not fixable. Rubbing alcohol is highly effective when used to remove faceups. Even if you do get all the sealant off, you will probably end up damaging the faceup. Removing the whole faceup, and starting from square one would be the best choice. Working from a clean head will give you better results than you trying to save what you had. http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com
