RaveOfNightmares Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Sony finally announced their full frame SLT model this week: the SLT A99! 24.3MP, first of its kind "Dual Phase Detect AF" system, and a boatload of other high end features. I'm so excited about this that I could explode! I know I'm 1 of the like 0 Sony SLR/SLT shooters on this board, but I can't contain my excitement for this. The release should be in October or early November at the latest. baldylox Posted September 14, 2012 Not that I'm interested in a new camera but I figured I'd tell you that out of 3 digital cameras I've owned, 2 were Sonys. I used to use a Mavica when they first came out and it took really good pics. It was a whopping 1.2 megapixels and took a 3.5 inch floppy disc in the side along with a memory stick. LOL My other was a 6 megapixel that I took with me to Japan in 2010 and I really enjoyed using it. I can't recall the part number on it but it was styled like a DSLR and not a point and shoot. It just wasn't a big bad DSLR like I own now. But I've always liked Sony products.... home, car or camera. So you're not alone! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
RaveOfNightmares Posted September 15, 2012 The same day they also announced a Spring 2013 release for the 50mm f/1.4ZA SSM lens, but without any pictures or a specific release date. If it's anything like the other two ZA primes (85mm f/1.4ZA and 135mm f/1.8ZA), it'll be incredible along with being one of the best lenses in its category. The one you took with you to Japan in 2010 sounds kinda like the Sony H-series bridge camera I took with me on a West-Pac ship deployment in 2007. Nice camera, gotta love the CZ glass on them too. The A99 will be my fourth Sony SLT, as I started with the A33 when I couldn't get my hands on an A55, gave the A33 to a friend with whom I was living with at the time when I was able to get an A55. The A55 went into storage with the rest of my stuff when I was Medevac'd from Japan. I picked up the A77 in January this year, and soon I'll be putting in my pre-order for the A99 which I'll be using along side the 77. Once i find the A55 in my storage stuff, I'm giving it to my Mom. 21 DD girls: Mio, Marina, Yui, Yoko, Nia, Lily, Arisu, Akina, Momo, Arisa, Yukina, Ayaka, Niimi, Eri, Millefeuille, Ekisu, Chitose, Miyabi, KOS-MOS v.4, Hatsune Miku and God Eater Alisa. 2B in a hopeful future. It was alos the camera I used to use to take DD pics with until I got my Nikon D60. It's a good camera but it just didn't give me the look and feel to photos that I wanted. The Nikon does. I dunno if I'd upgrade the Nikon anytime soon other than more lenses but if I did, I'd look at Sony stuff just to see what they have since I liked them in the past. Billy Mine was/is the DSC-H9, which survived being on a ship and travelling to such places as Hong Kong, Tokyo, Australia and Guam. I still have it and I bet it still works, but I have to find the battery charger. 21 DD girls: Mio, Marina, Yui, Yoko, Nia, Lily, Arisu, Akina, Momo, Arisa, Yukina, Ayaka, Niimi, Eri, Millefeuille, Ekisu, Chitose, Miyabi, KOS-MOS v.4, Hatsune Miku and God Eater Alisa. 2B in a hopeful future. RaveOfNightmares Posted November 28, 2012 My A99 arrived on 2 Nov, 2 days before the website stated that it would even ship out. I've post a couple of pics from it on the forums so far. Hpyon Posted January 30, 2014 Anyone tried the A7 and A7R yet (Sony's full frame mirrorless)? The prices seem really competitive ($1700 and $2300) at least considering that the next alternative for that sensor size in a small body is the $7000 Leica M 240... there's been some mixed reviews considering image quality though, but most of the criticism comes from using non-native lenses with adapters, I believe. Probably won't trade my Canon system away just yet, but if I were looking for a new camera right now, the A7R would be pretty high on my list!

The things I've read said the same type of stuff, along with the Jpegs not being too hot, but who shoots Jpeg with a FF camera anyway? The FE mount 55mm F1.8ZA looks to be amazing for them too. 21 DD girls: Mio, Marina, Yui, Yoko, Nia, Lily, Arisu, Akina, Momo, Arisa, Yukina, Ayaka, Niimi, Eri, Millefeuille, Ekisu, Chitose, Miyabi, KOS-MOS v.4, Hatsune Miku and God Eater Alisa. 2B in a hopeful future.
