Unicorns! When have you missed out on yours?

I was just wondering when have you missed out of your main unicorn for any reason.

(they were really cheap and you missed it because of ___. they were really close to you but they were bought just before you asked... that sort of thing.)

Because i ignorantly think that yuki and rina's pre-order would not end that soon.. The next day i went to the site, it ended!!

Hmm...I missed out on Izayoi Sakuya (my 2nd favorite Touhou character) right from Volks because I thought she was Japan-only...until I came to this board and found out she apparently wasn't. That said, I ended up buying her recently anyway...so does that still count as missed?

As I see it does since you didn't get her when you could of for the first time and this counts for second hand ones too like me a Rei ATM =( so cheap yet no way of getting her is making me feel really sad. I should be baned from going on yahoo japan so i don't see them go so cheap XD

Rin Tohsaka. I would have owned one, but Dollfieworld had sold her to someone else on their site while I had found her on eBay and rushed to purchase without realizing that she was even being sold by them, (Just checked good feedback, yeah some reason the name didn't click in my mind...) thus not realizing she had also been sold on the site. Was a sad day when I got a message that my eBay order was canceled...;___; I wanted to lecture so much about putting such a popular DD up in two places on the first day, but I found no reason to express my frustration.

 

I can also note that Saber Lily escaped me about 13 times, but she's home and here to stay. Nonetheless, a lot of fun and stupid moves on my part make her tale kinda painful to listen to. Plus, she isn't the status of a unicorn, but instead the holy grail~<3

Kudo! I lost both lotteries for her, then I had a knack for finding her for sale only after she had already been sold or she would pop up for sale right after I had bought a different DD. This went on for well over a year. I finally got her a few months ago but she had tried to pull the same old popping up for sale the day after I bought a different DD trick, luckily I was prepared for this and was able to buy her too.

Oh yeah! But the one that hurt the most was when I in response to losing Lily went and paid off a layaway for another doll...to get offered one from KL. I had never wanted to beg back a payment from a seller till that very moment. I'll get Rin whenever she finally decides to appear when Volks isn't threatening me with something else I'll regret missing.....

 

I wish you luck as well! Some dolls just like to give you a hard time and taunt you for a while till you can actually have them. Hopefully your dear Rei will be home soon!

Don't know if she's my unicorn, but I had a local owner of Yoko put her up for sale at a really good price, and even offer me discount. I couldn't buy her as I had just got back from Japan, and was due to go to Australia in a couple of months for a family wedding...

 

I did win the lottery for Sakura Shinguji, and I really wanted her, so she was one that didn't get away..

All my unicorns slipped away because I got into this hobby too late. Especially I regret missing Saber Alter 2nd. She was a pre-order!!! And now some of them cost way too much for me. *sigh*

Ryomou Shimei eluded me for quite a while. I must have bid on at least 4 or 5 auctions of her over the course of about 5 or 6 months and lost every one of them. It seemed she would never let me adopt her. But then one day THIS happened:

Seems my DD Fairy Godmother was looking out for me and she was able to aquire my Unicorn without telling me. Silly Mitsuki....

 

So now that I had her, there was only one other Unicorn I was wanting.... Kanu Unchou. I hadn't actually tried to bid on her before but a good friend of mine tried to get one for me several times without much luck. Then, he finally managed to secure one for me! We were going to do a payment plan like a layaway but we soon found out that another good friend of ours had been trying to aquire a Kanu for MUCH longer than I had. So the decsion was made to send my Kanu to that person instead and I would just wait for another chance later on.

 

Kanu still eldues me......

 

But one day I'll find one at a decent price and adopt her.

 

 

 

 

Billy

My only Unicorn doll has been Yoko, simply because Billy had her and it was while I was doing research for my trip to Japan in 2011, that I came across a post with his Yoko in it.

 

At that time, I didn't really set my sites on her, simply because she just seem to expensive, so I went down the custom route to create Sae, making sure that I was happy with the hobby.

 

Went to Japan, returned with Aoi, but never thought about Yoko or trying to obtained her, but always enjoyed Billy's stories with her in it.

 

Jumping forward some 10 months, a brilliant friend here and my Guardian Angel, had been working behind the scenes and managed to put together the original Body & Head of Yoko and send her to me.

 

I am one happy person, although she is missing the default items, I understand this is currently being worked upon.

 

I don't have any Unicorn dolls at the moment, but have a wish list of ones that I would like to obtain, but am in no hurry to get them. If one from the list is there when I have the money then I will obtain her, but if not, I'll sit and wait.

 

Who's on my wish list ................... Mt Guardian Angel knows that.

I've missed out on Sakuno several times... orz

She always seems to be cheap when I don't have the money to pay for her...

I have a couple dollfies that I'd really like to own.

 

One of which is Yoko; she's such a beautiful girl.

 

The other is Mashiro.

 

I know I'll never own these girls, I've even thought about selling my others to obtain either of them.

 

But at the least I enjoy seeing photos of them.

She will come your way one day. My Yoko took 10 months to get to me and I just enjoy that face.

That would be Rin and Mariko. Rin because I came into the hobby late (she is so expensive! ) and Mariko I missed because I realised too late that I really wanted her. Now I can't seem to find anyone willing to part with theirs...

This is easy... Saber v1. I've always wanted one and now have a Lily, though it's not the same.

I'm sort of miffed I passed on Cirno. I really want her now, she's the only other MDD head sculpt I really like, and Noumi needs a sister!

Kanu because of her delicious toasty skin and Sasara. Q_Q dunno if I'll ever have enough funds for a fourth girl.

For the longest time it was Mashiro. Everytime she popped up it was really bad timing because of my current money situation. Or I just missed out on awesome deals for her all together by finding out about them way too late. T_T I'm extremely glad it did finally work out so that I will be bringing her home soon.

 

The other unicorn I missed out on is Tamaki. I started in the DD hobby after she was already released. Let's see she was released at DP 16 and I joined this hobby around DP 24, makes me really wish I could have found this hobby sooner. Especially considering the price she goes for now. T_T With that said, don't know if I will ever be able to bring my Queen Tamaki home. Maybe one of these days if I ever decide to part with a few body parts. XD Or if Volks would do a re-release. *fingers crossed*
